Step 1. Reduce stress
According to the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), there is a link between stress and your dental health. Individuals who experience stress, their immune system decreases so it is difficult for the body to fight the bacteria that cause periodontal disease and make them more susceptible to suffering from gum infections. Researchers have also learned that not all stress is equal. In a study conducted at three different US universities, participants who had financial concerns had the greatest risk for periodontal disease.

Dissolve some sea salt in a cup of warm water. Gargle a mouthful of the solution for 30 seconds and then discard. Repeat several times. Step 3. Glue the tea bag
Dip tea bags in boiling water, remove and let cool. Place the cooled tea bag on the sore gums and leave it on for about five minutes. The tannic acid in tea bags works effectively to relieve gum infections.

Honey has natural antibacterial and antiseptic properties, so you can apply it to treat infected gums. After you brush your teeth, apply a little honey on the problem gum area.
Since honey has a high sugar content, it is not recommended to use too much and make sure to apply it right on the gums and not on your teeth
Step 5. Drink cranberry juice
Cranberry juice can prevent bacteria from sticking to your teeth, so try to drink up to 118 ml of unsweetened juice every day.

Make a paste from a mixture of lemon juice and salt. Mix well and then apply on your teeth. Leave it on for a few minutes then gargle with warm water to clean it.

Step 7. Eat more foods rich in vitamin C

Step 8. Increase your intake of vitamin D
Vitamin D has anti-inflammatory properties, so make sure you get enough of this vitamin when you want to heal swollen gums and prevent them from coming back. Older adults should take this vitamin. According to the National Institutes of Health, high levels of vitamin D in the blood vessels are associated with a reduced risk of gum disease in individuals aged 50 and over.

Step 9. Brush your teeth with baking soda
Baking soda neutralizes the acids in your mouth thereby reducing the chances of tooth decay and gum disease, so it's actually more of a preventative measure than a cure for gum disease. Mix a little baking soda into a little warm water and stir until it forms a paste. Use this paste to brush your teeth.
Step 10. Avoid tobacco
Tobacco decreases your ability to fight infection and delays healing. Tobacco consumers are more prone to suffer from serious gum disease that does not respond well to treatment leading to tooth loss, than nonsmokers.

Step 1. Use dental probiotics
Lozenges containing Lactobacillus reuteri prodentis are "friendly" bacteria that live in the intestines, which are touted as effective treatments for gingivitis because of their ability to restore the natural balance of the mouth after you use oral antiseptics, mouthwashes and gels that contain anti-bacteria.
Step 2. Consume CoQ10
Co-enzyme Q10 (also known as ubiquinone) is a vitamin-like substance that helps the body convert sugar and fat into energy. According to the Mayo Clinic, early studies suggest CoQ10 taken by mouth or placed on the skin or gums can help treat periodontitis.
Step 3. Gargle with Listerine
Excluding prescription mouthwashes, Listerine has been shown to be the most effective mouthwash for reducing plaque and gingivitis. It is recommended that you use it for 30 seconds twice a day. Although the essential oils contained in this liquid can cause a burning sensation in the mouth, most people will often get used to it after a few days of use.
Step 4. Spray the problem gums
Try adding a spray containing chlorhexidine (CHX), a powerful anti-bacterial with the ability to inhibit tartar, in your dental care routine. One study in elderly patients, a group at risk for periodontal disease, found that once-daily application of a 0.2% CHX spray reduced tartar accumulation and inflammation caused by gingivitis.
Step 5. Use Genigel
This product contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body's connective tissue. Research has shown that hyaluronic acid has anti-inflammatory, antiedematous and anti-bacterial properties which are effective for the treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis. When Genigel is applied to the gums, it stimulates the production of new healthy tissue. In trials at the University of Rostock, Germany, scientists found that it can increase tissue healing by half, increase blood supply and reduce inflammation.
