Are you not matching your match on Tinder? Do you receive a lot of inappropriate messages? For any similar situation on this popular mobile dating app, you can quickly and easily block other people from contacting you. Blocking someone only takes a few seconds and takes effect permanent. Once you unmatch someone, you'll never see them again.
Step
Step 1. Open the Tinder app
Browse the list of apps on your device and select the Tinder icon.
You'll be automatically directed to the main screen where you can scroll through a number of potential matches, unless you're new to the app. If you're not directed to the sliding screen, tap the fire-shaped icon at the top left to go there
Step 2. Open your message with the person you want to block
From the main screen, open the message inbox by tapping the message icon at the top of the screen that looks like a dialog bubble. Then browse and find the person to block. Tap to open the message thread.
Step 3. Tap the more button on the top right corner, then tap Unmatch
The more button looks like three vertical dots with a shape like a traffic light. Once tapped, a small menu with Unmatch and Report options will appear.
After selecting unmatch, you will be asked to confirm your decision. Tap unmatch again
Step 4. Do this if you no longer want to be associated with this person
Unmatch function applies permanent. Once you choose to unmatch, that person will no longer be able to contact you via Tinder. You also cannot undo this action. Surely:
- You will no longer see this person on the sliding screen.
- This person will no longer be able to message you.
- You will not be able to message this person.
- Neither of you will be able to read messages that relate to you - your message threads will disappear from your inbox.
Step 5. For more serious issues, use the Report option
While you can use Unmatch when you're no longer interested in someone, the Report option from the more menu is more appropriate when someone is really scaring, annoyed, or worried you. If you receive a Tinder message that is distressing, disturbing, or harassing, use this option to send a report to Tinder staff. Tinder will ban rogue users from using this service. You should still select the unmatch option after reporting the user to block them. Some of the options available for reporting someone on Tinder are:
- The person you chat with offends or harasses you
- The person you're chatting with is trying to spam or commit fraud (convincing you to visit certain sites, buy things, etc.)
- People chatting with you make you uncomfortable
- Others (you can write a short description here)
Tips
- If your message thread with someone suddenly disappears, or you receive a match notification but can't find the new match, this is a sign that You have been blocked. Keep using Tinder!
