This wikiHow teaches you how to play Candy Crush Saga on a computer or smartphone.

Part 1 of 3: Starting the Game
Step 1. Download the app first
If you want to play Candy Crush Saga on your iPhone or Android device, you can download the app for free:
- iPhone - Open “ App Store ", touch " Search ”, search the app using the search keyword "candy crush saga", touch the button “ GET ” next to the "Candy Crush Saga" heading, and enter your account password or Touch ID if prompted.
- Android - Open “ Google Play Store ”, search for the application using the search keyword "candy crush saga", select " Candy Crush Saga ", touch " INSTALL, and touch " ACCEPT ' when prompted.
- If you want to play Candy Crush Saga on a desktop computer, skip this step.
Step 2. Open Candy Crush Saga
Tap the Candy Crush Saga app icon which looks like a series of candies to open it.
If you want to play Candy Crush Saga on a desktop computer, visit via a computer browser and click the “ Play Now ” which is on the right side of the page. You may need to log into your Facebook account first.
Step 3. Adjust the game settings
If you want to mute the game sound or its sound track, click or tap the settings gear icon (“ Settings ”) in the lower-left corner of the screen, then click or tap the option you want.
While playing a level, go to the menu “ Settings ” and select the door icon to exit the game.
Step 4. Touch the Play button
It's at the bottom of the screen. After that, the Candy Crush Saga level display will be unlocked. At this stage, you are free to play.

Step 1.”) and click the button “ Play!
” which is below the pop-up window.
- You may be asked to allow notifications if playing on a mobile device.
Part 2 of 3: Learning How to Play
Step 1. Understand the purpose of the game
Usually, your goal in Candy Crush Saga is to clear as many rows and columns as possible in as few steps as possible. To clear candy pieces from the board, line three (or more) of the same candies in a line. You can move the candies by swapping their place for another candy holder to make a series of three of the same candy.
- The initial goal of Candy Crush Saga is to get a certain number of points with a certain number of "rational" steps.
- As you pass the levels in Candy Crush Saga, other objectives (eg getting a certain score within a set time limit or removing one type of candy from the board) will appear more and more frequently.
Step 2. Pay attention to the board game Candy Crush Saga
There are a few key components you need to pay attention to here:
- The number shown at the top of the screen is the number of steps remaining.
- The progress bar in the upper left corner of the screen displays the current score.
- The "target" number in the upper right corner of the screen determines the goal of the current level.
Step 3. Recognize the consequences of winning and losing the game
As with any other game, winning or losing in each level has its own consequences:
- You can unlock new levels by winning games in Candy Crush Saga. In addition, this victory can also unlock some additional bonuses and boosters from successfully completed levels.
- When you lose in Candy Crush Saga, the current level will be returned to the beginning, and you will also lose one life. While the lives are automatically replenished every 30 minutes or so, you only have five lives for one game session (without buying additional lives).
Step 4. Match three (or more) sets of the same candies
Candy Crush Saga is played by sliding the candies in any direction (as long as they are not blocked) to create a series of three or more candies of the same suit. When they match, the candies will be crushed and the candies above will be lowered into the row below them. With this mechanism, you can achieve several different goals.
Step 5. Match more than three of the same candy to make a combo
You can match three of the same candies in a row/column to remove them from the board. However, by pairing more than three candies, you can remove them from the board and create special candies that you can use to destroy other candies:
- If you successfully match 4 candies, a special candy will be created. This special candy can destroy a row of candies (in its entirety) as long as it is used as part of a series of 3 (or more) candies.
- If you can successfully pair 5 or more candies in a “T” or “L” pattern, you can make a wrapped candy. When paired, these special candies will blow up candy boxes around them. After that, this candy will detonate the next block (within a 3x3 radius) on whatever box it occupies.
- If you manage to match 5 candies in a row, you can get a color bomb that resembles chocolate with messes. When swapping places with other candies, the color bomb will remove all candies of that type from the board.
Step 6. Use boosters
You can get some boosters early in the game. You can also buy almost any booster from the game using real money. This feature helps you win levels when you're too upset or struggling to continue the game. However, be careful when using it because you never know when you really need it.
Among the available booster options, there are boosters that add a "ration" of moves, such as a popsicle hammer (can destroy any desired candy on the board) and random candy (can reposition all the candies on the board). Its functionality will be explained when you get a booster, although most of the available boosters need to be purchased in order to use them
Step 7. Reach the goal set on the game
Each level has a “target” score or goal which is displayed in the top right corner of the game board. This score or goal can be a certain number of points, the destruction of a certain series of squares, or other things like placing all the candies to the bottom of the board.
Step 8. Watch the level tutorials
As Candy Crush Saga levels introduce a new concept, you can view a tutorial explaining how the new concept or rule works. If you don't know how the level at hand works, usually a level tutorial can explain it.
You can always skip the tutorial by clicking or touching the “ Skip ” is displayed.
Step 9. Pass the levels
You will play a series of games, and each level has a different game board with different objectives. Each of these sessions will take you to the next level. By winning levels, you can unlock the next levels.
Part 3 of 3: Using Strategy to Win the Game
Step 1. Remove the tricky and dangerous candies from the board first
There are some tiles, such as bombs or chocolates that must be removed first when they appear on the board. Tiles filled with bombs or chocolates like that can hinder your progress or cause you to lose.
Bombs can end the game if they are not discarded within the move limit shown on the front. Meanwhile, the chocolate will "replicate" if it is not crushed
Step 2. Look at the board as a whole before taking a step
As with chess, you need to think of a few moves from the start when playing Candy Crush Saga. Spend a few minutes estimating potential combinations and considering the outcome of multiple candy pairs, unless time is applied to the level/game.
This strategy may take some time at first, but the more you play, the faster you will be able to recognize patterns and opportunities
Step 3. Pay attention to the corners of the board
You'll have lots of levels where the game board isn't perfectly rectangular, or has a number of gaps. You will need to make a plan for the gaps as the different gaps or board shapes will make it difficult for you to make candy pairing sequences.
Step 4. Reshuffle the board if it seems too confusing
As you become more familiar with the game, you can tell when the board is too difficult to complete. You can reshuffle the board using a booster or exit the game before taking any steps.
Step 5. Ignore the suggestions the game gives
If you don't take a step for a long enough time, the game will suggest a move. These suggestions are given at random and it will actually be more profitable if you ignore them. If you don't have a time limit, take the time to find a better move. If you just want to increase your points before the time limit expires, you can take suggestions from the game.

Some levels have different objectives that you must achieve, including:
- Reach the target score within the given step limit (target score).
- Reach the target score within the given time limit (game with time).
- Throw all the jelly candies off the board.
- Reach ingredients by clearing paths using candies (Ingredient Drop).
- Collect order (Candy Order).
- If you're really having a hard time completing a level, try not playing for a few days. These tips don't guarantee you will skip difficult levels right away, but they can help you find solutions to those levels when you get back into the game.
- You can send lives to your friends when they ask for it.
