Are you ready to be highlighted up close? To become a star is not enough just by luck. You have to learn to recognize and develop your natural talents into abilities that will enable you to climb the ladder to stardom. With hard work, career management, and self-promotion, you can unlock opportunities for fame and fortune. Do you have the capital to become a star?
Step
Part 1 of 3: Developing Talent
Step 1. Find talents that match your natural abilities
If you want to be a star, you have to specialize. What will make people recognize you? What skills, abilities, or talents will take you to the top? To discover the qualities that can make you a star, think about what you find easiest to do, and listen to suggestions from others.
- Are you a talented athlete? When you and your friends are playing sports, do you always get picked first, or do you score the most points? If so, maybe you have the talent to be a sports star.
- Do you love music? Do you enjoy singing, playing an instrument, or dancing to music? Maybe you have the talent to be a pop star, singer, or rock star.
- Do you have a talent for speech? Do you have the impression of a convincing and organized, leader among your friends? Did everyone hear what you said? If so, maybe you have the talent to be a politician.
- Do you like pretending? Do you like movies, plays and television? Has anyone ever said that you had a dramatic impression? If you're a good actor or actress, maybe film stars are in your future.
Step 2. Find a trainer
To develop your talents to star level abilities, you need help. If you want to be professional, be it acting or sports, politics or music, you must have information from someone who knows better and learn to hone your skills from an expert in that field. Start taking acting or music classes. Find a personal trainer for the sport you play. Get an internship with a local politician, or volunteer for a campaign. Learn all you can from people who know more than you.
Also look for role models in your field. If you want to be an actor, which actor do you imitate? Who do you want to match? Find someone who is a role model for your career
Step 3. Learn your skills
Honing skills will require a lot of effort and hard work, either under the guidance of a coach or practicing on your own. For stars, learning a skill should be a 24/7 job. Even when you're flipping burgers, you have to practice your dialogue. Even if you are on the bus to school, you have to repeat the exercise you did.
Soak up all the media you can. Watch a classic movie or listen to the kind of music you want to create
Step 4. Practice
Make a regular practice schedule and devote as much of your free time as possible to improving your talent in the struggle to become a star. Beginning politicians should practice speech and public speaking. Musicians must practice musical notation. Actors must practice dialogue and study the scene. Pop stars have to practice their dance. Athletes must exercise.
Focus on the right things. Actors are sometimes tempted to get into superficial things. Updating social networks, checking TMZ and tabloid gossip is not a "rehearsal" for stardom. All of that is just a waste of time. Learn your skills, nothing else
Part 2 of 3: Marketing Skills
Step 1. Get entry-level jobs in your chosen industry
The first and even the most challenging aspect of becoming a star is being recognized. Make contacts with key people in the industry by starting from the bottom. Enter the industry from the ground up and have confidence that your talent will take you further.
- Do you want to star in movies and be famous? Find a job as an electrician in filmmaking. Filling empty seats at shows, extras, and technical crews is a common part of Hollywood. You do want to act, later on, but if you can put your skills to work as a make-up artist, as a backup cameraman, as a member of a lighting crew, you'll be much closer to that, and you'll be working.
- Politicians generally start by working for other people's campaigns. Donate your time to the politicians you support and build relationships with people who will help your political career.
- Athletes must work in coaching, or in stadiums filling other jobs. Be a bench pointer for spectators to be able to watch the game for free, or seek a permit. Rip the ticket at the stadium and one day you might end up in the middle of the field.
- Musicians are best when they work for and with other bands. Learn how stage sound works and help out at the venue, or get a job selling promotional items for the band you love. Become a tour crew and learn what life is like on tour. Feel up close.
Step 2. Start building the network
As you make your way into the industry, make sure you keep in touch with everyone you meet along the way. Try meeting people who are similar to you, those who also aspire to be musicians, actors, politicians, or athletes who are on the same level as you and have the same goals. Help each other and celebrate the successes and achievements of your friends. Work towards goals together.
- Stars can be a bit competitive, and it's true at the top there isn't much room. But getting caught up in petty competition can bring you down far faster than you manage to climb. Have a positive attitude.
- Make yourself accessible. Create a LinkedIn page, or a "fan" page for a professional social network so you can separate your industry and personal contacts for easier management.
