Ginger can be frozen to make it last longer, it can be whole ginger or ginger that has been chopped. You can freeze and store it for daily use. You can store quite a lot of ginger at once in the freezer.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Whole Ginger
This method is suitable for long-term storage and storing ginger that has been used a little before.
Step 1. Choose ginger that is still fresh and has no defects
Make sure that the ginger is clean; if the ginger is dirty, wipe it clean with a cloth and make sure the ginger is dry before you start the process.
Step 2. Wrap the ginger pieces in kitchen plastic or foil
Wrap the pieces of each piece of ginger in its own pack if you want to freeze more than one ginger.
Step 3. Put the ginger pieces in a resealable bag
Adjust the size of the bag you are using to the size or amount of ginger to be frozen. Press the plastic to let air out before closing it tightly.
Step 4. Put it in the freezer
Remove the whole ginger for one use. Let the ginger thaw first, then use as usual.
If you are cooking a stir fry and you have a sharp knife, you can split the ginger before thawing, this will make the ginger melt faster
Method 2 of 4: Minced Ginger
This method is useful if you usually prefer to use chopped ginger.
Step 1. Choose a suitable piece of ginger
Peel the skin and chop. Use a fine grater or food grinder to chop the ginger.
Step 2. Arrange the trays lined with parchment paper or foil
Step 3. Form the chopped ginger with a teaspoon or tablespoon and spread it on a tray lined with tinfoil/baking paper
Make sure the shape and spacing between the ginger is appropriate. Repeat until all the chopped ginger has formed.
Step 4. Carefully cover the tray containing the ginger with a piece of kitchen plastic
Place the tray in the freezer. Let the ginger freeze.
Step 5. Remove from freezer
Remove the frozen ginger from the tray and place it in an airtight container or box.
If you are using a bag, blow out as much air as possible in the bag before you close it
Step 6. Put it back in the freezer
Use sparingly. Frozen ginger can last up to 6 months.
Method 3 of 4: Medallion Shaped Ginger Cuts
Step 1. Choose the ginger you want to chop
Choose according to size so you can cut them into medal shapes. Peel the ginger skin.
Step 2. Cut the ginger into medallion shapes
Cut the ginger along the lines to create a "round" shape that looks like a medallion. Continue until all the ginger has been chopped.
Step 3. Place the ginger in a resealable bag
Close as tightly as possible. Press the plastic to get as much air out of the bag as possible. You can also arrange them in a special lunch box suitable for storing food in the freezer.
Step 4. Put it in the freezer
Ginger that you have cut can last up to 3 months.
Method 4 of 4: Ginger Slice
This method may be useful if you need pieces of ginger for sauteing, baking, etc.
