Step
Method 1 of 3: Making Hot Ginger Tea
Step 1. Cut and rub a piece of ginger clean
Take the ginger and peel the outer skin with a vegetable peeler. After that, use a small sharp knife to cut the ginger to a thickness of 2.5 cm. Remember, you will only be brewing one cup of tea so there is no need to use whole ginger.
Fresh ginger can be purchased at various markets and supermarkets
Step 2. Put the water and ginger in a saucepan
Place the pot on the stove and pour 480 ml of water into it. After that, put the ginger pieces in a saucepan and turn on the stove over high heat. Make sure the ginger is completely submerged in the water before you move on to the next step.
To speed up the boiling process, cover the pot
Step 3. Wait until the water boils, then reduce the heat of the stove
Keep it by the side of the pot for a few minutes, at least until the water and ginger mixture starts to boil. After the water boils, open the lid of the pot and reduce the heat to the stove. Remember, now the tea will be brewed! That's why, you should use low heat to brew the tea at a low and steady temperature.
Remember, the ginger taste must be completely absorbed into the water before the tea is drunk. If you don't brew it for a long time, the tea will feel less concentrated or less effective
Step 4. Strain the ginger water into the cup after 10 minutes
Turn off the stove and pour the tea into the cup through a small metal strainer. Hold the cup while the ginger water is poured, and make sure the tea is completely separated from the pulp. To sweeten the taste of the tea, mix 1-2 tbsp. honey into it.
- The dosage in the recipe can be doubled or tripled if you want to brew a large amount of tea at once. Once cooked, the remaining tea can be stored in the refrigerator and warmed using the microwave for 30 seconds before consuming it.
- Ginger tea tastes best when it is consumed on the day it is made.
Do you know?
To speed up the process of making tea, try heating a cup of ginger ale in the microwave for up to 2 minutes. Then, dip a bag of black tea into the ginger ale solution and brew the tea bag for the duration recommended on the package.
Alternatively, you can also make ginger tea by mixing 1½ tsp. grated ginger or ginger that has been mashed into a cup, then pour 360 ml of boiling water over it.
Method 2 of 3: Making Ginger Tea with Turmeric Blend
Step 1. Bring 480 ml of water to a boil in a small saucepan
Pour water into a saucepan, then heat the water on the stove over high heat. Wait a few minutes for the water to boil before adding the various ingredients you want. If you want to speed up the boiling process, cover the pot to trap the hot steam inside.
For reference, water is said to be boiling if it gives off steam and bubbles on its surface
Step 2. Add the same amount of ginger and turmeric
Add tsp. turmeric powder and tsp. ginger into boiling water. To enrich the taste, try adding tsp. cinnamon powder. For a thicker tea texture, double the amount of spices used.
Use fresh ginger if you want a tea with a stronger taste
Step 3. Reduce heat and simmer all ingredients for 10 minutes
Reduce the heat to brew the tea more optimally. Remember, the longer the tea is brewed, the thicker the texture will be. Wait for at least 10 minutes before turning off the stove.
Brew the tea for 15 minutes if you want a stronger taste
Step 4. Strain the tea into a cup and add various other ingredients
Place a metal strainer in the mouth of the cup. Then, pour the tea through a sieve to separate the brewed tea from the pulp. If you want, you can sweeten the taste of the tea by adding 1 tbsp. honey or other sweetener of choice at this stage.
To make the texture of the tea a little creamier, add 1-2 tbsp. milk
Method 3 of 3: Making Ginger Tea with Honey and Lemon
Step 1. Bring water to a boil to make 350 ml of tea
Fill the kettle with water and place the kettle on the stove. Make sure there is enough boiling water to fill the number of cups you want to fill! Then, turn on the stove over high heat, then wait a few minutes for the water to boil. After the kettle whistles, turn off the heat.
If you don't want to use a kettle, you can also boil water in the microwave
Step 2. Put the ginger, lemon, cayenne, and turmeric in a cup
In a pre-prepared cup, put tsp. grated ginger and tsp. turmeric powder. After that, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or ground black pepper to make the tea taste spicier and more spicy.
Step 3. Pour water and brew all ingredients for 5 minutes
Pour enough boiling water into the cup, then stir all the tea ingredients. Remember, the grated ginger will settle to the bottom of the cup instead of dissolving. Keep stirring all the ingredients for 5 seconds so the flavors can blend well.
- If you want to add any medicinal powder, try dissolving it in a cup.
- To sweeten the tea, add 2 tbsp. honey. Make sure the honey is completely dissolved before drinking the tea.
TIP:
Pour the remaining ginger tea into a container to be consumed at a later date. Tea can be stored for a maximum of 1 day and consumed whenever you want or when the body feels unwell.
