Step 1. Choose a job that you are really interested in
For example, you should choose a job related to physics, journalism, sports or online marketing if you feel motivated to study it both personally and professionally.
Step 2. Choose a profession that is your talent
Talent is dexterity for a particular profession and the ability to improve over time. It's hard to believe that anyone can become an expert in any field.
Although with practice one can become quite an expert, but someone who does not have dexterity in music will find it difficult to become an expert pianist
Step 3. Do a “planned exercise
“When you're training in a planned manner, you need to test yourself with difficult tasks in your area of expertise rather than just practicing at your current level. If you want to become an expert, then make a plan to practice a planned 10,000 hours before you can call yourself an expert in the field.
Step 4. Give yourself time to practice
There are very few people who can achieve 10,000 hours of practice in less than 10 years. By working hard on your job or hobby for 10 years, you will have the experience in your curriculum vitae to support you as you begin to become an expert.
Note that the time may vary depending on the specific field. For example, you need about 700 hours of practice to become an expert in yoga and about 42,000 hours to become an expert in neurosurgery. Job publications can give you information about how much time you need to devote to doing the task
Step 5. Read work-related books and work publications
Support your experience with study and research. Always keep up to date with the latest information in your work.
Step 6. Learn from today's experts
Take classes, conferences and certifications that can prove you've learned a lesson from the best.
Step 7. Obtain proof of your expertise
Earn a master's or doctoral degree if you plan to work in business or science. Education, whether self-taught or related to a degree, is an important part of promoting yourself as an expert.

Part 2 of 2: Promoting Skills
Step 1. Contact the company you work for
Tell them that you want to write articles for your blog or company newsletter. Be the face of the company you currently work for.
Step 2. Start creating a personal blog
Write expert advice. Make sure that your posts cater to industry players, not just the general public.
- Become a guest blogger. Contact other company blogs and volunteer to make regular posts on their own pages.
- Optimize your blog for social media. Have a Facebook and Twitter account, so people can find you and follow your blog link.
Step 3. Sign up to teach a class
Look for job vacancies at universities in your area or at the Lifelong Learning Center. Trying to teach your skills is essential to selling yourself as an expert consultant.
Step 4. Become a mentor
Sign up on Pivot Planet or Skill Share as an expert in your field. Add this to your curriculum vitae along with your experience and education.

- You can also post your own video classes on YouTube or Vimeo. Post the videos on your blog as “expert advice.”
Step 5. Sign up to speak at the conference
Teach a class or be a keynote speaker. When a certain job conference asks you to speak without having to submit an application, then you know that you are considered an expert.

Trade your knowledge with web page or business to business consulting. You can also become a coach for young people trying to get started in your work.
