Sore throat is a very annoying disease, right? The following are some ways to help your sore throat heal faster. Note that this won't cure your sore throat in an hour, but it will help relieve it.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Relieve Sore Throat Quickly
Step 1. Drink a spoon or two of honey
Honey is a natural antiseptic and has been known to reduce coughs. Take a tablespoon or two of honey and swallow it slowly, leaving it in the back of your mouth as long as possible.
- You can also add honey to hot water to make a throat-soothing drink, although in the long run it won't usually be very effective.
- Children under 1 year of age should NOT be given honey. Honey contains bacteria that children's bodies cannot process.
Step 2. Gargle with warm salt water
Add one or two tablespoons of table salt to a cup of warm water. Gargle with this solution until your pain subsides. The salt water will cleanse and reduce sore throat, thereby reducing your pain.
You can also gargle with an apple cider vinegar solution. The way it works is similar to salt water. Put one or two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and gargle. You can also add honey to improve the taste, although it won't taste as good and it's just not made that way
Step 3. Inhale the steam
You can take a hot shower, use a humidifier, or stand near a boiling water kettle. Inhaling the steam will relieve a sore throat because dry air can be very painful.
Step 4. Eat hot food
Try eating foods such as broth, warm applesauce or soft fruit (although you should avoid foods that are high in sugar). These foods can reduce pain.
Try washing, separating and freezing blueberries, canned oranges or similar fruit. Suck on these frozen fruits to reduce pain
Step 5. Hot tea
Drink hot tea like honey tea.
Step 6. Cough gum
Suck on cough drops to reduce pain.
Method 2 of 2: Restoring Your Body
Step 1. Rest in bed
The most important thing when you have a sore throat is to rest in bed. Don't get up and move around a lot, because if you are sick moving will only make you sicker and pass your illness on to others. Rest and sleep are very important. You can read a book or watch TV to get rid of boredom and take your mind off the pain.
Step 2. Drink fruit juice
Fruit juices such as apple juice are known to relieve sore throats. The recommended fruit juices are apple juice and orange juice. Note that "hot" apple cider vinegar won't do much.
Step 3. Try to avoid juices that contain a lot of sugar
The sugar creates an environment in which bacteria can multiply. Drink juice from freshly squeezed fruit. Lemon juice and other juices high in vitamin C are good choices.
Step 4. Avoid cold food and drinks
These foods and drinks will narrow your airways.
Step 5. Avoid dairy and ice cream products
This product will cause phlegm so that your cough will get worse.
Step 6. Make the soup
The broth will soothe your throat. Chicken soup and ramen are delicious soups and will really help your throat.
Step 7. Take the medicine
This will help your throat heal faster. Children can take Motrin or Benadryl. This medicine will make you sleepy, but you do need to rest, right?
Step 8. Sleep
Take a break to deal with your throat problems and take a nap! Your body needs it.
Step 9. Cover your body
Covering your body is important because you have a fever, sore throat, flu, so don't let your body get cold as it will make your illness worse.
Step 10. Entertain yourself
Since you are resting at home, you may feel bored. But even if you're in bed with a blanket, you can easily use your computer (read wikihow!) or anything else from your bed. Things you can do in bed are reading, writing, playing portable games, and so on.
Step 11. Whatever you do, don't make your throat work hard until it's completely healed
Do not eat solid food, as it will make your throat feel very sore. Eat broth and drink hot tea to get well soon.
