Want to beautify your gift, bag or skirt? Ribbons can decorate almost any type of item. Most ribbons can be made using any type of ribbon. However, use ribbons that have wire edges for complex ribbon ties to make them last longer. Beautiful ribbon shapes can be made with plastic, fabric, satin, or silk ribbons.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Creating a Classic Ribbon
Step 1. Cut the ribbon
Use scissors to cut the ribbon to the desired length.
For beginners, leave the band a little longer because it is easier to wear for practice
Step 2. Form two loops inside the ribbon
Hold each end of the ribbon, one in each hand. Keep the ribbon from twisting, and fold the ribbon from back to front.
You should now be holding the ribbon with two loops pointing up and one larger loop pointing down the middle
Step 3. Cross the loop
Cross the top right loop over the top left coil.
If this ribbon is being used for gift wrapping, cross the top left over the right and do a half-knot. This way the tape won't slide on the box
Step 4. Finish the loop
Fold the roll on the right back and under the left loop. Pull through the hole.
The tape should not twist or gather when the loop is tied
Step 5. Pull the knot
Grasp each end of the tape and pull to secure it. Thus, a beautiful ribbon will be obtained.
Make sure the sizes of the two coils are the same. Pull the ribbon to match it. Alternatively, you can trim the ends of the ribbon in a chevron pattern
Method 2 of 3: Making a Florist Ribbon
Step 1. Gather the ingredients
You will need floral wire to tie the ribbons in the center. Try to bend the tape in half so that it forms a U. You'll also need wire-edge tape.
Take one skein so you can make the ribbon as big as you like
Step 2. Measure your tape
Pull about 46 cm of tape out of the bobbin. Hold the tape with the fingers of the left hand.
Step 3. Pull more ribbon
Pull about 30 cm of ribbon out of the spool with your right hand. Your left hand should still hold the ribbon that was first pulled.
Step 4. Gather the ribbons
Join the right and left hands to make a loop on the ribbon.
Step 5. Hold the coil
Transfer the coil to your left hand and hold it between the fingers of your left hand.
Step 6. Pull more ribbon
Pull about 30 cm of ribbon with your right hand. The left hand should still hold the coil that was just made.
Step 7. Add additional ribbon to the loop
Fold this extra ribbon over the loop and hold both of them with your left hand.
Now the coil can be seen from both sides of your hand. This coil resembles the number 8 or the infinity symbol
Step 8. Create additional coils
Pull about 30 cm of ribbon out of the spool with your right hand. Fold over the existing coil.
Step 9. Continue to make the coils
Continue pulling the ribbon and folding it into a loop and turning it over, so that the ribbon is even.
Make at least four loops on each side of the hand
Step 10. Create the center of your coil
Measure about 15 cm of tape and trim the ends. Make a loop around the top of the finger holding the center of the ribbon. Hold the tape under your fingers for safety.
Step 11. Tighten the knot
Use floral wire to tie the middle coil. Wrap the wire a few times, then bring it together and twist the ends together until they are strong.
Step 12. Trim the ribbon
Gently pull on the loop to smooth out the ribbon. If you use a wire edged tape, you will maintain the fluffy ribbon shape. Cut the ends. Make a chevron or diagonal pattern on both tails.
Method 3 of 3: Creating the Winged Ribbon
Step 1. Cut the ribbon
Use scissors to cut the ribbon to the desired length.
Be careful when using scissors
Step 2. Cross the two tails
Fold the tail left and right. Try not to twist or collect the ribbon.
Step 3. Tie the two tails together
Fold the left tail completely behind and under the right tail.
Step 4. Pull the knot
Insert the left tail through the hole and pull both tails. The resulting knot should be smooth and balanced.
Step 5. Trim the tail
At this point, your ribbon looks like two tails that have a knot in the middle. Cut the tail near the knot. Cut a chevron pattern on each end of the tail. The tip of the chevron should point to the vertex.
