Usually, Mini Mouse ears are exactly the same as Mickey Mouse ears, but with a ribbon (or sometimes a crown, Santa hat, or other seasonal symbols) between the ears. These ears are always black, of course, but Mini Mouse always wears different kinds of ribbons, so you can make Mini Mouse ear bands based on your favorite colors and patterns.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Making Ears
Step 1. Gather the ear-making materials
You will need black felt and thick cardboard.
Step 2. Buy a headband
This headband can be any color, but it must be at least 1 inch (2.27 cm) wide.
Step 3. Draw a circle pattern on the paper
You will need to draw two circles as an ear shape pattern, each measuring 7.6 x 12.7 centimeters and equipped with a 1.27 centimeter hook at the bottom end. (This hook will allow the ear to securely attach to the headband.)
Step 4. Make a circle on the felt
Place a paper pattern on the felt and draw circles following the pattern on the felt. Use sewing chalk or regular chalk (the chalk marks can be easily removed with just water). Make four circles with felt for each pair of ears you want to make.
Step 5. Cut a circle on the felt
Use scissors or a special serrated cutter if you want this circle to look prettier.
Step 6. Make a circle with thick cardboard
Draw using a pattern out of paper, making two thick cardboard circles for each pair of ears you want to make.
Step 7. Cut circles on thick cardboard
Use very sharp scissors so that the edges are even.
Step 8. Glue the felt to the thick cardboard with glue
Use regular household glue to attach the felt to the front and back of each ear. Only apply glue to the center of the thick cardboard, as the glue will spread to the edges of the ears when the felt is pressed and glued together.
Method 2 of 4: Attaching Ears to Headbands
Step 1. Use hot glue to attach the ears
Ordinary home glue won't be able to keep the ears firmly in position.
Step 2. Apply glue to the earloop and then glue it to the bottom side of the headband
The two ear loops should be at least 10 centimeters apart so that there is sufficient space for the tape you will be gluing between them.
Step 3. Fold the ears up and forward to make them appear upright
The hook attached with the glue will keep the ear in place.
Step 4. Allow the glue to dry completely before you attach the tape
Method 3 of 4: Making the Ribbon
Step 1. Measure and cut 25 centimeters of tape
The width of this tape should be between 12.7-20.3 centimeters.
Step 2. Measure and cut another 7.6 centimeters of tape
This piece will be wrapped around the center of the ribbon, so you may be able to choose a contrasting color.
Step 3. Lay the long strip of ribbon on a flat surface, with the front side facing down
Step 4. Fold both ends towards the middle
-
Pull both ends to the back of the tape so that they meet in the middle of the tape. The two ends should overlap slightly in the middle of the tape.
-
Add a little hot glue to each end of the tape.
-
Press both ends into the center of the tape. Press firmly for at least 30 seconds for the glue to dry and set.
Step 5. Position the ribbon to create a beautiful ribbon shape
This will be easier to do if your tape measures at least 12.7 centimeters wide.
Step 6. Pinch the center of the ribbon together
If you pinch tightly, both sides of the tape will expand more widely.
Step 7. Loosely wrap the short (7.6 centimeter) strip of ribbon around the center of the large ribbon
Wrap it around a few times, then lift your previously pinched finger and hold the center.
Continue to wrap the short strip of ribbon tightly until it's finished
Step 8. Glue this center ribbon in position
-
Lift one end of the small tape and apply glue to it.
-
Press the parts that have been given glue. Hold for about 30 seconds to make sure that the two halves of the tape are firmly attached to each other.
Method 4 of 4: Attaching the Ribbon to the Headband
Step 1. Tuck the decorative wire in the fold of the back side of the ribbon
If there are no creases, you can also tape decorative wire to the center of the back side of the tape.
Step 2. Cross one end of the decorative wire across the other, so that the decorative wire doesn't fall off the ribbon
Step 3. Position the tape in the middle of both ears
Wrap each end of the decorative wire around the headband, one end to the right and the other to the left. This band now fits tightly between the ears on the headband
Step 4. Done
Tips
- You may need to use several layers of plain cardboard glued together if you don't have thick cardboard to make the ears. The material for making these ears must be thick and sturdy enough so that the ears do not fold down after being attached to the headband.
- If you don't have felt, you can color a thick cardboard circle with black paint.
- You can buy all the materials and supplies you need at the nearest craft store.
- Use a large black marker to color the decorative wire white if you're worried that the white will show.

- Similarly, this guide can be used to create Mickey Mouse ears.
- Do not attach the band directly to the ear, otherwise when you want to wear a band of a different color or if it breaks, you will have to disassemble the whole piece and re-create it.