Step 3. Take a job you can get
Give a speech to a politician you don't really like? To be the third reserve in the worst playing team in the league? Advertisement for hemorrhoid cream? A job like that may not sound ideal for someone who wants to be a star, but a job is a job. Think of the job as an experience that will be part of an amazing success story one day.
Take every opportunity as an opportunity to prove yourself and overcome all situations with your stellar abilities. Be a star
Step 4. Be a pro
Amateurs attend auditions half-prepared, drunk, barely regular; the movie star arrived after a full rest, already rehearsed, and ready to finish the scene. Rock stars don't party the night before a concert, rock stars make sure they're in top shape to perform at their best. Enter all jobs with professionalism and serenity. Carry yourself as if that's where you belong. Act like a pro, and you'll act like a star.
Step 5. Get an agent
Building all the contacts you need in the industry can be difficult on your own. In most fields of entertainment as well as in politics, you should have a relationship with an agent who can help represent you and arrange auditions, contacts, and jobs, while you focus on the more important thing of being the best you can be.
Usually, the agent will get a percentage of your earnings, but sometimes not at the start. It's also possible that initially you will have to be willing to pay periodic installments to get the agent to work for you. You have to be wise in choosing the agent you will work with, to get the contacts and jobs you need
Step 6. Recognize a change in direction as it appears in front of you
Regardless of whether you believe in destiny or not, a star must learn to recognize change and welcome every opportunity as an opportunity to improve their star abilities. Forget your ego when you have to and give yourself a chance to succeed. One shot might be the difference between a regular job and full stardom.
- A small, one-liner role in a film with a respected director may seem inadequate, but it means you're working with the best in the field. It is an opportunity.
- Opening for a major band might seem like a step back if you've already toured with your own group, but the chance to open a live legend? It only comes once in a lifetime.
Part 3 of 3: Facing the Stars
Step 1. Keep challenging yourself
Once you've made your way up and made your way to the top, it's important that you stay busy. Celebrities come and go, enjoy 15 minutes of fame and then disappear just as quickly. But real stars can learn to live their careers with a lifelong effort to produce challenging, captivating and engaging work that people will enjoy and keep them captive in the experiences you bring to life for years to come.
- If you are an actor, take on a different role and do whatever will challenge the fan's conception of you as the actor. You can follow Sean Penn in Milk, Daniel Day-Lewis in My Left Foot, and Charlize Theron in Monster.
- If you are a musician or other performer, challenge yourself to keep the consistency level of your music high. Devote time to your recordings and performances. Don't fall for cheap and commercial music.
- If you are a politician, expand your interests into various fields and be open to changes over time. Support issues that will put you on the right side of history, rather than just chasing votes with polls. Have integrity.
- If you're an athlete, focus on staying physically fit and keeping your game at the highest level. Don't be seduced by nightclubs, updating social networks, or doing anything that's off the pitch. Be the best.
Step 2. Maintain a healthy relationship with the media
Stardom can be too heavy a crown to wear and even strong and talented people can fall from fame. Learning to come to terms with stardom is a challenge that you should seek well in advance of and tackle as quickly as possible. Learn to give time to the media in exchange for your celebrity status.
- Find out the names of the reporters who interview you frequently and talk to them as you would any other person. Don't be arrogant with "ordinary" people. If you're being followed by the paparazzi, give them five minutes in exchange for privacy later that night. Give them the bait they want.
- Public failures, such as those of Charlie Sheen, John Edwards, and Chad "Ocho-Cinco" Johnson, are difficult to reverse. Learn to recognize when you need time so your career doesn't crash.
Step 3. Take some time to get away from the spotlight
Bright light CAN melt stars. Allow yourself to rest, relax, and spend some time away from the limelight so you can return to your star career refreshed and ready to carry on with the work that brought you there.
If you've already starred in blockbusters, go somewhere and take part in a small role that you believe in. Dedicate everything you have to detail and art. Record your next album in a studio located in a remote location instead of a downtown studio
Step 4. Take care of your health
Stardom means living at a fast pace, always on the move, sleeping little, and working until tired. Sometimes it is very difficult for some people to eat right, avoid drugs and alcohol, and get enough sleep. Schedule regular doctor visits and consult a dietitian to ensure you are getting enough vitamins and nutrients in your busy life, and to be the healthiest version of yourself.
