Connecting eyebrows can make you irritated and embarrassed because they look like cavemen. Facial hair can be removed in a number of ways, but keep in mind that most methods require you to endure pain (even for a short time) to complete the process.
Step
Method 1 of 5: Removing Connected Eyebrows
Step 1. Dip one corner of the washcloth in hot water
Only use the corners of the washcloth to wet your eyebrows so that the water doesn't get all over your face.
Another way is to pluck the eyebrows right after bathing. Your pores will open when exposed to warm water and steam coming out of the shower
Step 2. Apply the corner of the wet washcloth to the skin you want to remove hair from
Leave it there until the washcloth cools. Repeat this step 2-3 times. The pores will open after exposure to hot water, which makes it easier for you to pluck your eyebrows. This will also reduce pain.
Step 3. Stand facing the mirror
You can use a magnifying mirror, if you have one. A magnifying mirror makes it easy for you to see each strand of hair you want to pull out, but it's not a must. A regular mirror will suffice as long as you can get close.
Step 4. Start plucking the center of the eyebrows
Pull it outwards towards the brow you want to maintain. If there are eyebrow hairs that are difficult to remove, use your other hand to pull the skin and make it tight. Be careful not to pluck your eyebrows too much. Periodically, step away from the mirror and look at the results of the plucking and decide how far you want to pluck the eyebrow hair.
- To find the ideal place to start your eyebrows, place the tweezers vertically so that they touch the widest part of your nose (nostrils) at one end and align the other end towards your eyebrows. The tip of the tweezers that touches the eyebrows is where the eyebrows start.
- To find the point of the eyebrow arch, place the tweezers horizontally on the bridge of the nose, then tilt the tweezers at an angle of 45 degrees. Where the tip of the tweezers is located is the arch position of the eyebrow.
- To locate the tip of the eyebrow, place the tweezers at a 45-degree angle from where the upper and lower eye lines meet on the inside of the eye.
Step 5. Thin the eyebrows if you want
Do this from the bottom and work your way up to the top of the eyebrow. Again, step away from the mirror periodically to check that you are not plucking your eyebrows excessively.
You can shape the eyebrows to be arched. For more information on how to pluck your eyebrows, see How to pluck your eyebrows
Step 6. Apply antibacterial soap and soothing lotion after the eyebrow extraction is complete
Aloe vera is an excellent option. By applying antibacterial soap, the recently empty skin pores will not be attacked by bacteria (which can cause acne).
If the eyebrow area is red or swollen after you pluck it, apply an ice cube to the area. This can reduce swelling and redness. Alternatively, apply a washcloth that has been dipped in cold water or gently apply a small amount of hydrocortisone cream
Method 2 of 5: Waxing
Step 1. Purchase a waxing kit that you can use yourself at home
The waxing kit contains everything you need to remove waxed brows. This kit uses warm or cold wax to pluck out eyebrow hairs and roots. Eyebrows removed with wax will take longer to grow than eyebrows removed with tweezers.
- You can also use wax-coated strips. If you are new to waxing, this is the best option. Apply the wax-coated strip to the area where you want to remove the hair. Pat the strip, then press and hold the surrounding skin with your fingers, and quickly pull the strip off the skin.
- Although very effective, waxing is known to cause intense pain. If you have sensitive skin, try applying a numbing cream to the area you want to treat before you begin the process.
Step 2. Warm the candle
Follow the directions on the candle packaging so you can get it right. In general, the wax is heated in the microwave in about 30-60 seconds. Stir thoroughly to allow the wax to completely melt.
Step 3. Apply the wax on the area you want to de-hair
Instead of doing it yourself, you can make the process easier by asking someone to do this. However, you can still do it yourself by facing the mirror, with your hands not shaking. If the result is a mess and you're smearing wax where you don't want to remove it, rinse the wax off and try again.
Take a small pencil or brush and place it vertically on the widest part of the nose. The point where the brush and the brow meet is the starting point for retracting the brow from the center. Repeat on the other side of the eyebrow to determine how much hair you need to remove
Step 4. Cover the wax with the strip provided in the waxing kit
Press the strip firmly. Make sure the affixed strip does not hit the part of the eyebrow that you want to preserve.
Step 5. Let the wax harden
Always follow the instructions on the product packaging for how long you should let the strip stay before removing it. Depending on the wax used, this may take about 1 minute. The wax should feel cool to the touch from the sticking strip.
Again, the easiest way to do this is to ask someone else to help remove it
Step 6. Remove the strip
Press and hold the skin around the strip with one hand. Pull the strip in a fast, flowing motion as you would when you remove a bandage.
Once the strip is removed, examine your face in the mirror. There may be a few strands of hair that are still left behind. You can pull them out with tweezers one by one
Step 7. Apply ice cubes or cold water if the skin is swollen or red
Apply an antibacterial lotion to prevent breakouts or ingrown hairs.
To reduce pain and irritation, apply a small amount of hydrocortisone cream
Method 3 of 5: Using Hair Removal Cream
Step 1. Buy a hair removal cream
You can get it at the pharmacy. Hair removal cream is safe to use on the face. This product is also suitable for people who do not like to feel pain when the eyebrow hair is removed with tweezers or waxing. Understand that these creams only remove hair that is on the surface, while tweezers and waxing pull out hair at the roots. This means that eyebrows will grow faster when you use this product.
