Want to look beautiful and attractive with beachy wavy styled hair like a gentle breeze on the beach? You can style your own hair using a hair straightener, but remember, these tools can damage your hair. The good news, there are many ways to make wavy hair without heating tools. You can style your hair dry, but it works even better if your hair is a bit wet!
Step
Method 1 of 3: Twist Straight or Curly Hair
Step 1. Wet hair
First, wet your hair with cool water in the shower or spray water from a bottle. If your hair is still very wet, use a towel or T-shirt to dry your hair to prevent any more water from dripping.
- This step works best on straight hair, but it can also be used to style curly or wavy hair to make it look neater and more attractive.
- If your hair is very curly or textured and you want to make it wavy beachy wavy style, you should blow your hair out first.
- This hairstyle results in better results if you wash it 2-3 days ago because the natural oils on the scalp make hair softer and shiny.
Step 2. Spray sea salt spray on hair
Bow your head so your hair hangs down, then spray a thin layer of sea salt spray on the ends and middle of the hair shaft, not the roots.
Use curling cream if your hair is so straight that the curls or semi-permanent waves don't last long. Prepare a coin-sized curling cream in the palm of your hand, then apply it to your hair. Use more cream if your hair is very long
Step 3. Make a section of hair from the middle of the forehead to the nape of the neck
Gather the left side of the hair on the left shoulder and the right side of the hair on the right shoulder. If you want to make waves that are not too big, make a vertical parting above the ears so that there are 2 sections of hair on each side of the head. Pinch each section using hair clips.
- If you want to create spiral waves, separate your hair into 6-8 sections. The more sections of hair, the smaller the waves. You can make as many sections of hair as you want, but make sure the number is the same on each side of your head. First of all, make a parting in the middle of the top of the head starting from the forehead to the nape of the neck. Then, separate the hair on each side of the head into 3-4 sections.
- You can divide your hair starting from the left side or the right side of the head.
Step 4. Twist each section of hair on the left side away from your face
You'll need to twist your hair tight enough to make it look like a rope. If you prefer spiral-like waves, make a french braid or a rope braid. Tie the ends of the hair that have been twisted / braided with a hair elastic.
After separating the hair into sections, start twisting or braiding the hair from the section closest to the forehead followed by the sections behind the hair one at a time up to the nape of the neck
Step 5. Lift your newly twisted/braided hair to the top of your head, then secure it with hair clips
When you're done twisting/braiding your hair, pull your hair over your head like a headband, then secure the ends with 1-2 bobby pins.
- Some people prefer to pull their freshly twisted/braided hair at the nape of the neck.
- In addition, you can braid your hair that has just been twisted/braided, like the Princess Leia hairstyle, and then hold it in place with a few bobby pins to keep it neat.
Step 6. Do the same for the hair on the right side of the head
If you divide your hair into 4 or more sections instead of just 2, you will need to twist/braid each section of hair. When twisting your hair, make sure it's away from your face.
If you're dividing your hair into sections, start twisting/braiding from the section closest to the forehead and working the sections behind the hair one at a time up to the nape of the neck
Step 7. Spray hair spray on the hair, then wait for it to dry
If there is no hair spray, you can replace it with sea salt spray. How long you need to wait for your hair to dry depends on how thick your hair is and the temperature in your home. Usually, you need to wait all night.
- If needed, wrap your hair in a silk scarf so it doesn't fall apart at night.
- If you're in a hurry, use a hair dryer or a hooded dryer to dry your hair faster. Usually, your hair is dry in 10-15 minutes, unless you have very thick hair.
Step 8. Remove the hair clips, then toss the hair left and right
When your hair is dry, remove the bobby pins and hair band. Use your fingers to run through your hair to make twists or braids loose. Don't use a comb or hairbrush to make it look like a rope with wavy ends.
Step 9. Spray hair spray to maintain the styling results
You don't need hair spray if your hair is naturally curly or wavy. For those of you who have straight hair, spray a little hair spray so that the waves last longer. To give your hair more texture, spray a small amount of dry shampoo at the roots.
- In addition to hair spray, you can use sea salt spray, but the waves may not last long, especially if your hair is straight.
- If you have dark hair, use a special dry shampoo for dark hair to make it less noticeable.
Method 2 of 3: Squeezing Curly or Wavy Hair
Step 1. Wet hair
You can wet your hair in the shower or simply spray the water in a bottle. For this method, you don't need to wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner before styling.
