Step
Method 1 of 4: Classic Stuffed Omelette
Step 1. Prepare the ingredients
Eggs cook quickly, so it's best to select and chop all the ingredients before cooking. First, prepare all the eggs to be cooked. Most omelets require 2-4 eggs. Next, cut the omelette filling into small pieces and grate the cheese.
-
Some of the commonly used omelette additives include chopped onions, ham, bell peppers, scallions, spinach, sausage, olives, tomatoes and mushrooms. Use some or all of the ingredients to your liking.
-
You can use cheddar cheese, swiss cheese, goat cheese, feta cheese, or any other type of cheese you like.
Step 2. Crack the egg
Crack all the eggs and put them in a bowl. After that, be sure to wash your hands to prevent contamination of salmonella bacteria.
Step 3. Beat the eggs so that the whites and yolks are thoroughly mixed
You can use a fork or a wire egg beater to beat the eggs. At this point, you can add salt, pepper, and other spices to the egg mixture.
Step 4. Cook the eggs
Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Pour in the beaten egg, spread and smooth with a spatula. Adding a little milk or water will make the eggs a little soft.
Step 5. Add content
When the eggs are firm on the bottom but still a little wet on the top, sprinkle with all the filling except the cheese. Continue cooking until there are bubbles on the top of the omelette.
Step 6. Turn the omelette over
Use a spatula to gently flip the omelette to the other side. Let it cook for a minute or two until the omelette is no longer runny.
Step 7. Add cheese and fold the omelette
Sprinkle cheese in the center of the omelette, then fold the omelette to cover the cheese. Transfer the omelette to a plate.
Step 8. Sprinkle more cheese over the omelette
Method 2 of 4: French Spice Omelette
Step 1. Heat some butter in a small skillet
Place the skillet on the stove and use a medium-high heat. Let the butter melt and make sure the pan is very hot.
-
Do not use a nonstick skillet to make omelets using this method. The heat of the fire can cause the nonstick coating to peel off.
-
This method works fine if you're using two eggs, but you can use three if you're hungry enough.
Step 2. Beat and season the eggs
While waiting for the butter to melt, place 2 or 3 eggs in a bowl and beat with an egg beater until the whites and yolks are combined. If you use more eggs, the omelette will be too thick; the beaten eggs that are poured into the pan should be spread thinly. Sprinkle the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper and sprinkle with the chives, oregano, dill, and other spices for added flavor. Only teaspoon is enough for each seasoning.
Step 3. Pour the beaten eggs into the pan
First, make sure the pan is very hot. Butter should sound sizzling. The eggs will start to bubble and cook as they pour into the skillet. Stay away from the stove, as the eggs cook very quickly when you use this technique. Cook the first side for 30 seconds.
Step 4. Flip the omelette
Hold the pan and move your hands in a circular motion to flip the omelette to the other side. Be careful not to let the omelette come out of the pan. Use controlled movements to keep the omelette in the center of the pan.
- This technique requires practice. The pan should be lightly buttered so that the omelette moves easily on the surface and is easy to flip.
- Use a spatula to flip the omelette if you don't want to try turning it around by moving the pan.
Step 5. Transfer the omelette to a plate
Once the reverse side is cooked within 20 seconds, transfer the omelette to a plate and use the edge of the pan to fold it over. This quick cooking technique makes for a simple, delicious, and perfectly cooked omelet.
Method 3 of 4: Steamed Omelette
Step 1. Mix all ingredients
Beat the eggs and mix in the carrots, onions, sesame oil, and salt and pepper for taste. Beat everything until smooth.
Step 2. Pour the eggs into the steaming pan
If you have a bamboo steamer, use it to steam the omelette. If you don't have a steamer, use two pots, a large one and a smaller one that you can fit in. Fill a large pot with water a few inches high and place the smaller pot on top. Place both pots on the stove and use a medium-high heat. Pour the eggs into the small saucepan and cover the large pot.
Step 3. Cook the eggs until cooked
Cook the eggs for 10 minutes or until the tops are firm. If you shake the steamer, the eggs will move slightly, but are no longer visibly wet.
Step 4. Remove the omelette from the stove and cut into pieces
Serve immediately.
Method 4 of 4: Baked Omelette
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 176°C
Make sure the oven is really hot before you bake the omelette.
Step 2. Mix all ingredients
Beat eggs in a bowl, then add milk, cheese, ham, parsley, salt and pepper.
Step 3. Pour the beaten eggs into a greased dish
Baked omelets tend to be sticky, so use butter, cooking oil, or cooking spray to grease the dishes you're using. Pour the beaten eggs into the dish.
Step 4. Bake the omelette
Place the dish in the oven and bake the omelette until the top is set, about 45 minutes. When you shake the dish, the eggs will move a little, but are no longer soggy or runny.
Step 5. Remove the omelette from the oven and serve
Cut the baked omelette into triangular sizes to serve. Baked omelette is delicious eaten with toast or crackers.
Tips
- All additives should be pre-cooked, especially for meat.
- To make omelets that are not too soft, don't use milk. Use a skillet with a wide surface. This method will produce an omelette that cooks quickly for those of you who like it.
- Don't be afraid to be creative. Many people like omelets with unique variations (like avocado and shrimp or bacon and pineapple). Like pizza, omelets provide an infinite canvas for the cooking artist.
- Instead of milk, you can also use a little sour cream (about a tablespoon).
- You can use ungrated cheese.
- For a very soft omelette, beat the whites and yolks separately and mix the two right before cooking.
- Plan ahead. For a super-fast omelette, prepare all the ingredients pre-cut. Chopping vegetables and meat or grating cheese takes longer than cooking an omelette.
