This wikiHow teaches you how to create a new app folder on your home screen or app menu, and group multiple apps together in the same folder on your Android device.

Method 1 of 2: Managing Home Screen
Step 1. Show the device home screen
Unlock the device by entering the security code, or press the “Home” button to access the home screen.
Step 2. Touch and hold the icon of the app you want to move
You can move the application shortcut to another part of the home screen.
Step 3. Drag the app icon to another icon
A new folder will be created and the two applications will be grouped in a folder. The contents of the new folder will automatically be displayed on the screen.
Step 4. Edit the new folder name
Touch column “ Enter folder name ” at the top of the pop-up window, then type a folder name.
Step 5. Touch and drag more icons to the folder
If you want to move another app to the same folder, touch and hold its icon, then drag it to the new folder.
Method 2 of 2: Managing Application Menus or Pages
Step 1. Open the menu or app page of the device
The “Apps” icon usually looks like several dots arranged in a square. You can find it on your device's home screen.
Step 2. Touch the icon
It's in the top-right corner of the app's menu or page. Once touched, several options will appear in the drop-down menu.
Step 3. Select Edit on the drop-down menu
With this option, you can regroup applications in the application menu.
- This option may be labeled “ Rearrange apps ”, depending on the version of Android you are running.
- On some older phones and tablets, you may need to switch to a custom layout on the app menu/page before you can edit it. In this situation, touch the button “ Apps ” at the top of the app menu/page and select a layout “ Custom ”.
Step 4. Touch and hold the app icon on the menu
The application will be selected and you can move it to another part of the menu.
Step 5. Drag the app icon over another icon
A new folder will be created and its contents will be displayed.
Step 6. Touch and drag more icons to the new folder
If you want to group multiple apps in the same folder, simply touch the app icon to a new folder on the apps menu/page.