- If you want to wash your hair with shampoo and/or conditioner first, that's fine. If you don't need to wash your hair today, just wet your hair with water.
- This method works only if you have naturally wavy/curly hair or straight hair that has been permed.
- If water is still dripping from your hair, dry it first with a T-shirt or towel.
Step 2. Use a wide-toothed comb or your fingers to comb through your hair to keep it from tangling
Start combing the hair starting from the ends to the roots of the hair. So that the hair does not grow, apply hair serum before combing so that the serum is evenly distributed when combing the hair.
Step 3. Lower your head so that your hair hangs forward over your face
Then, spray the sea salt spray evenly on the hair starting from the nape of the neck to the ends of the hair.
- Keep moving your hands so that the hair shaft is wrapped in a thin layer of sea salt spray. Hair doesn't swell if you apply too much sea salt spray.
- If the waves are inelastic, this means excess sea salt spray. If you experience this, use sea salt spray sparingly when styling your hair again.
Step 4. Squeeze the hair starting from the tips to the roots of the hair when the hair is almost dry
Grasp the ends of the hair from below, then lift a few inches so that the hair collects in the palm of your hand. Wrap the hair around your fingers, then let go. Do this step several times for wavy hair.
- Knead the hair several times until the hair is dry. You don't need to keep your head down while doing this step.
- Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, it is possible that your hair is completely dry after a few hours. It's a good idea to bring some sea salt spray if you're in a hurry.
Step 5. Spray a little sea salt spray on the hair, then massage the hair roots if needed
When the hair is dry, spray a little sea salt spray on the hair shaft starting from the middle to the ends, but avoid the roots of the hair. To give your hair more volume, poke a little at the roots of the hair at the top of your head with a hairbrush or a fine-toothed comb.
You don't need hair spray because your hair is naturally curly/wavy. Beachy wavy style can last all day with just sea salt spray
Method 3 of 3: Styling Dry Hair
Step 1. Make sure your hair is not wet
You don't need to wash your hair before styling your beachy wavy hair because the results are better if your hair hasn't been washed for 1-2 days, but your hair must be dry.
This style is suitable for all hair types, but if your hair is curly or textured, it will look like a spiral instead of wavy
Step 2. Spray dry shampoo on the hair roots
Dry shampoo absorbs oil from the hair shaft so that the hair looks clean. If you have bangs, don't forget to spray dry shampoo at the roots of your bangs.
- Use loose powder if you don't have dry shampoo at home.
- If you have dark hair, use a special dry shampoo for dark hair to make it less noticeable.
Step 3. Spray sea salt spray on the middle and ends of the hair
Bow your head, then spray the bottom of your hair with sea salt spray. Keep your head straight, then spritz some more sea salt spray on your hair, but prioritize the middle and ends of the hair shaft.
- Don't let the hair roots get exposed to sea salt spray. Your hair will feel sticky and not frizzy if you apply too much sea salt spray. Spray only a little because all it takes is a thin layer.
- If your hair feels sticky, use an adequate amount of sea salt spray when styling your hair again.
Step 4. Twist the strands of hair one at a time
Use your fingers to twist the still wet hair so that it looks like a rope. The more the hair is twisted, the bigger the waves. If the hair is twisted only slightly, the result is like a spiral.
The diameter of a small tuft of hair is at least a few millimeters, but the largest is at least half the thickness of your hair
Step 5. Wait for the sea salt spray to dry
Usually, you will need to wait a few minutes, depending on the temperature in your home. Twist hair will unravel by itself because it is not pinned or tied. If it doesn't unravel, gently comb it out with your fingers.
Don't use a comb or hairbrush to make it look like a rope with wavy ends
Tips
- Make your own hair styling product by adding 1 tablespoon of sea salt spray to liter of water. Dissolve more sea salt spray if you want more textured hair and vice versa.
- If you want to give your hair more volume, spray some sea salt spray on a comb, then use it to work at the roots.
- To prevent frizz or frizz, use a T-shirt or microfiber towel to dry your hair after shampooing.
- Spray a little hair spray or liquid mousse while flicking your hair left and right so that the waves last longer and stay attractive.
- Don't brush your hair when it's dry so it doesn't get loose or messy. Use your fingers if you need to straighten your hair.
