YouTube is a platform that can make anyone famous. Every day people gain fame without having to spend a lot of money. The newest laptops and tablets are now equipped with webcams (cameras built into laptops and cell phones), microphones, and great video editing software. However, there are hundreds of thousands of videos uploaded to YouTube every day. As such, novice YouTubers (people who create videos on YouTube) may find it difficult to grab the attention of viewers. Increase your chances of becoming a YouTube star by knowing how to plan video content, optimize your channel, and increase your viewer count.

Part 1 of 3: Planning Video Content
Step 1. Create a YouTube channel
Create a free basic account. After that, click the upload link at the top right of the YouTube page. The link is in the form of an arrow pointing up. After that, you will see the channel creation instructions. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
If you already have a Google account, you will get a YouTube account automatically. Enter the username and password used to log in to Gmail, Google+, and others
Step 2. Choose a camera
You can use any type of camera. A webcam, cell phone camera, or digital camera can be good choices. If you have enough money, consider buying a better quality camera. Cameras aimed at casual users can be obtained for under IDR 3,000,000.00.
- If you really want to make a career as a YouTuber, buy a HD (High Definition) camera or a good quality DSLR camera. The camera produces better quality videos that can attract viewers to subscribe to your channel.
- Laptops, tablets, and computers are usually equipped with a voice recording or video editing program. If you're using a Mac, you can use Quicktime. If you are using Windows, you can use Windows Media Maker.
Step 3. Focus the video content on your best skills
Make a list of your skills. For example, if you have a good voice, try becoming a singer. Take advantage of your debating skills to host an editorial. If you have a lot of knowledge about art history, you can become a teacher. Choose your skills to use as your channel's content and signature.
Step 4. Know what topics are popular
Open your browser in Private or Incognito mode to view popular videos that were not selected based on your viewing history. On the left side of the YouTube page, click the “Trending option. Videos in the “Trending” and “Shared and Liked” lists have the most views. Here are ways to find popular topics or videos:
- Ask friends what they are watching.
- Check social media accounts to see what videos are trending.
- Search for phrases like “popular YouTube videos” or “popular YouTube videos” in search engines like Google or Bing.
Step 5. Look for unique ideas
Once you know the topics and videos that are popular, you have to create videos in a unique way. If you want to make an editorial video that addresses hate speech, you may have to compete with other YouTubers. Find out how to make your channel memorable to viewers. Consider the age range and interests of the audience you are targeting. Determine if your channel name implies a unique idea. Think of a video that you'd like to watch, but haven't been made by another YouTuber. It's a good idea to consider whether or not you can create multiple videos by applying your drafts.
Step 6. Contact other YouTubers
Find YouTube stars who have similar channels to yours. Ask him if he'd like to collaborate with you on some videos. Let him know that you really like his videos and would like to work with him on a project. It's a good idea to show your ideas even if the concepts aren't very detailed. You can send private messages to other YouTubers by following these steps:
- Click the channel owner's username. You can find the username under the video title.
- When you have opened the YouTuber's channel page, click the "About" tab ("About").
- At the top right of the page, click the "Send Message" button.
- Type your message and then click the "Send" button.
Part 2 of 3: Optimizing Channels
Step 1. Be prepared to record unexpected moments
Take your phone or camera with you wherever you go. When you're lucky, you might record something ridiculous that could go viral. Also, you may be recording something serious and helping to bring justice to an innocent person. If the recorded video doesn't match your project, save the recorded video file for later use.
Step 2. Find out how famous YouTubers edit videos
Pay attention to the use of different camera angles, close ups, and scene transitions on famous YouTubers' videos. If the video focuses on your face for a few minutes, change the camera angle. For example, if the camera is facing your face, move the camera angle three-quarters from its original position. When you are demonstrating, record up close the project you are working on. Listen to background music or white noise playing on famous YouTuber videos. You don't have to copy the way famous YouTubers make videos. However, knowing video creation techniques can help you produce high-quality videos.
