In Indonesia, Canada, United Kingdom, and some European countries, temperature is measured in Celsius (°C). Meanwhile, in the United States, Belize, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and Palau, temperatures are measured in Fahrenheit (°F). Luckily, you can easily convert from one unit to another when needed. Simply plug the known temperature quantities into the relevant equations to perform the conversion.

Step

Method 1 of 2: Convert Celsius To Fahrenheit

Convert Celsius (°C) to Fahrenheit (°F) Step 1

Step 1. Write the following equation:

°F = (°C x 1, 8) + 32. You can also use the equation °F = °C x 9 5 + 32. Both will give the same answer because 9 5 = 1, 8. You can enter quantities (in Celsius) to one of the equations to convert it to Fahrenheit.

Step 2. Multiply Celsius by 1, 8

First, enter Celsius and multiply by 1, 8.

  • For example, if the temperature in Celsius is 20 degrees, multiply 20 by 1.8 until you get “36”.
  • Alternatively, multiply the temperature (“20”) by 9 until you get “180”. After that, divide 180 by 5 until you get "36".

Step 3. Add “32” to the calculation result

After multiplying the quantity by 1, 8 (or by 9, then dividing by 5), add “32” to the result of the calculation.

For the problem above, add 32 to 36 until you get "68". This means, 20°C equals 68°F

Step 1. Identify the equation to be used, namely °C = (°F - 32) 1, 8

You can also use the equation °C = (°F - 32) x 5 9 to get the same answer. Just enter a quantity (in Fahrenheit) and perform the calculations to convert it to °C.

Step 2. Subtract Fahrenheit by “32”

The first step that needs to be taken is to reduce the temperature or Fahrenheit quantity by "32".

For example, if the temperature in Fahrenheit is 90 degrees, subtract 90 by 32 until you get "58"

Step 3. Divide the result of subtraction by “1, 8”

After reducing the temperature by 32, the next step is to divide the result of the reduction by “1.8”.

  • For example, 58 divided by 1.8 equals "32, 22". This means, 90°F is roughly equivalent to 32.22°C.
  • Alternatively, you can also multiply 58 by 5 to get "290". After that, divide 290 by 9 until you get "32, 22". Regardless of the method followed, 90°F equals 32, 22°C.
