Vans shoes are not cheap. So, don't waste your money on fake shoes. You have to check everything from the packaging to the logo to the shoe design. If possible, compare the shoes you're about to buy with Vans shoes that are proven to be genuine.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Checking the Packaging
Step 1. Scan the barcode (barcode)
The box should have a label that lists shoe size, country of manufacture, and barcode. Use your phone to scan the barcode. The barcode should match the type of shoe in the box.
- To scan a barcode with your phone, go to the App Store according to your phone type, and look for a barcode reader app. Some of the most popular apps are ShopSavvy and ScanLife. Once installed, open the app and use the phone's camera to scan the barcode.
- If the packaging doesn't have a label, these Vans shoes are clearly fake.
Step 2. Check the price of the shoes
Usually, the price of Vans shoes is around IDR 500,000 per pair. If someone is selling Vans shoes at a lower price, chances are they are fakes.
Step 3. Check the packaging paper
There should be paper in the box to keep the shoes from scuffing. If the paper isn't there, your shoes are probably fake.
Step 4. See if the box is properly closed
The Vans shoebox should have a lock. The label at the top of the box will be inserted into the box and closed tightly.
Counterfeit shoe boxes often do not have a locking mechanism. The top of the box will simply cover the box, without keeping it tightly locked
Step 5. Compare paper labels
Each pair of Vans shoes should have a paper label bearing the company logo. If you have genuine Vans shoes, compare the sizes and fonts of the paper labels. Fake shoes usually have larger paper labels.
Step 6. Check out reviews of shoe sellers on the internet
Search the internet for the name or shop that sells Vans shoes. Check if the reviews are positive. Make sure the seller has contact information where they can be reached. If the seller is reluctant to provide his phone number or address, chances are the shoes are counterfeit.
Method 2 of 3: Checking Shoe Brand Stamp
Step 1. Look for three brand stamps (Trademark)
There should be a paper brand stamp on the side of the shoe. The brand's stamp is also printed on the plastic on the back of the shoe. The last brand stamp should be on the insole.
Step 2. Check for defects in the branding
The logo stamp should be spelled correctly. Compare the font on the logo to other proven Vans shoe fonts.
The color of the brand stamp printed on the shoes varies, but the font is always the same. The letter "V" must have a line extending to the far right. The “ans” part should be below the line
Step 3. Look for the dark and neat logo located on the insole
On fake Vans shoes, this logo is usually a faded color. Genuine Vans shoes have a logo that is bright, clear, and easy to read.
Method 3 of 3: Checking Shoe Quality
Step 1. Check the pattern on the bottom of the sole
The original Vans shoes have an interlocking parallelogram and rhombus pattern. There should be three country letters printed on one of the parallelograms.
The three-letter country code should match the code on the sticker inside the box
Step 2. Check the seams of the shoes
Genuine Vans shoes have tight, even seams. If the shoe has double stitches, with two stitches in one hole, it's most likely a fake. In addition, if there are stitch patterns that are not straight or the hole spacing is irregular, the shoes are definitely fake.
Step 3. Feel the shoelaces
Shoelaces should be stiff to the touch. Fake shoes usually have very soft laces.
Step 4. Check the neck collar at the toe of the shoe
Vans shoes have a collar at the toe (toe) to protect them from damage and wear. Although the rubber part feels smooth, the edges have a rough texture. Fake shoes usually don't have a pattern on the hem.
- There should be a small gap between the rubber collar and the shoe fabric. This gap is filled with a small layer of soft plastic, such as the area around a shoe. Fake Vans shoes usually have a collar that extends all the way to the fabric without any gaps.
- Compare the rubber collars of the shoes you are examining with those that are proven to be genuine. If the textures of the two are similar, the shoes are genuine.
Step 5. Check the red sheet on the inside of the heel
Supposedly, the original Vans shoe had a little red cloth on the heel. This fabric is at the very top of the heel, but not more than 1.25 cm long.
Step 6. Check the toe angle of the shoe
The toe of the shoe should be slightly curved upwards. If the bottom of the toe is flat, it's probably a fake.
Step 7. Check if the shoe can be bent
The toe of Vans shoes should be able to bend. Genuine Vans shoes can be folded so that the front and back of the shoe touch each other. Fake Vans will feel stiff.
