Liquid latex is a chemical commonly used on leather to create a smooth covering, as a second skin. Typically, liquid latex is used as makeup to create special effects in movies or to create realistic-looking scars and wrinkles for scary costumes. When you're done using it, cleaning the latex marks is an easy job that only requires soap and water. Check out step one to start learning how to clean it.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Cleaning Latex Trays
Step 1. Clean the latex-covered area with warm, soapy water
To clean latex marks, you can use bath soap (bars) or liquid bath soap mixed with warm water. Massage the area with your hands or a brush to help remove the latex material from your skin.
If you purchased a latex kit, it may already come with a soap specifically made for cleaning latex. Ordinary liquid bath soap can also be used to clean it
Step 2. Carefully remove the latex layer from your skin
Hold the edges between your fingers and pull the latex layer away from the skin underneath. You may also need a warm cloth that you can use to make your skin feel comfortable while cleaning the latex.
- Latex is highly elastic, so keep your fingers or wipes away from the contact area of the latex and your skin to reduce the pain of pulling it off your skin.
- The longer the latex stays on your body, the easier the marks will be to clean; As time passes, sweat and the skin's natural oils will remove the latex layer.
Step 3. Moisten the area covered in latex
If the latex has stuck to your hair, wet the area with warm, soapy water and massage the skin carefully. Pay attention to areas of hair growth on the forehead, eyebrows, and other sensitive areas where hair or hair grows. Do not remove the latex quickly, as your hair or hair may be pulled out too.
Step 4. Rinse your body with warm water after the latex has been removed
This will clean any small components that may still be attached to your hair or skin. Dry your body with a towel.
Part 2 of 2: Preparing Your Body to Make Latex Easy to Clean
Step 1. Shave the area of the body where the latex will be applied
Since latex marks are the most difficult to clean in areas with a lot of hair growth, shaving them off first will make it easier to clean later. Shaving your feet, hands, mustache, beard, etc. will prevent the pain of latex cleaning when you're done with your costume.
Areas that don't look hairy may also have fine, short, invisible hairs that will stick to the latex. Don't forget to shave your back, stomach, etc
Step 2. Use a skin moisturizer before applying latex
Moisturizing your skin with a good moisturizer before applying latex is another way to help make latex clean up easier. Grease your body with a moisturizer that can keep your skin and body hair from sticking too tightly to the latex.
Step 3. Use oil to protect sensitive areas
If you don't want the latex to stick to your eyebrows, eyelids and other sensitive areas, you can use olive oil, almond oil or any other oil you have available to protect them. Be careful not to pour it where it will be completely covered in latex.
