Android smartphones with "near field communication" (NFC) can transfer data by touching the phone. This feature is not available on all phones. However, if you happen to find one, this feature allows you to send information in seconds. Follow this guide to set up and use Android Beam.

Method 1 of 3: Confirming System Requirements
Step 1. Make sure you are using an Android phone with version 4.0 or above
Android 4.0 is also known as Ice Cream Sandwich.
Go to the Settings screen, then "About Phone". Check the operating system version of your phone. If your phone has Android 4.0 operating system or above, your phone already has Android Beam
Step 2. Make sure your phone has NFC
This technology allows communication between mobile phones with a distance of about 10 cm.
- NFC is commonly found on Sprint, HTC, and other types of phones. It is estimated, NFC will be more and more found on mobile phones after the Android Beam feature was introduced in 2011.
- Return to the Settings screen. Look for the "More" or "Communications" setting. If you don't find "NFC" in the settings, you won't be able to use Android Beam on the phone.
Method 2 of 3: Enabling Android Beam
Step 1. Find the NFC option on your phone in the Settings menu
Press "On" or tap a setting to activate it.
Step 2. Look for the Android Beam option in the Settings menu
Click "On", or press "Android Beam" to enable this option.
Step 3. Perform the same steps to ensure that the receiving phone also has NFC and Android Beam enabled
If the receiving phone doesn't have the latest operating system or NFC, you can't use Android Beam.
Method 3 of 3: Android Data Sharing
Step 1. Find the information that you will share with other Android devices
- For example, you can find a location on Google Maps and share the map with friends.
- You can also search for a contact, open the contact's page, and share it.
- You can go to almost any page on the internet with your browser, and the same page will appear in other users' Android Beam after you share the page.
Step 2. Place 2 phones that have Android Beam enabled with a few cm distance from each other
You don't have to touch the phone, but the phone can touch.
Step 3. Wait for a small vibration to be felt from your phone
Step 4. Make sure that you want to share data with Android Beam when a warning appears on your Android phone
Press "Yes" or "OK" to share the content.
