Mickey Mouse is a classic cartoon character who has big ears and an expressive face, so it's perfect if you need some drawing inspiration. These characters are also quite easy to draw, even if you are inexperienced. Basically, Miki's face is just a few ovals stacked in a certain order and contains a nose, two eyes, and two ears. Mickey's are easiest to draw if they're facing the front, but you can also draw them sideways if you want to make it a little more complex. When the head is done, you can add the body, pants, and a cute big pair of shoes!

Method 1 of 3: Draw Mickey in Her Signature Pose
Step 1. Draw a circle to make the main part of the head
Draw a circle using a pencil. This first circle will be the main part of Mickey's head so make it as big as you want. Try to make the circle as perfect as possible.
- If you want to start with a perfect circle, try tracing a round object, such as the bottom of a bottle, plate, or glass.
- This method will allow you to erase a lot of lines after drawing Miki's main shape so don't press the pencil too hard when creating your first set of drawings.
Step 2. Draw 2 curved and intersecting lines on the left side of the circle to turn it into a ball
The first line will start from the top of the circle. Drag the pencil around the left side of the circle to create a line that curves to the left. Then, draw a second curved line. Pull the pencil from the end of the left side of the circle to draw a curved line down so that it is a U-shaped, all the way to the center of the right side of the circle. These two lines will make the circle look like a ball.
- These two lines are often called the center line or contour line, which is usually used as a guide for where the eyes are on the nose. Later this line will be deleted so don't make it too thick.
- If you want Mickey to face right, reverse the direction of the curve of the vertical contour line and draw on the right side of the circle. Turn the side of each step so that it is on the opposite side.
Step 3. Draw a small circle sticking out at the intersection of the two contour lines
At the point where the two center lines meet, draw a small circle about 1/10 the size of the large circle. Position the small circle so that its upper right side touches the point where the contour lines intersect.
This small circle will become Miki's nose. In the end, you will delete the bottom half of this circle
Step 4. Create a slightly smaller egg-like image on top of the small circle
Draw an egg standing on the top left side of the previously created circle. Tilt slightly by about 15 degrees of the entire image. This will be Mickey's nose button, and will not be removed.
If you don't tilt it slightly, Miki's nose will look like it's being pulled back. If Miki's nose button is too flat, she will appear confused or angry
Step 5. Draw 2 ears on the right and top right side of the big circle
Create Mickey's ears by adding 2 equal sized circles on the top right and extreme right of the large circle. Make it so that the bottom of each ear overlaps the large circle.
- You will delete the overlapping part, but not the outside/exterior.
- The size of the ear should be about 3/5 of the large circle.
Step 6. Divide the head by drawing 3 shapes in the center of the big circle
To separate the black part of Miki's head from her face, create a figure 3 with the top curve sloping down and the bottom curve falling to the left. Join the bottom corner of the number 3 to the bottom of the circle, but leave the top curve of the number 3 apart from the top of the circle. Once the top curve of the number 3 reaches the top left of the circle, draw a line connecting it directly to the head.
- Everything has to be done in one unbroken stroke.
- Miki's mouth will be in the lower slit on the left. Miki's eyes will be in the upper slit on the left.
Tip:
This shape is quite strange and at first it feels strange to draw. It's a good idea to make this section very thin so that it can be adjusted as you draw.
Step 7. Draw a line connecting the bottom of the small circle and the middle of the large circle
Start at the bottom of the small circle (not the egg image, but the circle below it) and make a U-shaped curve towards the center of the large circle, slightly below its center point. This will be the bottom of Miki's muzzle and the top of her lips.
You will be erasing the lower right of the small circle leaving a curve from the intersection of the contour lines to the beginning of the line you just created
Step 8. Draw a smaller, deeper U shape under the line you just created to create the mouth
Start right where the big circle meets the muzzle. Pull the pencil down and extend a little past the big circle's border. Pull the pencil back up so that it meets the end of the line you just made.
- Make it look as if the top of the U is flatter than the deeper U.
- You will erase everything inside these 2 lines to create Mickey's mouth.
- Draw the tongue by creating two connected bumps at the base of the U. This will look like a small blunt m.