Step 3. Set Up Notifications (Notifications)
If you're waiting for a video to finish uploading (upload), set your channel to automatically notify Subscribers that you've uploaded a new video. Click the "Advanced Settings" option ("Advanced Settings") and scroll down to find the "Distribution Options" option. The "Notify Subscribers" box ("Notify Subscribers") should be checked automatically. If not, tick it. This way, all of your subscribers will receive an email (email) automatically when you upload a new video.
However, if you want to upload multiple videos at once, we recommend that you uncheck the "Notify Subscribers" box. If you upload 20 videos in one day, Subscribers may be angry that they received 20 emails
Step 4. Fix Caption
After uploading the video, you can set and edit Automatic Caption automatically. No matter how clearly you speak, Automatic Caption will contain a lot of spelling errors. This can be distracting to your audience who is deaf and has hearing problems. Take sufficient time to read and correct the caption after uploading the video. Ask the audience for help to let you know if they see a typo.
Step 5. Interact with the audience
Replying to audience comments can be a great start. However, that alone is not enough. Start interacting with your audience on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. Use specific hashtags (#) when you're talking so fans can easily find what you're talking about. Interacting with fans not only makes them admire you, but also attracts the attention of people who haven't subscribed to your channel.
Part 3 of 3: Increasing Viewers
Step 1. Don't expect you to get success quickly
Only a few YouTubers get to fame quickly by uploading their first video. Many YouTubers have to work hard to increase their View count to double digits. Be patient and use every opportunity to promote your channel.
Step 2. Share your video on social media
Below the YouTube video is an arrow-shaped icon and the word "Share" is next to it. Click on the icon and select the social media icon you want to send the video to. A pop up window (small window containing certain information) containing a summary of your video will appear. You can edit the summary or leave it alone. Most importantly, don't change the link. Websites like Twitter and Facebook will play videos without having to open a new window or tab.
Step 3. Enter the YouTube contest
Search the internet or on YouTube to find out what channels are running contests. Find contests related to your channel. Browse the rules. If you can make a video before the deadline, enter the contest. Usually viewers have to vote on how entertaining, educational or funny the video they are watching is. If viewers like your videos, they may subscribe to your channel.
Step 4. Send the email
Contact all friends and family members in the address book. Try sending a message like: “Hi everyone! Try watching this YouTube video I made. Let me know what you think, okay? Most likely they will send the video link to other people so that you will get more viewers.
Step 5. Use the
Writing tags on videos makes search engines show your video when someone searches for certain terms. Funny cat videos usually have the following tags: “comedy” (“comedy”), “cat” (“cats”), “funny” (“cute”), and so on. Make sure the tags you write accurately describe your video and channel. Don't use inappropriate tags to get more views. You'll feel like you've been dishonest and disappointed viewers will leave negative comments.
Step 6. Create thumbnails
As a default, YouTube selects three images taken from your video. The image will be used as a thumbnail (a small image used to describe the content of the video). If the image selected by YouTube doesn't accurately describe your video, create your own thumbnail. Take a selfie, screenshot, or other image that describes your video in an interesting way. Enter a few lines of text describing the thumbnail as well as the video title.
Step 7. Take constructive criticism seriously
Every video created by a budding YouTuber isn't perfect. If your audience compliments your script delivery but tells you that background noise is distracting, find an easy and free way to get rid of unwanted noise. Increasing the video quality little by little will make your channel look professional.
Tips
- Wear neat and clean clothes when shooting video.
- Mention other YouTubers in your video and include their channel link in the video description. This is done to involve yourself in the YouTube community.
- Try to convey a positive message and be an inspiration to people.
- Creating a vlog (video blog) is a good way to maintain fame.
- Make a video expressing your gratitude to the audience. Be sure to leave comments like "You guys are awesome!" and "this channel wouldn't be this big without your help".
- Do whatever you love that people might like too.
Warning
- If you come across a comment that threatens you with violence, report the commenter immediately. Chances are you're not the only person being teased and threatened. Not everyone will like your video. However, don't let yourself feel threatened because there are people who can't treat your videos with maturity.
- Do not make videos that contain pornography. Your videos and account will be deleted if caught making such videos.
- Do not make videos that violate IPR (intellectual property rights). You cannot become a YouTube partner if your channel violates IPR.
