Tiramisu is an Italian dessert usually made from ladyfinger pastries, espresso coffee and mascarpone cheese. Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 450 gr mascarpone cheese
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups strong espresso, chilled
- 2 tsp black rum
- 24 lady fingers
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder

Method 1 of 3: Preparing Materials
Step 1. Make the cheese mixture
Place the egg yolks, sugar, cheese and vanilla in a bowl. Use a hand mixer or a stand mixer to beat these ingredients until smooth, thick and light. Add a tablespoon of espresso while continuing to beat until smooth.
Step 2. Mix espresso and rum
Place the remaining espresso and rum in a small bowl. Mix well. You can also add a teaspoon of kalua to the mixture.
Step 3. Soak the ladyfinger
Unwrap the ladyfinger. Add one at a time into the espresso to absorb. Flip so that all sides are exposed to the espresso. Place the soaked ladyfinger in the bottom of a large dish. Continue to soak the ladyfinger and place it on the bottom of the dish until the bottom is completely covered.
- Lay the ladyfinger in one neat layer. You can cut some ladyfingers to fit on the bottom of the dish if needed.
- You can also arrange the ladyfinger in an interesting pattern if you want the dish to have an interesting look.
Method 2 of 3: Making Tiramisu
Step 1. Add a layer of cheese mixture
Spoon half of the cheese mixture over the ladyfinger. Use a spatula to spread the cheese evenly over the ladyfinger layer all the way to the edges of the plate.
Step 2. Sprinkle cocoa powder
Use half the cocoa powder to sprinkle over the cheese layer.
Step 3. Make another layer of ladyfinger
Soak each ladyfinger and place on top of the cheese layer. Continue to soak and place in the dish until you have a solid layer of ladyfinger.
Step 4. Make another layer of cheese
Place the cheese mixture on top of the ladyfinger layer. Use a spatula to spread it evenly throughout the dish.
Method 3 of 3: Finishing Tiramisu
Step 1. Put the tiramisu in the refrigerator
Cover the tiramisu with plastic. Place in the refrigerator to let the flavors blend for two hours or overnight.
Step 2. Decorate
Remove the tiramisu from the refrigerator and remove the plastic cover. Sprinkle the remaining cocoa powder on top of the tiramisu. If you want, you can decorate the tiramisu with chocolate chips or chocolate chips.
Step 3. Serve
Cut the tiramisu into squares and serve on a small plate with hot coffee or a glass of red wine.
