Various breakfast cereals are made from grains, such as corn, rice, and wheat, which are processed into popcorn. You can make popcorn by frying it in hot oil, or using a popcorn popper that spreads hot air over the kernels. The same principle can also be applied when making popcorn. However, unlike popcorn, rice does not have a hard skin. This skin functions to hold moisture so that the popcorn does not explode. Therefore, you cannot put rice in a popcorn popper to make popcorn. Most ready-to-buy popcorn is made with a high-pressure machine which is difficult (and not recommended for) to use at home. Fortunately, there are several other ways you can try to make popcorn. To do this, you only need a few simple kitchen utensils.

Method 2 of 2: Making Popsicle Rice with a Fryer

Step 3. Pour the rice grains little by little into the frying pan
Be careful when adding rice. The rice you put in will start to rise.
Step 4. Remove and cool the rice popcorn
Step 5. Separate the husk from the rice with a sieve
Warning
- Be careful when using a frying pan. Hot oil may come out of the frying pan as the rice rises. If it gets on the skin, the hot oil can cause burns. Make sure you place the frying pan on a safe flat table, away from other ingredients. Avoid wearing loose-fitting clothing near the frying pan to ensure that clothing does not hit the frying pan. This way, the hot oil won't touch your clothes or skin.
- Apart from the methods mentioned in this article, there are many other ways to make rice popcorn. However, these methods involve high pressure or evaporation techniques, which are very dangerous if used carelessly. The device you are using may explode, your skin may be burned, or you may experience both. Therefore, it is recommended that you avoid these methods, and use the methods described in this article.
