Beer pong is a popular party game. This game is usually played at college parties, but adults can play it anywhere. The game is played by throwing a ping-pong ball into the opposing team's cup of beer. Move one cup each time a ping-pong ball goes into it. The team that runs out of cups first will lose. Before playing beer pong, learn the basics, the rules, and some tips that can help your team win.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Playing Beer Pong
Step 1. Line up 10 cups on a long table
You need 20 plastic cups to play. The classic red party cup is the most common. Place 10 plastic cups on the table with a pyramid formation at each end of the table. The row closest to you contains 4 cups, while the row closest to the center of the table contains only one cup. Tables used for playing beer pong are usually 2 to 2.5 meters long, but you can use any table that is long enough.
The cup used is usually a capacity of 400 to 500 ml. You can buy red party cups at most supermarkets and grocery stores
Step 2. Fill the cup with beer
You'll need to fill the cup with beer or any other liquid you want to use. Water can be used for non-alcoholic games. Usually, 2 bottles of beer with a capacity of 350 ml are enough to fill 10 cups. You can increase or decrease the number of beers as desired. The cup must be filled with beer because every cup the ball enters must be drunk and removed.
- Fill the cup until it is a quarter full.
- Have a cup filled with water on the other side of the table to clean any balls that have fallen on the floor or have gotten dirty.
Step 3. Set up two teams
Beer pong games can be played with two teams of one or two people. One team consists of a maximum of two people. If you play two against two, each team will play with two balls instead of one.
Step 4. Decide which team will take first turn
Determine who throws the first pitch by having a throw-in. One person from team A will look his opponent in the eye on team B and throw the ball into the cup, then the person from team B will do the same. The ball will continue to be thrown until it enters the cup and the opposing team misses. If there is more than one person on a team, alternate tossing the balls until one goes into the cup. The team that wins the shootout will get the first turn to throw the ball.
Don't get rid of the cup the ball is in. Just take out the ball, clean it and start the game as usual
Step 5. Throw the ping-pong balls alternately
Throw a ping-pong ball into the opponent's cup in turn. Drink the contents of the cup and discard the cup the ball has entered. Keep playing this game until all the cups on one team are used up. The winner is the team that finishes the opposing team's cup first.
- This game will automatically be won if there are more than one person in one team who puts the ball into the same cup belonging to the opposing team.
- The winning team has the right to stay in front of the table and continue the game against the other team.
Method 2 of 3: Learning the Beer Pong Rules
Step 1. Position your elbows behind the edge of the table
One of the general rules of this game is to keep your elbows behind the table when throwing the ball. Sometimes, your wrist shouldn't even cross the edge of the table. A throw is not considered valid if your elbow crosses the edge of the table. If the throw is made, the ball must be returned and the throw must be repeated.
This rule can be ignored by short players or players who are not good at throwing if everyone playing agrees
Step 2. Reset the opposing team's cup position twice in one game
A rearrangement or reform of the cup position may be carried out twice in one game. This can be done when there are 6, 4, 3, or 2 cups remaining. You can ask your opponent to change the formation of the cup, for example with a square or triangle formation. In addition, the last cup remaining may be moved so that it is right in the middle even if the position of the previous cup has been changed twice.
- If you're ahead, try to save the right cup setting. For example: instead of using the right to change the position of the cup when the opponent's cup is 6 or 4 remaining, try changing the formation when the cup is 4 and 3 (or even 2). Thus, the position of the cup will be closer at the end of the game.
- You can also ask permission to correct the position of the cup during the game. This is not the same as changing formations. Correcting the position of the cup is the same as tightening its position or moving it to its original position if its position shifts.
Step 3. Bounce the ball
If you bounce the ball on the table and it goes into the cup, you can ask your opponent to get rid of an extra cup. You can choose the removed cup yourself. Remember, the opposing team has the right to hit the bounced ball, and so does your team. Players may not protest if the reflected ball is blocked by the opposing team before it enters the cup.
