Do you feel that you are constantly sending resumes in vain? When you write a memorable goal on your resume, you have a greater chance of getting it noticed. Follow these steps to write a goal on your resume that can make you stand out from a lot of people.
Step
Step 1. Look at the company's published advertisements for job openings
Otherwise, look at the job description if you're not sure if the company has a vacancy.
Step 2. Choose keywords from job advertisements or job descriptions to use when writing objectives
- Always write the name of the job position to be applied for correctly.
- Look for phrases that describe job-appropriate abilities. Take note of the phrases that really fall within your strengths.
Step 3. Research the company's organization and industry as a whole
Learn about the company's target direction and how the company is trying to position itself in the world market. Use keywords in the curriculum vitae to demonstrate an understanding of the company's needs.
Step 4. Write down the word “GOAL:
” in bold, capital letters, below the name and contact information at the top of the curriculum vitae. Goals should be aligned on the left margin.
Step 5. Avoid starting the goal with the words “I want”, “I hope” or “I am looking for”
Start with a direct statement about the job, even if you're writing paragraphs for the purpose on your resume.
Step 6. Make 1 to 3 short statements using the selected keywords
Write in active sentences, and avoid using passive sentences. Use punctuation at the end of the statement of purpose.
Step 7. Avoid overcrowding your curriculum vitae with all the qualifications you have
Choose the most suitable element that can be offered to the company, based on the requirements for the position needed.
Step 8. Double-space after the destination to keep your resume easy to read
Step 9. Check for spelling and grammatical errors in the destination section
Tips
- Due to the number of resumes submitted during job openings, many companies use software to scan them. The software selects resumes containing keywords according to the job, then removes resumes without those keywords. For this reason, you should never skip the step of researching keywords for job positions on curriculum vitae purposes.
- The purpose of the curriculum vitae is not always necessary. For example, the goal may be skipped if you are qualified to apply for multiple positions within one company or if you take it to a job fair.