Step 2. Test the skin to see if this cream causes irritation
Apply a small pinch of cream on the back of your hand or elsewhere. Allow the cream to set for the time recommended on the product packaging (this usually takes about 2 minutes). Wash off the cream. If the skin becomes very red or irritated, do not use this cream on the face. If the skin is only slightly reddened or there is no reaction whatsoever, you can use this cream and continue the process.
Step 3. Apply the cream on the eyebrows
You have to do this in front of a mirror to make sure the cream doesn't spread all over the place. Don't let any cream stick to your eyebrows that you don't want to remove.
To determine where to start, place an eyebrow pencil or small brush vertically over the widest nostrils on either side of your nose. The space in the middle of these two vertical lines is the part of the eyebrow that must be removed
Step 4. Leave the cream on the face for the recommended time
The product packaging box will tell you how long you need to let the cream sit (usually about 2 minutes). Do not let the cream continue to stick beyond the recommended time because it can irritate the skin.
Step 5. Wipe off the cream using a washcloth
The eyebrows will fall out with the cream that has chemically removed them. Next, dry your face.
Method 4 of 5: Shave the Connecting Eyebrows
Step 1. Remember that shaving your eyebrows only gives short term results
Shaved eyebrows will grow faster than eyebrows removed with tweezers, wax, or cream.
Step 2. Purchase a razor specifically designed for eyebrows
You can buy it at a pharmacy or beauty supply store.
Step 3. Apply a pinch of shaving cream on the eyebrows
Do not apply shaving cream on the brow area that you want to preserve.
- You can also use an eyebrow pencil to mark the part of the eyebrow that you want to shave. This will allow you to apply shaving cream only to the area of the eyebrow that you want to remove.
- Place the eyebrow pencil on both sides of the bottom of the nose vertically. The point where the eyebrow and pencil meet is the starting point for the eyebrow. The eyebrows that are between the right and left points should be removed.
Step 4. Wet the razor with running water
Shave the eyebrows that you want to remove carefully. Run the razor from the brow line to the very top of the bridge of the nose.
Step 5. Use a wet washcloth to wipe off the shaving cream and shaved hair
Be careful not to get the shaving cream in your eyes. If there are still some missing brows, apply the cream one more time and shave again.
You can also use tweezers to pull out hair that grows irregularly
Method 5 of 5: Using Homemade Sugar Candles
Step 1. Mix brown sugar, honey and water
Take a small, microwave-safe bowl, then add 2 tsp. (10 ml) brown sugar, 1 tsp. (5 ml) honey, and 1 tsp. (5 ml) of water into it.
The honey and brown sugar will act as a "wax" that you can use to wax your eyebrows. This material is still as painful as when you use a regular waxing kit. but it's very useful if you don't have a waxing kit or don't want to buy one
Step 2. Heat the mixture in the microwave for about 30 seconds
Heat all ingredients in the microwave for about 30 seconds, stirring every 10 seconds with a spoon. The mixture will bubble and turn brown.
- However, do not overheat the mixture in the microwave. If it is too hot, the mixture will harden and become unusable.
- However, the mixture will also be too runny if used before it turns brown and bubbling. It won't work properly either.
Step 3. Allow the wax to cool slightly
The temperature of the candle should be slightly warmer than room temperature. At this point, the wax will also thicken, but be soft.
Step 4. Apply wax on the eyebrows
Use your fingers or a thin spatula to apply this homemade wax to the brow area you want to remove.
Place a small brush on both sides of the nostril vertically and set a point that is parallel to the nostril. This point is used as the starting point for the eyebrow position in the center of the face
Step 5. Glue a piece of cloth
Press and hold a clean piece of cloth against the sticky wax until it covers the entire wax.
You can use flannel, cotton, and other similar materials. Make sure you use a clean cloth
Step 6. Pull the fabric
Allow the wax to harden and stick to the fabric for about 30-60 seconds, before you pull the fabric in one quick, flowing motion. This will remove the wax along with the waxed brow.
If any hair is missed, it is better to pluck it out with tweezers rather than repeat the waxing process to reduce the risk of irritation
Step 7. Apply hydrocortisone cream
You can relieve irritation by applying a small amount of hydrocortisone cream to the waxed area of your skin. You can also cool the area by applying an ice cube and applying an antibacterial cream to reduce the risk of developing pimples or ingrown hairs.
Tips
- If you're still unsure about using any of the methods in this article, go to a beauty salon and have them have your eyebrows done professionally.
- There are laser treatments that can permanently remove hair. However, this treatment is very expensive and must be done by a professional.
- Another method for permanent hair removal is electrolysis. However, this should be done by a professional.
- Be careful not to stick the waxed cloth too close to the eyebrows.
Warning
- Some hair removal creams can cause irritation. Be sure to test it on the back of your hand or another part of your skin before using it on your face.
- When heating the wax, test the wax on the inside of your wrist before applying it to your face. You can remove wax with baby oil. It is possible that the wax may overheat. If this happens, wait for the wax to cool before you apply it to your face.