Step 9. Create the lower lip by drawing a curved U parallel to the bottom of the mouth
Draw a second U curve under the lower mouth. Start at the muzzle and stop after slightly cutting the border of the large circle.
The gap between these two arches must be very small. You will delete everything between these 2 lines
Step 10. Add 2 eyes by drawing a large oval on the right and a small oval on the left
Create the first eye by drawing a thin oval to the right of the vertical contour line and the top left of the number 3 line. Make a small oval between the left side of the vertical contour line and the right side of the large circle's left border.
Make pupils at the bottom of Mickey's eyes. You can fill it in or leave it blank
Step 11. Bold the initial sketch with ink or marker and erase the overlapping lines
You can remove guide lines and overlapping ones before or after thickening the outline of the image using ink or a marker. Erase the lines that intersect inside the ears, the inside of the mouth, the guide lines, and the bottom right of the muzzle. Bold other lines using black ink or finish the drawing first.
If you're going to color a picture, make everything to the right of the number 3 line black. Give the skin color for the face, and red for the tongue
Step 12. Done
Method 2 of 3: Drawing Mickey's Body
Step 1. Start drawing Mickey's pants by making a curved line at the waist and working your way up to both sides
Miki's pants looked like blunt squares. You can draw it in the middle, or sideways to one side. Make the left, right, and top of Miki's pants under her head. Leave some space between Miki's head and the top of her pants. Try to make the top of Miki's pants smooth and curved by sticking it out a little in the middle. Thus, Miki will look like her belly bulged.
- The amount of distance left between the top of the pants and the bottom of the head will determine the length of Miki's torso. Usually, Miki looks quite fat so the distance between her head and pants doesn't need to be far.
- You can draw it with a pen if you want, but you won't be able to erase all the mistakes later.
Step 2. Draw the bottom of the pants by making wide leg holes on each side of the pants
You can make these two leg holes parallel to each other, or move one of the leg holes so that Miki appears to be standing slightly sideways. Leave the top line of each square blank so that each leg hole appears to blend into the pants.
Each leg hole of Miki's pants is quite wide. Miki's pants usually look like high-waisted shorts
Step 3. Put 2 large oval buttons in the middle of Miki's pants
The two large buttons on these pants are Miki's trademark. Draw 2 clear ovals on the top of the pants. This oval should appear more vertical than a regular oval.
If you want Miki to look like she's facing the left, make the buttons on the left slightly smaller than the ones on the right so that the smaller buttons appear farther apart
Step 4. Draw two short lines from each side of the pants to Miki's head
Tilt each line slightly inward so that Miki's body appears to be pointing towards the center of the head. This line should be fairly thin, and don't go all the way to Mickey's head.
These two lines will form the sides of Mickey's torso
Step 5. Draw Miki's arms and fold them on her back for easy creation
Draw a line from the head to become Miki's upper arm. Then, draw a line starting right from the end of the torso line previously created to draw Miki's forearm. Draw these two lines out and down at a 45 degree angle. Stop at about the height of the center of the button, and turn inward so that Miki looks like she's holding her hands behind her back. Repeat these steps to draw the arm on the other side.
- This is the classic Mickey Mouse pose.
- Miki's hands are quite complicated to draw, but you can try them if you want. Miki has 4 fingers and her hands are roughly the same size as her head. Don't forget that Miki always wears gloves!
Step 6. Draw Miki's leg sticking out from the middle of her trouser hole
Make each leg go in the direction you want. Each leg should be as wide as Mickey's arm to be proportional. Normally, Miki's legs are the same length as her pants. So, stop if you feel the length of the legs is right.
- Make one leg slightly wider than the other to make Miki appear to be standing sideways.
- Leave the bottom of the foot blank for now because shoes will be added later.
Step 7. Give Miki big shoes with donut-like ankles
Miki has large shoes that are almost round, but the ankles look like donuts and Miki's feet are sticking out of the hole in the middle. Draw a small curved line under the leg opening to close it. Draw the "donut" section of the shoe starting at the side above the ankle and working it around the front of the arch. Leave a little space in the middle and draw a large oval to finish off Miki's shoe.
