Cutting oranges is easy, but first you have to choose how you want to cut them. Sliced oranges make a great snack; oranges, sliced crosswise, great for garnishing drinks; while oranges that have been peeled are suitable for use in salads. By using a sharp knife and choosing the right cutting method, you can quickly learn how to cut oranges properly.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Slicing Oranges
Step 1. Hold the oranges firmly on the cutting board
Make sure you have a firm grip on your fingers so the oranges don't slip when you cut them.
Step 2. Cut the orange in half using a sharp knife
The cut starts from the base of the stalk (the top of the fruit that was originally attached to the tree) and ends at the end (the bottom of the fruit).
Step 3. Turn both halves of the orange on the cutting board with the skin facing up
The inside of the orange should face down.
Step 4. Use a knife to cut each piece into three equal slices
Tilt the knife toward the center of the orange as you slice it into thirds.
If you want the result to be more, just make smaller slices
Method 2 of 3: Splitting Oranges Crosswise
Step 1. Place the oranges on a cutting board at an angle so that the top and bottom of the fruit are on the sides
Grip the orange firmly in place with your fingers.
Step 2. Cut the top and bottom of the orange with a sharp knife
Remove the top and bottom of the fruit just enough so that the contents of the orange are visible from both sides.
Step 3. Slice the first circle from one end of the orange
Position the blade of the knife against the orange about 0.5 cm from the tip, then cut perpendicularly until the knife touches the cutting board. Let the orange halves fall onto the cutting board.
Step 4. Slice continuously until it runs out
Slice each circle the same thickness.
Don't press the knife too hard when slicing the orange crosswise as this will damage the round shape
Method 3 of 3: Peeling Aris Oranges
Step 1. Use a small, sharp paring knife to cut off the tip of the orange
The inside of the orange should be visible from both ends.
Step 2. Place the oranges on the cutting board vertically with one of the open parts at the bottom
The other exposed part should be on top, facing you.
Step 3. Use a small knife to peel the orange
Start by sticking the blade into the open part of the orange until the knife touches the cutting board, then slice along the curve of the orange while peeling off the outer skin. Continue this process until all of the outer peel of the orange is peeled off.
Step 4. Hold the peeled orange over the bowl with one hand
Hold the paring knife with the other hand.
Step 5. Use a knife to cut the flesh of the fruit and remove it from the skin
This epidermis is a white line that covers each part of the flesh from top to bottom. Remove any flesh that is in the middle of the epidermis.
Step 6. Remove the orange zest and collect the pulp in a bowl
If there are seeds in the flesh, remove them with a knife.
