Opening your Yahoo inbox and reviewing its content is easy! You can follow this process by logging into the Yahoo Mail desktop site and clicking the " Mail " section, or logging into your account via the Yahoo Mail mobile app.

Method 1 of 2: Using Mobile Apps (iOS and Android)
Step 1. Open the "Yahoo Mail" application
Step 2. Touch Sign In
Step 3. Type in the email address
Step 4. Touch Next
Step 5. Enter the password
Step 6. Touch Sign In
Step 7. Select the email
After that, the message will be opened.
Step 8. Touch the attachment
If the email has an attachment, touch the attachment to open it. You can download it or share it via the options in the top right corner of the screen.
Step 9. Close the attachment window
Step 10. Touch the horizontal button
After that, you will get several options:
- ” Mark as unread ” – With this option, you can change the message status back to unopened message.
- ” Star this message ” – With this option, you can put messages into the " Starred " folder (starred).
- ” Mark as spam ” – This option adds the message and its sender to the spam folder.
- ” Print or share ” – This option displays options for sharing the message (eg sending an email as a new message, printing a message, etc.).
Step 11. Close the menu
You can touch any part outside the menu to close it.
Step 12. Touch the arrow pointing backwards
From here, you can:
- Select Reply to reply to the message.
- Select Forward to forward the email to another contact.
Step 13. Close the menu
Step 14. Touch the “Move To” button
This button is indicated by a folder outline icon with an arrow pointing up. From here, you can:
- Archive email. The message will be removed from your inbox, but will remain in your account.
- Mark emails as spam.
- Create a new folder for messages. After that, the new folder will be shown as an option on this menu.
Step 15. Close the menu
Step 16. Touch the square icon
After that, the email will be archived in one step.
Step 17. Touch the trash can icon
The email will be moved from the inbox to the trash afterwards.

From here, you can see all the folders in Yahoo Mail, such as:
- “Inbox” (inbox)
- “Unread” (unread message)
- “Starred” (starred message)
- “Drafts” (email drafts)
- “Sent” (message sent)
- “Archive” (archived messages)
- “Spam” (spam messages)
- "Trash" (trash can)
- “Categorizations” (message categories, including “People” or individuals, “Social” for messages from social media, “Travel” for travel-related messages, “Shopping” for shopping-related emails, and “Finance” for finance-related emails)
- New folders that you create yourself
Step 20. Touch Inbox
You will be taken back to your inbox. Now, you have successfully opened and reviewed all messages on your account!
Method 2 of 2: Using Desktop Sites
Step 1. Open the Yahoo website
Step 2. Click Sign In
It's in the upper-right corner of the Yahoo page.
Step 3. Type in your email address
Step 4. Click Next
Step 5. Enter the email account password
Step 6. Click Sign In
Step 7. Click Mail
This option is to the right of the Sign In button.
Step 8. Click the email
Step 9. Familiarize yourself with the displayed email toolbar
This bar is above the opened message window. The options on the bar (from left to right) include:
- ” Compose ” – This button is at the far left of the screen and is used to create a new message field.
- ” reply ” – This option is displayed as an arrow icon pointing to the left and serves to reply to messages.
- ” Reply to All ” – This option is displayed as a two arrow icon pointing to the left and serves to reply messages to all the senders involved.
- ” forward ” – This option is indicated by an arrow icon pointing to the right and serves to forward emails to other contacts.
- ” Archive ” – This option works to delete messages from your inbox and store them in your account.
- ” Move ” – This option will display a drop-down menu with all the folders stored in your Yahoo Mail account.
- ” Delete ” – This option will move the email to the “Trash” folder.
- ” Spam ” – This option will move the email to the “Spam” folder.
- ” More ” – This option includes additional options such as “Mark as Unread” (marks messages as unread emails), “Star” (adds a star to messages), “Block” (blocks the sender of the message), and “Print” (prints messages).
Step 10. Review attachments
If the sender attaches a picture or document, the attachment will appear at the bottom of the email. You can download it by clicking the bottom of the attachment icon.
Step 11. Click Inbox

Tips
- When using the desktop site, you can access folders other than your inbox on the left side of the screen.
- On the mobile app, touch the circle button with the pen to open a new email template.
