If you care about what you put on your skin and are concerned about the ingredients in today's cosmetic products, making your own cosmetic product can be the ideal solution! Maybe you just want to save money or can't find the ideal product that fits your needs. You can mix Vaseline (petroleum jelly) with simple ingredients, such as instant drink powder or eye shadow to make your own lip gloss.

Method 1 of 4: Using Lipstick
Step 1. Place 2 tablespoons (30 grams) of Vaseline in a small microwave-safe bowl
You'll need to melt the lip gloss mixture before you can transfer it to the container where you'll be using it.
Step 2. Cut a small amount of lipstick and add it to the bowl
The more lipstick used, the more solid or vivid the color of the lip gloss will be. To create a lip gloss with added shine, use a lipstick that already has shimmer powder.
Step 3. Heat the vaseline and lipstick in the microwave for 30 seconds until they melt

- Do not use more than teaspoon of almond oil. Otherwise, the lip gloss ingredients will separate and settle.
- You can also use essential oils in place of flavours. However, keep in mind that essential oils are very powerful. Add a drop of oil first, stir, then add more oil if necessary.
Step 6. Stir the mixture with a spoon until smooth and even
Make sure that there are no lumps of material or patches of color remaining in the mixture.
Step 7. Pour the mixture into a small container
After getting the desired color, pour the mixture into a small container. Use a small spatula, butter knife, or spoon to transfer the mixture to a bowl if necessary.
- You can find small containers in the paint products section of a craft supply store (or the plastic container section at stores like Miniso or Mumuso).
- You can also use empty, cleaned lip gloss containers, lens cases, and plastic medicine boxes.
Step 8. Wait for the mixture to harden before use
If you are in a hurry, put the mixture in the refrigerator for a few hours. When the temperature is cold, the lip gloss will harden. You can dab it on your lips using your finger or a cotton swab.
Method 2 of 4: Using Shea Butter
Step 1. Prepare a double pan
Fill a medium-sized bowl with water to a height of 2.5-5 centimeters, and place a heatproof bowl on top. Make sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water.
Use a glass bowl. A glass bowl can heat ingredients more evenly
Step 2. Place 2 tablespoons (30 grams) of Vaseline, 1 teaspoon (5 grams) of shea butter, and teaspoon of coconut oil in a bowl
The shea butter and coconut oil will moisturize the lips, while the vaseline will act as a “holding agent” for the ingredients.
- If you can't find coconut oil, try jojoba or almond oil. Both work to moisturize the skin and lips.
- If you can't get (or don't like) shea butter, try using cocoa butter or coconut butter. Both of these ingredients will give a little taste to the lip gloss.
Step 3. Melt the vaseline, butter and oil over medium heat
Stir the ingredients regularly to melt thoroughly. The final texture of the mixture will appear smooth, and will not have lumps of remaining ingredients.
Step 4. Remove the melted mixture from the computer and add coloring or flavoring if desired
Remove the bowl from the pan and place it on a stable heat-resistant surface. For extra flavour, add 3-5 drops of your preferred flavor extract. For added color, add a little eyeshadow or powder blush.
You can also use instant drink powder to get color and feel to your lip gloss
Step 5. Quickly pour the mixture into an empty, cleaned container
You can use an empty lip gloss case or even a contact lens holder. If you want, you can use a small container to store leftover paint. You can usually find containers like this in the paint products section of an arts and crafts supply store.
Step 6. Cool the lip balm before use
If you don't have much time, put the mixture in the refrigerator and let it sit for a few hours. Once cool, the lip gloss mixture will become solid. You can dab it on your lips using your finger or a cotton swab.
Method 3 of 4: Using Instant Drink Powder
Step 1. Place 2 tablespoons (30 grams) of Vaseline in a small microwave-safe bowl
This amount is enough for one color/flavor. If you want to get multiple colors or flavors, you will need to make lip gloss for each color/flavor separately.
Step 2. Place the bowl in the microwave, heat for 30 seconds, and stir the ingredients with a spoon
Vaseline will appear clear and smooth, without residual lumps. If the vaseline has not melted completely, reheat for 15-30 seconds, then stir. Keep heating and stirring the vaseline until it is completely melted.
Step 3. Add 1 packet of instant drink powder
The more powder you use, the darker the lip gloss will be. The mixed flavors also become stronger. You can use any instant powdered drink you like, but berry-flavored powders usually have a pinkish hue. You can also mix in some powdered drinks for a "fruit punch" taste. However, make sure you pay attention to the resulting color.
Step 4. Pour the mixture into a small, empty, cleaned container
You can find empty containers in the paint products section of art supply stores (or stores like Miniso). Usually, a container like this is used to store leftover paint and can be used as a lip gloss container. You can also use an old lip gloss case, a cleaned contact lens case, and a pill box.
Step 5. Cool the mixture before use

Method 4 of 4: Using Deep Eyes or Blusher
Step 1. Put 2 tablespoons (30 grams) of Vaseline in a small bowl
You will need to mix the lip gloss in a bowl, then transfer the gloss mixture to another bowl.
Step 2. Find or buy an eye shadow or powder blush
If it's not available, scrape a bit of the eyeball and put it in a plastic bag. You can use a spoon, fork, or toothpick to scrape the eyeballs. After that, smooth the eyes with a spoon or fork until smooth. Make sure there are no clumps or chunks left so that the lip gloss doesn't feel harsh.
For a lip gloss with added shine, use an eye shadow or blush that already has shimmer powder
Step 3. Put the eye drops into the vaseline
Use small objects such as chopsticks or toothpicks. Stir all ingredients until evenly mixed. Don't let any stains, chunks, or lumps of material remain.
Step 4. Transfer the mixture to a small container
Once you get the color and texture you like, take the mixture and transfer it to a small container. Use a small spatula, butter knife, or spoon to transfer the mixture.

Tips
- You can use vanilla extract for a sweet aroma.
- You can use food coloring to color your lip gloss mixture, but some people say that food coloring actually makes the color last longer on your lips than you'd like.
- Add sugar to make a lip scrub.
- Decorate the container after filling with the lip gloss mixture using patterned or washi tape, stickers, and labels.
- For a shinier mixture, add more coconut oil.

- If you want to create a glossy lip gloss, you can add cosmetic shine powder or mica powder.
