Being a bank cashier is a fun job. As a bank cashier, you will meet many people and learn new skills. By becoming a bank cashier, you could start a career in finance or get a higher position in the bank one day. This job may not be for everyone, but if you are determined to work as a bank cashier, there are a few things you need to do.

Part 1 of 4: Preparing to Find a Job
Step 1. Make sure first that you really want to be a bank cashier
Are you interested in this job because of the pay? Often, bank cashiers are required to do a lot of work with great responsibility, but not receive a proper salary. If you enjoy meeting people and getting to know new people, this job might be for you. If you want a career in banking, start from here. Or maybe you just love managing money! Everything can be a good reason, but you have to have a good reason yourself. During the interview, you will be asked why you want to become a bank cashier.
Step 2. Determine the bank you want
You can work at a small bank in your city, a regional bank, or a national bank. Regional banks have many branches, but only in a few cities. Be aware that regional banks and national-scale banks generally adopt a more formal work culture, while small banks have a more intimate working atmosphere.
Step 3. Make sure that you are eligible to become a bank cashier
Before submitting a job application, the bank will determine the criteria that you must meet. You must have good grades, have never been involved in a criminal case, attach a work reference letter, diploma, and information about your current/previous workplace so that the bank can request information about you. In addition, the bank will consider how long you have worked before. You must have basic skills to operate a computer, for example being able to work with the Windows operating system. Part 2 of 4: Having an Interview
Step 1. Submit a job application via the internet if there is a form that you can fill out or send your biodata to the bank
If you submit your biodata, usually the bank will ask you to fill out a form to get information about you, such as your residential address in the last few years, education, work experience, skills, awards, references, personal identification, and driver's license number. You may also be asked “Why do you want to work at this bank?”
Be specific when asked why you want to work for a particular bank. Explain that you enjoy meeting the people who live in the city and that you want their visit to the bank to be a pleasant activity
Step 2. Work on personal relationships
Start building a network. Many people find work because they know someone who can help. If not, maybe your friend knows someone who works at a bank. Upload the information on Facebook or other social media. If you really want to be a bank cashier, maybe someone will help you.
Step 3. Come to the bank and ask for an application form to apply
Sometimes, you will be interviewed immediately if you apply for a job in person, especially if you have a good relationship with the person who provided the application form. Make sure you look professional if you want to apply in person.
Step 4. Ask for job vacancies over the phone
Call some banks over the phone and ask to speak to someone in personnel. Say that you want to send a job application letter or bring it in person. Briefly explain why you would love to work there and then send an email following up on this conversation.
Step 5. Wait for the interview call, but be prepared for this process to be slow
The personnel department usually works with a deadline of several days. They will screen applicants carefully, unless they urgently need a new cashier. Be patient and submit as many applications as possible while waiting for the call.
Part 3 of 4: Having a Good Interview
Step 1. Try to impress
As cliché as it may sound, you should wear clothes that are attractive. You don't need to wear a bow tie, just a neat shirt and tie. Bank cashiers must be neatly dressed, so you should dress as if you had to go straight to work today. You can have a successful interview this way.
Step 2. Make eye contact and shake hands firmly
Don't squeeze the interviewer's hand too hard and stare at him for too long. Look him in the eye in a friendly manner and shake his hand firmly and professionally. Show your personality by being professional.
Step 3. Prepare answers if you are asked to describe your customer service experience
You may be asked to explain how to handle customers. The bank always prioritizes customer satisfaction, even though it is the customer himself who is at fault. So, answer the question by putting the customer on the side of the person who is always right. You will also be asked how to deal with cash gaps and manage money. Be prepared to answer questions about sales. For example, if during an interview you are asked if you have ever done something good for the customer but bad for the company, respond by saying that you don't think so because what is good for the customer is always good for the company

Honesty, reliability, good judgment, and the ability to multitask are traits your manager needs. Before coming to the interview, think about how to tell your experience that can highlight the character.
Part 4 of 4: Following up on Job Applications
Step 1. Say thank you after the interview
This sets you apart from other candidates and shows the interviewer that you value his or her time. After the interview, thank the interviewer and shake hands. A thank you letter keeps you in mind if there are many other applicants.
Step 2. Wait for an answer from the bank
Congratulations on being accepted for the job! If not, go the extra mile and remember that every bank is different and may not be right for everyone. There are many cashier vacancies at other banks. Expand the experience of serving customers and try to find bank cashier vacancies elsewhere.
Step 3. Call again by phone if you don't get an answer after a few weeks
However, if the bank can only decide one more month, wait for one month. Don't be pushy, say that you just want to ask when you can get a decision.
Tips
- The bank offers excellent benefits, such as medical benefits, dental care, glasses, paid leave not taken, leave after one year of work, and leave for personal use. - Working in a bank is not as luxurious as it seems. Lots of work to do, a hugely disappointing customer, or you'll be forced to meet and exceed sales targets every day.
- If you don't like selling, this job isn't for you. You also have to sell bank products in addition to doing other jobs. Bank cashiers usually have to work harder than other bank employees because they have to perform several tasks in parallel.