- It's best to wait until your opponent has one cup left before trying to make a bounce.
- Try bouncing when the opposing team's attention is distracted.
Step 4. Shout “heating up”
A player who successfully enters the ball twice in a row is called "heating up". While the player who managed to enter the ball 3 times in a row is called "on fire". Calls “on fire” should not be used unless “heating up” is specified. After the player reaches the "on fire" status, he may continue to throw the ball until it misses.
Make sure the opposing team knows you shouted the words " heating up " and " on fire"
Step 5. Toss towards separate cups
You get the right once per game to choose one cup that is not in contact with another cup. You can say “island” or “solo”. If the ball goes into the selected cup, the player may request one additional cup to be removed from play. If a player puts the ball into another cup that is not selected, the cup will remain on the table.
A “separate cup” is not a cup that slides from another cup because it is wet. This cup is “separated” because the surrounding cups have been removed
Step 6. Toss into the final cup
The final cup is the cup that has been removed from the table or formation, and is in the hands of the opposing player. This cup can be targeted. If the ball goes into this cup, the game will automatically end. Three cups can be taken if the final cup is still on the table and not in the hands of the opposing player.
- Drink the contents of the cup as quickly as possible so that the opponent does not target him.
- Wait until the opposing team is caught off guard before trying to target the last cup.
Step 7. Submit a support throw
After one team wins, the losing team has a chance to refute it. To do so, each player on the losing team will throw a toss into the remainder of the opposing team's cup until one misses. If there are still cups left, the game is over. If all the cups are successfully entered by the ball, the game continues to extra innings. Additional rounds are carried out by arranging 3 cups to form a pyramid, then throwing the ball until the opposing team's cups run out.
There is no right to change the formation of the cup during extra innings, but the position of the cup may be adjusted
Method 3 of 3: Learning Strategies to Win
Step 1. Prepare the ball
Make sure you wet the ball before throwing it. This will increase accuracy and help the ball move through the air more smoothly. A dry ball will travel shorter, making it more difficult to aim.
Clean the ball in the glass of water before making the throw
Step 2. Stand in the correct position
Body position must be considered before throwing. Move the foot forward so that it is parallel to the position of the hand that is used to throw. The other leg should be positioned back to support the body. Make sure your elbows don't cross the edge of the table and practice your throwing accuracy before throwing the ball.
Step 3. Hone your throwing technique
There are three types of throws: the bow throw to get the ball up and down the cup, the quick throw to get the ball into the cup directly and quickly, and the bounce throw so the ball bounces off the table before it enters the cup.
Quick throws are sometimes not allowed because they are difficult to control
Step 4. Don't let your guard down
Keep an eye on the game table to avoid surprise attacks directed at you. You can take advantage of your opponent's negligence to gain an advantage. One way is to pretend to be careless. When the opposing team throws the ball, you can look away or chat with other people near you.
Step 5. Blow or parry the ball
If the ball is spinning on the rim of the cup and hasn't entered it, you can blow or parry the ball with your finger. In general, women are usually only allowed to blow the ball while men are only allowed to parry it with their fingers. As long as the ball does not hit the beer, the throw is not considered successful.
- For women, when the ball spins around the rim of the cup, you can blow on the cup to get the ball out. Position your face near the cup and blow the ball as hard as you can.
- For men, use your fingers to deflect the ball spinning on the rim of the cup from below. You have to move fast. Place your finger under the ball and quickly pry it up.
Tips
- Throw the ball with 3 fingers instead of using 2 fingers. This method will increase accuracy.
- Aim for one cup, not throwing it at the cup stack. This method will increase your chances of success.
- Be prepared to pick up the ball after your throw so your opponent doesn't pick up the ball and throw it again.
- Do not place your cup of drink on the table because if your opponent puts the ball in it, they will automatically win and you will have to drink the entire cup.
- Be careful and don't hit your cup as dropped cups should never be returned to the table.
Warning
- Never drive after drinking alcohol.
- Don't drink beer if you're not of legal age in your country.
