Minecraft is a Sandbox game where your wildest imagination lives. One of the objects in this game is a sign board. With a signboard, you can type text into it, and when you're done someone else can see what you wrote. To know how to make a signboard, read on!
Step
Part 1 of 3: Gathering Materials
Step 1. Gather the materials
Making a sign means having to get wood. Use an ax or sword to chop down nearby trees. To make one sign, you will need:
- 6 wooden planks
- 1 stick
Step 2. If you haven't already, assemble a wooden plank and stick
If you already have one, skip straight to the next step. If you don't know how to make wood into wooden planks, as well as sticks, read on.
- Assemble a wooden plank from wood. One wooden block will turn into 4 wooden planks. Therefore, to make one sign you will need at least 2 blocks of wood.
- Assemble sticks from two wooden planks. Place two wooden planks in a vertical line on the crafting table to make 4 sticks.
Part 2 of 3: Assembling the Signboard
Step 1. Place the Stick in the bottom center of the Workbench
Step 2. Then place six wooden planks on top of the stick
The wooden planks should occupy the middle and third sections above the workbench grid.
Step 3. Assemble the signboard
Take a sign board and make as many signs as you want with the raw materials you have.
Part 3 of 3: Placing and Using Signs
Step 1. Place the sign wherever you want
If you place it on the ground, floor, a stick will appear sticking the signboard into the ground. Placing the sign on the wall will not show the stick. Signs will also be placed in the direction in front of you; for example if you face the diagonal direction while placing the sign, the board will face that direction.
- You can place a sign on any of the following items: blocks, fences, glass, other signs, minecart tracks, and even on chests (while sneaking).
- If you place the sign under water, water bubbles will appear once it is placed. You can use these air bubbles to breathe underwater.
Step 2. Type the text
A text box will appear after you place the sign. The text box has four paths, each of which can hold 15 characters, so the total character for all is 60 characters.
After completing the text, the only way to edit the text is to destroy the sign and place it again
Step 3. Note that liquid cannot pass through the sign
Liquids such as water and lava cannot pass through the space occupied by a sign, so a sign is very useful as a water stopper (say, you find an air pocket under water and want to block it from the flow of water).
The signboard can also be used as a sofa arm. Assemble two signs and place them on either side of the sofa or chair stand
Tips
- Living near the forest is a faster way to find trees.
- Use Signboards for marked areas. Name the type of area you are in.
- Signboards are used for Text, Sofas, Chairs and Water Directions
- All types of Wood are good enough to assemble Signboards. Is it Regular, or Jungle wood.
- Signs cannot be used as weapons
