If you want to save space in your suitcase or drawer, consider rolling your things up instead of folding them. When folding and rolling clothes, you must smooth out the wrinkles in the clothes. As much as possible do not roll clothes made of materials that are too smooth and/or too stiff. Rolling clothes made of this material can damage and wrinkle the fabric.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Roll Up Shirt
Step 1. Place the shirt on a flat surface, making sure the front of the shirt is facing down
Gently use your hands to smooth out any existing wrinkles. Smoothing out fabric wrinkles is an important step. Rolling up the pleats without smoothing them will shrink the fabric.
- Make sure to only roll the shirt to a medium thickness. T-shirts that are too thin or too thick will wrinkle when rolled up.
- If you roll up thin and stiff t-shirts, you will need to iron or dry them before wearing them.
Step 2. Fold each sleeve towards the center
Take the left sleeve of the shirt and fold it in the middle. Take the right sleeve of the shirt and place it over the crease of the left sleeve. Use your hands to smooth out any existing wrinkles.
- If you're rolling up a long-sleeved shirt, fold the sleeves diagonally across the back of the shirt so that the sleeves form an "X" shape. Smooth out any wrinkles.
- If you are folding a collared shirt, unfold the collar. Smooth out any wrinkles.
Step 3. Roll up the shirt
Take the bottom edge of the shirt and fold it about 2.5 cm. Smooth out any wrinkles. Roll the t-shirt from the bottom edge to the collar, using your desired level of roll density. As you roll, make sure you continue to smooth out any wrinkles.
- T-shirts that have been rolled up can be stored in a drawer.
- If you're packing clothes for travel, place the rolled-up shirts in a large plastic bag. This will prevent the T-shirts from unrolling and falling apart.
Method 2 of 4: Roll Up Pants
Step 1. Place the pants on a flat surface
Arrange the pants so that the waist is closest to you. Use your hands to gently smooth out the wrinkles.
Leaving the wrinkles there and not smoothing them out will create creases
Step 2. Fold the pants in half
When folding pants, the back pocket should face outward. Use your hands to smooth the fabric.
Do not roll up pants made of fabrics that wrinkle easily, such as linen
Step 3. Roll up the pants
Starting at the waist, roll up to the edges of each leg. When rolling, smooth the wrinkles that appear on the pants.
To keep the roll tight and the same, roll up the pants with both hands
Method 3 of 4: Roll Up Skirt
Step 1. Place the skirt on a flat surface
Position the skirt so that the top is wide and the waist is close to your body. Smooth the fabric to remove wrinkles and creases.
If you roll up a folded fabric, wrinkles will appear on the fabric
Step 2. Fold the skirt in thirds
Fold the left side of the skirt towards the center. After that, place the right part of the skirt on top of the left.
Between folding, smooth the fabric
Step 3. Roll up the skirt
Use two hands to roll the skirt from the waist to the hem. When rolling, smooth out any wrinkles that appear.
Roll away from your body, not toward your body
Method 4 of 4: Rolling Up Crumpled Items
Step 1. Put the goods into the plastic garment bag
Place the wrinkled item on the hanger. Close the plastic garment bag until it covers the item.
The garment bag will help prevent the item from creasing
Step 2. Place the garment bag on a flat surface
Arrange the items so that the hangers are far away from you. Take the time to smooth out the wrinkles in the item and the garment bag with your hands.
Smoothing out wrinkles and creases will protect your clothes and prevent them from creasing
Step 3. Fold and roll up the garment bag
Fold the left and right sides of the garment bag towards the center. Fold the remaining plastic over to the bottom of the bag. Starting at the bottom edge, roll the item onto the hanger. Make sure you don't roll it too tightly.
