It is very important to know how to wear glasses properly and to choose a model that suits you. Choose glasses that you like, are comfortable to wear, and suit your face shape. Wear them with care, always clean the lenses, and make sure that your glasses are always in the correct position. Wearing glasses properly can prevent them from getting loose or falling off.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Wearing Glasses According to Face Shape
Step 1. Choose glasses that match your face shape
There's nothing wrong with choosing glasses only based on the model and shape, but it would be better if you wear glasses that match your face shape. To find out your face shape, see if your face is longer or wider; your jaw is round, square, or pointed; and your forehead is wide or small.
Step 2. Use thin, rectangular framed glasses if you have a round face
A round face is a face that has the same length and width and is characterized by a soft and slightly curved face shape. Square and straight-lens glasses can make your face look longer and slimmer. Use thin-rimmed glasses because thick-rimmed glasses can cover your round face.
Try wearing thin-lensed butterfly glasses. You can show the contrast between your glasses and your face if you wear right-angled glasses, as opposed to rounded ones
Step 3. Use large, round, thin-rimmed glasses if you have a square face
The advantages of having a square face are a strong, angled jaw and a flat chin. If you want to reduce the effect of your face shape, use round lens glasses. If you prefer a profile that looks strong, but isn't too intimidating, try wearing square-lens glasses. Make sure the glasses you wear are large and have approximately the same side length.
- Avoid using lenses that are small or rectangular because they do not match your face shape.
- Use thin-rimmed glasses. Thick-rimmed glasses can cover the attractiveness and shape of your face.
Step 4. Wear any type of glasses if you have an oval face
An oval face is a face that is oval, has a round chin, and high cheekbones. This type of face usually goes well with any model of glasses, but avoid wearing glasses that are weird. You can wear square-framed or slightly curved glasses. Use a large or small lens depending on your preference, but don't use a lens that is too round or square.
Thick-rimmed glasses can accentuate your face, but avoid wearing glasses that are too flashy as they can mask your true charm
Step 5. Wear tapered lenses if you have a heart-shaped face
People who have small cheekbones and chin usually find it difficult to find glasses that fit them. However, if you want to accentuate your thin face, wear thin-lensed glasses. In addition, by wearing thin-lensed butterfly glasses, the position of your eyes will look more in the middle of the face.
- Avoid wearing square-rimmed glasses. This type of glasses is usually not suitable for use on a heart-shaped face.
- Glasses that are framed too small will look more fragile on a heart-shaped face. Try wearing thick wire-framed or plastic glasses.
Method 2 of 3: Wearing Glasses with Cosmetics
Step 1. Brighten your face if you wear thick-rimmed glasses
Some models of glasses can cast shadows around your eyes. To combat this, use a light-colored foundation under your eyes and in the center of your nose. This technique, known as contouring, can make you look fresher and highlight your eyes. You can contour your entire face by darkening your cheekbones, the top of your forehead, and both sides of your nose. Be sure to mix your foundation and contour makeup with cosmetics that match your natural face color.
Step 2. Avoid applying a lot of make-up on your eyebrows if you are wearing thick-rimmed glasses, but try painting your eyebrows if you are wearing thin-framed glasses
Shape your eyebrows depending on the size and shape of the glasses, as well as the thickness and contour of the eyebrows.
- Thick, full, and arched eyebrows are trendy nowadays, but they don't always match the existing glasses. Avoid thick eyebrows if you wear large, thick-rimmed glasses. The same goes for thin eyebrows and light hair. Don't paint your eyebrows too full or too dark.
- If you're using a small, pointed frame, try painting your eyebrows in their natural color. With this, the eyes will stand out more and enhance your appearance. Use an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow powder and a thin brush to slowly paint the eyebrows in thin, short lines. Save on cosmetics and follow the curve of your eyebrows.
Step 3. Use eyeliner to highlight your eyes
Accentuate your eyes with cat eye makeup made using tan, thick lashes, and bold eye shadow colors. If you choose a light shade of eye shadow, be sure to match it to the color of your eyeglass frames. If the colors of your eyeshadow and glasses collide with each other, the effect will feel cheap and tacky.
Step 4. Use a light-colored lipstick to balance the color of your face, unless you use a lot of cosmetics
Use cosmetics on your eyes or lips, avoid using cosmetics on both. If you have a quirky eyewear and want to use eye shadow, try pairing it with a colorless lip gloss or a slightly tinted lip balm. If you want to draw people's attention to your lips, use shadow or mascara with a bright red lipstick. Some people prefer to wear old-fashioned (vintage) glasses for this style.
Method 3 of 3: Wearing Glasses Correctly
Step 1. Wear your glasses carefully
To wear it, you have to hold the front of the eyeglass frame with both hands. Tuck the handles of the glasses over your ears and gently place the frames against your bridge of the nose. Always hold your glasses with both hands to reduce pressure on the hinges of the glasses.
- Don't press the glasses to your nose! Too much pressure will cause indentations on the bridge of your nose.
- Wear glasses close to your eyes. Don't go too low or at the tip of your nose. With this position, you get a wider field of view. At first, it may feel uncomfortable, but you will get used to it.
Step 2. Wear your glasses on the top of your nose
When you are wearing glasses, touch the bridge of your nose with your index finger and push the glasses up to the very top of your nose. Glasses should be worn between your eyes and forehead, unless your eye doctor recommends a special position for your glasses.
Don't stretch your glasses. Don't wear glasses over your head as they can stretch the shape
Step 3. Always clean the lenses of your glasses
Wipe eyeglass lenses with a microfiber cloth and use a small amount of water to remove stubborn stains. Clean your eyeglass frames regularly with soapy water to remove any dust or oil that could contaminate your skin.
- Avoid wiping glasses with your clothes, such as socks or jackets, as these can leave stains or patterns that are difficult to remove.
- Avoid holding eyeglass lenses with your fingers as this can stain the lenses with fingerprints and bacteria.
Step 4. Remove the glasses the right way
Lift and pull your glasses forward with both hands. When you put the glasses on for a few minutes, make sure they are folded properly. Place your glasses on the hilt, not the lens.
