The Starbucks Gold Card is a gift that gives customers special offers, free drinks, and first-class service at all Starbucks stores. Although exclusive, you can earn Gold status by purchasing Starbucks products. Join the Starbucks Rewards program, then earn 300 “Stars” in a year by spending IDR 7,500,000 on coffee, snacks or other Starbucks products. Once successful, a Starbucks Gold card will be sent to your home.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Joining the Starbucks Rewards Program
Step 1. Register a Starbucks card online if you already have one
If you already have a Starbucks card as a gift or purchased it outright, use it to create a Starbucks Rewards account. Visit https://www.starbucks.com/rewards and register a Starbucks card by entering your personal information and 16 digit card identification number.
- You can register a physical or electronic gift card.
- Starbucks card must have a minimum balance of IDR 50,000.
Step 2. Sign up using the Starbucks app if you don't have a card
If you don't have a physical or electric Starbucks gift card, download the Starbucks app on your Android or iPhone. Press the blue button that says “join” at the bottom of the screen. Enter personal information to join the Starbucks Rewards program and create a virtual Starbucks card.
- To add a virtual card balance, press the card icon on the bar at the bottom of the screen. Enter payment information, then specify the nominal balance to be added.
- To use a virtual card, press the card icon on the bar at the bottom of the screen. Press the “Pay in Store” button in the lower right corner of the screen. The bar code will appear and will be scanned like a physical card by the cashier.
Step 3. Enter the code “Star” if you purchased Starbucks products not at Starbucks outlets
If you don't have a gift card, or you purchased Starbucks products at a convenience store or other store, you may find the "Star" code on product packaging such as coffee beans, instant coffee, or bottled drinks. Enter the code to https://www.starbucks.com/rewards. After that, follow the guide to join the Starbucks Rewards program.
- You can enter the “Star” code in the field at the bottom of the page. This column is under “Easy Ways to Join.”
- You will be asked to select a physical or electric Starbucks card to purchase products and earn rewards.
Part 2 of 3: Earning Stars
Step 1. Use the registered card to purchase products at Starbucks outlets
Purchase food, drinks, or other products at Starbucks outlets using a registered physical or electric Starbucks card. You will earn two “Stars” for every IDR 50,000 purchase using a Starbucks card.
- You must use a registered card to earn “Stars”. If using another card, it must be registered to your Rewards account.
- You won't get “Stars” when you top up your card balance, or buy alcoholic beverages.
- Products sold outside the United States will earn “Stars” according to the selling price. For example, if you spend IDR 50,000 at a Starbucks Indonesia outlet, you will get two “Stars” (same amount as spending 1 dollar).
Step 2. Enter the “Star” code of Starbucks products sold in other stores
If you buy coffee beans, bottled drinks, or Starbucks products at other stores, you can enter the "Star" code on the package to get a "Star". Visit https://www.starbucks.com/rewards to enter codes online and earn “Stars”.
- You can only enter 2 “Star” codes online each day.
- The number of “Stars” earned from the “Stars” code will depend on the type of product purchased and the price.
- The “Star” code will expire one year after the product expiration date. Pay attention to the product expiration date when entering the "Star" code for an old product.
Step 3. Upload a receipt for Starbucks products that you purchased from other stores
In addition to entering the "Star" code of a Starbucks product purchased from another store, you can also upload a photo of your receipt to https://www.starbucks-stars.com to earn a "Star".
- You can upload your receipt within two months of purchase to earn “Stars”.
- Make sure all parts of the receipt are visible and legible. Otherwise, the upload will not be accepted and you will not get a “Star”.
Step 4. Collect 300 “Stars” for one year to get a Starbucks Gold card
By following the guidelines above, collect at least 300 “Stars” within one year of joining the Starbucks Rewards program. After successfully collecting 300 “Stars”, you will get a Starbucks Gold card.
You will get 2 “Stars” after spending IDR 50,000 at Starbucks outlets. Therefore, you have to spend IDR 7,500,000 in one year to get the “Gold” status
Part 3 of 3: Completing and Maintaining “Gold” Status
Step 1. Enter your residential address online to receive a “Gold” card
After accumulating 300 “Stars”, log into your Starbucks account by visiting https://www.starbucks.com/account. You will receive a “Gold” card within 4-6 weeks after updating your address information.
Prior to receiving a “Gold” card, you will still receive a “Gold” status reward – including a free drink or snack for every 125 “Stars” – using a regular Starbucks card
Step 2. Top up Starbucks Gold card balance
When sent, the balance of the “Gold” card will not be filled. When the card has been received, fill in the card balance just like filling up a regular Starbucks card balance that has been registered. You can top up your balance using the Starbucks app, or log into your account to do so online. After that, you can use the “Gold” card to keep getting “Stars”.
- You can transfer your old Starbucks card balance to a “Gold” card. Log in to your Starbucks account, select “Manage”, then follow the prompts that appear.
- You can also transfer money to a “Gold” card by selecting “Pay” then “Manage” in the Starbucks app. You can also ask a Starbucks cashier to help with this.
Step 3. Continue to collect “Stars”
To maintain “Gold” status, you must collect 300 “Stars” within one year of receiving the “Gold” card. To earn “Stars”, buy drinks and snacks as often as possible at Starbucks outlets using a registered “Gold” card or regular Starbucks card.
- To earn “Stars” from Starbucks products sold in other stores, upload a receipt or enter the “Star” code online. This method will be very helpful if you only get "Stars" from Starbucks outlets but have difficulty accumulating enough "Stars" to maintain your "Gold" status.
- Check the number of “Stars” accumulated through the Starbucks app or by visiting https://www.starbucks.com/account to ensure you can achieve “Gold” status next year.
