Prefer bacon slices that are thick and slightly chewy when you bite into them rather than thin, crispy slices of bacon? If so, try making it yourself at home instead of constantly buying it at restaurants for cheap prices! To make classic grilled bacon, simply line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, then place the bacon on top and bake in the oven until it's crispy. For a sweet-tasting grilled bacon with a strong smoked aroma, use a smoked bacon and coat the surface with maple syrup just before the bacon is finished baking. If you want, you can even make bacon pralines by coating the surface with a mixture of brown sugar and pecans before baking.

Step
Method 1 of 3: Baking Bacon in the Oven
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 204 degrees Celsius
While waiting for the oven to heat up, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. To practice this recipe, make sure you use a large baking dish to accommodate the drippings of oil from the roasting bacon. Then, line the entire bottom and edges of the pan with aluminum foil to make cleaning easier.
Step 2. Arrange the bacon in a single layer on top of the aluminum foil
Prepare about 450 grams of thick-cut bacon, then arrange each piece on a baking sheet that has been lined with aluminum foil. Don't stack the bacon and make sure there's enough space between each piece of bacon to cook it evenly.
If you prefer a very crispy bacon texture, place a grill rack on a baking sheet that has been lined with aluminum foil. By using a grill rack, the very hot air in the oven will circulate better around the bacon. As a result, the texture of the bacon will be evenly crisp when cooked
Step 3. Bake thick cut bacon for 10 minutes
Place the baking sheet with the bacon in the preheated oven and bake the bacon for 10 minutes. Although it really depends on the thickness of the bacon and the final texture you want to achieve, it should be perfectly cooked after 10 minutes of baking.
Step 4. Re-bake the bacon for another 10 minutes, if desired
If you feel that the bacon is not crunchy after 10 minutes of baking, feel free to bake it again for another 10 minutes without turning it over.
Step 5. Transfer the cooked bacon to a serving plate; serve bacon immediately
Place a few sheets of paper towels on a serving plate to absorb excess oil from the bacon, then put on heat-resistant gloves before removing the baking sheet with the bacon from the oven. Then, use tongs to move the bacon onto a serving plate. Serve the grilled bacon while it's warm!
Step 6. Store leftover bacon in the refrigerator for 4-5 days
Place the bacon in an airtight container, then store the container in the refrigerator. If you don't mind the texture of the bacon which is no longer crunchy, you can also eat it cold, lo! However, if you want to restore the crunchy texture, feel free to heat the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until the desired texture is achieved.
If you wish, you can also warm the bacon in the microwave. To do this, simply place the bacon to be reheated on a heat-resistant plate, then warm the bacon at 20-second intervals until there are no more parts that feel cold to the touch or eaten
Method 2 of 3: Baking Bacon with Maple Syrup
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 204 degrees Celsius
While waiting for the oven to heat up, line the entire bottom and edges of the baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Then, place the grill rack on the baking sheet.
Step 2. Arrange the bacon on the grill rack
Place 350 grams of thick-cut smoked bacon on a rack and make sure there is enough space between each slice.
Step 3. Bake the bacon for 15-20 minutes
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the bacon until the surface begins to crisp and brown.
Step 4. Brush the surface of the bacon with maple syrup
Pour 1-2 tbsp. Place maple syrup in a small bowl, then put on heat-resistant gloves and remove the baking sheet with the bacon from the oven. Then, dip a pastry brush or barbecue brush into the bowl of syrup, and spread the maple syrup evenly over the entire surface of the bacon.
- For best results, use natural maple syrup, not pancake syrup, in this recipe.
- Be careful when touching the pan. Remember, at this point, the bottom of the pan will be covered with very hot oil dripping from the inside of the bacon.
Step 5. Bake the bacon for 3-5 minutes
Return the baking sheet to the oven, and continue roasting the bacon until it is completely crisp and turns golden brown in color.
Step 6. Serve the bacon
Remove the pan from the oven and place a few sheets of paper towels on a serving plate. Then, use food tongs to move the bacon off the grill rack onto a serving plate. Serve the bacon right away!
Step 7. Store leftover bacon in the refrigerator for 4-5 days
Place the bacon in an airtight container, then store the container in the refrigerator. If you don't mind the texture of the bacon that is no longer crispy, you can also eat it cold, lo! However, if you want to restore the crunchy texture, feel free to heat the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until the desired texture is achieved.
If you wish, you can also warm the bacon in the microwave. The trick, simply place the bacon on a heat-resistant plate that is safe for use in the microwave, then warm the bacon in 20-second intervals until there are no more parts that feel cold when eaten or touched
Method 3 of 3: Making Baked Candy
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 191 degrees Celsius
While waiting for the oven to heat up, line the entire bottom and sides of the pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
Step 2. Arrange the bacon on a grill rack that has been placed on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil
Place the grill rack on a baking sheet that has been lined with aluminum foil, then arrange 8 pieces of bacon on the grill rack with a distance of about 2.5 cm between each piece of bacon. Using a grill rack will improve air circulation around the grilled bacon. As a result, the texture of the entire surface of the bacon will be evenly crisp.
Step 3. Bake the bacon for 15 minutes
Place the baking sheet with the bacon in the preheated oven and bake the bacon until the surface is slightly crunchy but not fully cooked on the inside, about 15 minutes.
Step 4. Combine the pecans, brown sugar, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper powder
Take a small bowl, then add 65 grams of chopped pecans, 100 grams of brown sugar, 60 ml of maple syrup, and 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper powder into it. Stir all the ingredients until they are well combined and have a gritty texture.
Step 5. Pour the icing over the entire surface of the bacon
Remove the pan from the oven, then pour the icing evenly over the entire surface of the bacon. If necessary, use the back of a spoon to ease the process of spreading the icing.
Step 6. Bake the bacon for 8-10 minutes
Return the pan to the oven and bake the bacon until it is completely crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
Step 7. Serve the bacon immediately or let it cool for a while
Transfer the bacon to a serving plate and serve immediately. If you want the icing on the top of the bacon to harden, let it cool completely, or put the bacon in the refrigerator to speed up the cooling process before serving.
Step 8. Store leftover bacon in the refrigerator for 4-5 days
Place the bacon in an airtight container, then store the container in the refrigerator. Since warming the bacon can melt the icing on the surface, it's best to eat it chilled.
