Snake bites are piercings on the lower lip just below the fangs. This piercing accentuates the lips, making it a great accessory for a date, concert, or other activity. Snake bite piercings do look cool, but they have drawbacks. The wearer can suffer permanent gum damage and irritation from rubbing against the piercing. What's more, getting two piercings at the same time is very painful and most people avoid it. Luckily, fake snake bites are quite easy to make or buy. If you want to use a snake bite but are afraid of hurting your lips, the following methods are worth trying.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Making Fake Snake Bites with Book Spirals
Step 1. Slightly unscrew the binding wire from your notebook
The wire should not be too straight when opened. If you already have, that's okay. The wire can be rolled up again with a pen or marker.
Step 2. Cut two rings from the exposed wire
Ideally, the two ends should overlap slightly to allow room to bend the wire. Make sure the rings are the same shape and size, but if they're not exactly the same that's okay too.
Step 3. Shape the rings
Grasp one of the rings with pliers and use the other pliers to make the ring more circular. If you're having trouble forming the ring, roll the wire around a pen or marker and use pliers to tighten the loop.
Step 4. Bend each end of the ring with wire
Use pliers to bend each end of the wire by about 0.6 cm and fold it so that it is aligned with the ring wire. The ends of the wire are bent so as not to press the outer and inner lips. When bent, make sure the end of the ring is wide enough to tuck into the lips. Adjust the distance according to the thickness of your lips.
Step 5. Reshape the ring
Use pliers and a pen or marker to reshape the ring once the ends are bent. Shape it according to the final result you want.
Step 6. Try attaching your snake bites to gauge the fit
Simply tuck each ring onto your lower lip and arrange them so that they are symmetrical. These two rings should be just below the canines. If the piercing is too loose or too tight, gently squeeze or pull the ring until it is the right size.
Method 2 of 3: Making Fake Snake Bites with Paper Clips
Step 1. Open the paper clip
First, pull the ends together so they look like the letter S, then straighten the clip completely. Use pliers to straighten the clip if it's too difficult with your fingers. The wire doesn't have to be exactly straight, as long as it no longer looks like a paper clip.
Step 2. Shape the wire
Grasp one end of the clip and use the pliers to start winding the wire around the pen or marker. Use one pair of pliers to grip the wire and the other to curl it until you have two full rings.
Step 3. Take the coil of wire from the pen/marker
Try not to bend or loosen the wire further when you remove it, or you'll have to repeat the previous step.
Step 4. Cut two rings from the paperclip wire
Ideally, the two ends of the wire should overlap slightly so that there is room to bend the wire. Make sure the size and shape of the two rings are the same. However, if it's not exactly the same that's okay.
Step 5.
Step 6. Reshape the ring
Use pliers and a pen or marker to reshape the ring once the ends are bent. Shape it according to the final result you want.
Step 7. Try attaching your snake bites to gauge the fit
Simply tuck each ring onto your lower lip and arrange them so that they are symmetrical. These two rings should be just below the canines. If the piercing is too loose or too tight, gently squeeze or pull the ring until it is the right size.
Method 3 of 3: Making Fake Snake Bites with Beaded Rings
Step 1. Purchase two beaded rings from a jewelry store
This ring has many sizes and materials to choose from. Choose a ring that suits your taste. Don't worry about the color and design of the beads because they will be removed later.
Step 2. Remove the beads
Remove the beads by gently pulling both sides of the ring and letting the beads fall. These beads can be discarded unless you want to save them for another piercing.
Step 3. Try attaching your snake bites to gauge the fit
Simply tuck each ring onto your lower lip and arrange them so that they are symmetrical. These two rings should be just below the canines. If the piercing is too loose or too tight, gently squeeze or pull the ring until it is the right size.
Tips
- Store fake snake bites in a small plastic bag or medicine box so they don't get lost
- If you want to add color, try painting the two rings with nail polish in different colors. Apply a coat or two of paint and let dry overnight.
- If you are under 18 years old, then explain it to your parents first so they don't get angry. Explain that this "piercing" is fake and you made it yourself.
- Although snake bites are usually worn on the lower lip, you can try experimenting. Try wearing both rings on one side, or right in the middle of your lips.
Warning
- Even though this piercing is fake, it will pinch your lips when you put it on or take it off. Be careful when wearing or removing the ring, and when the ring is worn.
- Discontinue use if irritation occurs on your lips and gums. See a doctor if irritation persists.
- These two rings can come off because they are not attached tightly. Remove both rings before bedtime, eat and drink so as not to be inhaled, bitten or swallowed!
