If you booked your flight ticket via the internet, telephone or a travel agent, it is a good idea to check your ticket booking the day before departure. When checking flights, you can choose your seat, buy food and make any special requests you need. Confirm your flight information, make special requests, and be prepared to check in on the day of departure.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Confirming Flight Details and Information
Step 1. Visit the airline's website to check in and confirm flight details
Go to the airline's website, or click the "Register" button in the confirmation email sent by the airline when booking your ticket. Once you enter the check-in menu, you should be able to see your flight information, including the number of passengers, departure time and city, and arrival time and city.
Even if you book your ticket through a travel agency company (eg Traveloka or Tiket), you still have to register your flight through the airline's website. You can confirm flight details through the travel agency's website, but check-in and special requests must be made via the airline's website
Step 2. Check your departure information
At this point, you can also view your boarding pass, and find out your seat number and boarding zone. If you don't have a reservation number, you can look up departure information via your flight number and last name. Check the email you received when you purchased your ticket for your reservation or ticket number.
Step 3. Confirm your reservation details
When checking before your flight, you should make sure that the specific details of your flight have not changed. Visit the airline's website and use the flight Confirmation Number provided to check your flight on the internet and make sure the flight number and destination are correct.
You can also check the specific details of the original reservation to confirm the date, location and time of the flight. To do this, click on the web page that says "Manage Reservation". “My Trips” (my trip), or “My Trips/Check-In” (my trip/check-in). The writing on each airline may be different, but it should be easy to find
Step 4. Check your flight departure time
When you check in on the website, see if your flight was canceled or delayed. This information should be easy to find: look in the email the airline sends at the time of reservation, and check flight times. Then, enter the Confirmation Number on the airline's website, and check if the departure and arrival times have not changed.
If your flight is delayed, the airline will usually notify you via email or text message (SMS)
Method 2 of 3: Checking for Special Requests Over the Internet
Step 1. Pay attention to special requests on airline websites when checking in
Once you've checked your reservation, you can check the options that the airline provides regarding food ordering, pet check-in, baggage storage, and seat selection. Once your reservation has been checked or changed, verify your reservation.
Be aware that you will incur additional fees if you change your flight information after making a reservation. If possible, try to confirm all your special requests before making a reservation
Step 2. Order food to eat during the flight
While confirming your flight, you can choose what food to eat during the flight. This meal is still payable as domestic flights no longer provide meals. Each airline has different policies and food options. So make sure you know what's available on your plane.
- Contact the airline in advance if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies. Contact the airline directly or contact via email if you require special meals or have severe allergies to certain foods so that they can be prepared on the day of departure. Usually airlines provide several options for various diet variations.
- International flights usually provide meals to passengers.
Step 3. Pay for the luggage that goes into the trunk and is carried into the aircraft cabin
Airlines charge a fee for carry-on items that are left in the baggage and brought into the cabin. Make sure you check in and pay for all your belongings before leaving for the airport. If you did not do this when making the reservation, payment can be made when checking in on the internet or at the airline service counter at the airport terminal.
- If you know how many bags you want to leave, enter the amount and pay before departure using a credit card.
- In the US, charges for items that are left in the baggage and carried into the cabin are usually more expensive 24 hours prior to departure. Plan the payment of all your luggage well.
Step 4. Choose a flight seat
For most airlines, you can specify a preferred seat (by the window or aisle) or choose a specific seat, if your seat has not been assigned. Some airlines charge a fee for selecting a seat, while others only charge for first class seats that have more legroom.
Most airlines allow you to select your seat before departure. Check in on your flight and find the best seat location for you
Step 5. Check in the pet
If you are traveling with a pet, make sure all the details have been verified in advance with the airline. The process of bringing a pet on board can be difficult, and you need to prepare everything before departure. Small pets you can bring in the cabin. Make sure your pet cage complies with airline sizes and rules. Large pets are not allowed in the cabin and must be checked in.
- There are some size requirements for cages that go up in the cabin and enter the trunk. You can view this guide on the airline's website or call the airline's contact number.
- Make sure you check in beforehand for any special weather restrictions. Airlines have travel restrictions for pets by season. Make sure with the airline that you are not subject to a ban on bringing pets on board.
Method 3 of 3: Checking In on the Day of Departure
Step 1. Check in 24 hours before departure
You can check in through the airline's website, and look for the “Check in” page. Once you've verified all your flight information, it's time to do your final check-in. You will need to enter additional information to confirm your identity.
- Make sure you check in all luggage, seats and pets on the airline's website before departure time.
- Complete check-in of all your belongings, seats and pets. If it's been added previously, make sure your special request has been responded to by the airline.
Step 2. Check in at the airport terminal
Once you've checked in on the airline's website, get ready for the final check-in at the airport. Have a driver's license, passport or government-issued photo ID ready as the airline must verify your identity. The airport terminal is a busy place, so be prepared to present all the necessary paperwork so you can get through the queue quickly and easily.
Print your flight confirmation or boarding pass at the terminal kiosk upon arrival at the airport. If you're in a hurry to get to the airport, you can also print out your boarding pass after checking in on the flight on the airline's website
Step 3. Bring the items to be checked in at the airline counter
Make sure your luggage is ready to be given to airline employees at the terminal. Make sure your luggage is safe and ready to be put in the trunk. Before leaving your luggage, make sure it weighs according to airline requirements. Usually, if the weight exceeds 20 kg, you will be charged an additional fee.
Make sure your luggage is well marked and easy to find. It is possible that your carry-on bag is similar to someone else's bag. Give something that distinguishes your luggage so that it is easy to identify when you arrive at the destination airport
Step 4. Bring the checked pet to the airline counter
If you are traveling with a pet, make sure it is safe and ready to travel in its cage. Your pet must be fed and calm during the flight. Take the extra time to leave your pet so the flight attendants can check your paperwork.
- Pets usually have an age limit to be able to board the plane. Generally, the age limit specified is around 6-8 weeks.
- Small dogs and cats also need to have a health certificate from a veterinarian near the time of departure and arrival. How close the time for making a health certificate is to the time of departure is usually determined by the airline.
Step 5. Prepare the luggage that will enter the cabin
Small bags can be carried on board. However, items must comply with regulations and be easy to store in the cabin. Make sure the size of your luggage meets the specified size requirements. Most bags that are carried must be able to fit into the storage area above. Airports usually have a measuring box to test the size of your luggage.
Make sure your luggage is not too heavy. Heavy luggage will be difficult to move inside the aircraft and terminal
Step 6. Prepare your pet for the plane ride
Small pets can also be brought into the aircraft cabin, although they must be placed under the seat in front of you. Pets should also be ensured calm and ready to fly. Do not let your pet make noise during the flight because it will disturb you and other passengers.
