This wikiHow teaches you how to examine the HTML source code of a web page's visual elements in Google Chrome using a computer.
Step
Step 1. Open Google Chrome on the computer
The Chrome icon looks like a colorful ball with a blue dot in the center. You can find this icon in the “Applications” folder on a Mac computer or the “Start” menu on a Windows computer.
Step 2. Click the three vertical dots icon
It's next to the address bar, in the upper-right corner of your browser window. After that, a drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Hover over More Tools in the drop-down menu
After that, the submenu will be displayed.
Step 4. Click Developer Tools on the “More Tools” submenu
An inspection column will be displayed on the right side of the browser window.
Alternatively, you can open the inspection window with a keyboard shortcut. Press Option+⌘ Cmd+I on Mac computers and Ctrl+Alt+I on Windows computers
Step 5. Hover over the element in the inspection column
When the cursor is hovered over an element or line in the inspection window, the corresponding element will be marked on the web page.
Step 6. Right-click the element you want to inspect on the web page
The right-click menu will appear in the drop-down box.
Step 7. Select Inspect on the drop-down menu
After that, the inspection column will be shifted up or down to that element. The source code of the element will be flagged.