Give Miki's pants red, and yellow for her shoes, if you like
Tip:
Mickey is sometimes depicted as having a tail, but it is often ignored by people. If you want, you can draw Mickey's tail sticking out from behind starting from the bottom right of his pants. This tail is usually very thin. Curl your tail so that it appears more flexible as you get closer to your feet.
Step 8. Done
Method 3 of 3: Draw a Front-facing Mickey
Step 1. Draw a flat oval in the center of the page as Mickey's nose
Start by creating Mickey's nose by depicting the button on the tip of the muzzle. Make an oval in the middle of the page that looks a bit flat. This oval looks like a symmetrical egg lying sideways.
- Start in the center of Miki's face and draw outwards to make sure her facial features stay proportionate.
- Using this method, you don't need to erase so feel free to use a pen if you are confident. Otherwise, use a pencil and thicken the stroke later so that all mistakes are not permanent and can be corrected.
Step 2. Draw a curved line above the nose and space it evenly between the nose and the line
Draw a curved line slightly above the nose, which is identical to the top half of the oval. This curved line will act as the base for Mickey's eyes.
Try this curved line no longer than the oval so Miki doesn't look like she's sleepy
Step 3. Draw 2 thin ovals leading to curved lines to create the eyes
From the front, the bottom of Miki's eyes seemed to be hidden behind the muzzle. Draw 2 equal-sized ovals extending from below the curved line above the nose.
- About of the bottom of the oval appears to disappear because the eyes are blocked by the muzzle.
- Make ovals that are thinner than the nose, slightly extending upwards, and slightly apart from each other.
Step 4. Put a pupil in each of Miki's eyes
Inside each eye, draw a pupil at the bottom of each oval. Make it so that it fills every corner closest to the midpoint. In other words, the lower quarter of each pupil will be invisible.
The lower right of the left pupil and the lower left of the right pupil will be hidden
Step 5. Draw Miki's smile with cheek lines at each end of the smile
Under the nose, draw a wide smile with one stroke. Miki's smile stretched horizontally, until each end was at the same height as the middle of the nose. Put a curve of cheeks at each end of the smile to give the classic look of Miki's mouth.
We recommend that the curve of this cheek line almost resembles a standard smiling face
Step 6. Apply a U shape under the previous line so that Miki's mouth looks open
If you want Mickey's mouth to open slightly, draw a deeper U-shaped line in the middle of the previously drawn line. Start the line slightly to the left of the nose and curve down until it reaches the center vertical axis of the nose. Increase the arc when it crosses this vertical axis.
Draw the tongue by affixing two bumps that meet in the middle of the bottom of the opening between these two lines
Step 7. Outline Miki's face by drawing it around her facial features
Start outlining Mickey's face by drawing it around his eyes and mouth. Start at the bottom and work your way around the entire face. Make sure you expand Mickey's cheeks slightly when drawing around the edges of Mickey's smile.
Sometimes Mickey has eyebrows, sometimes he doesn't. You are free to choose. To draw the eyebrows, draw 2 small curved lines above each eye between this outline and the edge of the eye
Tip:
Draw everything around Miki's facial features. The outline of Mickey's face should consist of a single line that goes around the eyes, cheeks, and bottom of the mouth.
Step 8. Apply 3 lines, one each on each side, and the top of Miki's head
Near the side where the left cheek is sticking out, draw a parallel line that runs from the cheek to the space between the eye and the outline. Leave a little free space for the left ear then draw a continuation of this line as the top of Miki's head, from the center of one eye to the center of the other eye. Leave another gap for the right ear, then draw a line on the right side of Miki's face, which is symmetrical to the previous line on the left side, until it touches Miki's cheek.
Make sure the slits on each side are the same size so that Miki's ears are symmetrical
Step 9. Draw 2 circles on each side to make the ears
Create each ear starting at the end of the previously left slit, and draw a circle to the other end of the slit near it. The bottom of each ear circle doesn't need to be drawn so the 3 lines and 2 ears look like they were made with just one stroke.
- You can actually draw this part in one stroke if you have good pen control and a careful eye.
- This part of the ear easily looks like an oval. If so, add outlines when coloring the ears and the back of the head.
Step 10. Apply black on the back of Miki's head and ears
Paint Miki's ears and the back of her head black. If you want to color the rest of the body, give the tongue red, the skin color for Miki's face.
