This wikiHow teaches you how to unbid an item on eBay, both as a buyer and as a seller. If you have less than 12 hours left on the auction, you will need to contact the seller and ask him to cancel the bid. You cannot cancel via the mobile eBay app.

Method 1 of 3: Canceling the Offer (As a Buyer)
Step 1. Go to the eBay site
Visit https://www.ebay.com/. If you are already logged in to your account, you will be taken to the main eBay page.
If not, click the link " Sign in ” in the top-left corner of the page, enter your email address (or username) and account password, and click “ Sign in ”.
Step 2. Click Help & Contact
It's in the top-left corner of the page.
Step 3. Click How to retract a bid
This link is in the middle of the page.
Step 4. Click Retract bid
It's a blue button in the middle of the page. Once clicked, you will be taken to a page containing the item you last bid on.
Step 5. Select the item you just bid on
Click the item name to select it.
Step 6. Select the reason for canceling the bid
Click the circle button on the left side for the following reasons:

” I entered the wrong amount.
” – Select this option if you bid too high or too low.

” The description of the item changed significantly after I placed my bid.
” – Select this option if the displayed conditions, description or terms of sale of the item change and affect the item's value.

” I'm unable to contact the seller by email or phone.
” – If you have tried to contact the seller, but did not get a response, select this option.
Step 7. Click Continue
This blue button is below the reason for canceling the offer section.
Step 8. Click Retract bid
It's a blue button at the bottom of the page. After that, your offer will be cancelled.
Method 2 of 3: Canceling the Offer (As Seller)
Step 1. Go to the eBay site
Visit https://www.ebay.com/. If you are already logged in to your account, you will be taken to the main eBay page.
If not, click the link " Sign in ” in the top-left corner of the page, enter your email address (or username) and account password, and click “ Sign in ”.
Step 2. Select My eBay
It's in the top-right corner of the page. After that, a drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click Selling
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Select the item
Click the name of the item that has been bid. You may need to swipe the screen to see the item.
Step 5. Swipe the screen and look for the item number
This number is to the right of the " eBay item number " heading in the top right corner of the " Description " tab. You need information to direct eBay to the appropriate item.
Step 6. Enter the bidder's username
Click the link " [offer] " above the button " Place bid ”, then find the username with the offer you want to cancel. You need this information to cancel the offer.
Step 7. Click the eBay logo
It's in the top-left corner of the page. After that, you will be taken back to the main page.
Step 8. Scroll down and select Site map
It's at the bottom of the "Tools & apps" options column, at the bottom of the eBay main page.
Step 9. Scroll down and click Cancel bids on your listing
This option is in the " Sell activities " option group under the " SELL " heading.
Step 10. Complete the offer cancellation form
Fill in the following fields:
- ” Item number ” – Type the number of your item in the field above this heading.
- ” User ID of the bid you are canceling ” – Type the bidder's username in the field above this heading.
- ” Reason for cancellation ” – Enter the reason for cancellation in the field below this heading (80 characters or less).
Step 11. Click cancel bid
After that, all offers submitted by the user concerned will be immediately canceled.
Method 3 of 3: Contacting the Seller
Step 1. Go to the eBay site
Visit https://www.ebay.com/. If you are already logged in to your account, you will be taken to the main eBay page.
If not, click the link " Sign in ” in the top-left corner of the page, enter your email address (or username) and account password, and click “ Sign in ”.
Step 2. Select My eBay
It's in the top-right corner of the page.
Step 3. Click Bids/Offers
It's at the top of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Select the item
Click the item you just bid on. You may need to scroll through the screen to find the appropriate item.
Step 5. Click the seller's username
This name is below the " Seller information " heading, on the right side of the page. Once clicked, you will be taken to the seller's profile page.
Step 6. Click Contact
It's in the top-right corner of the seller's page. After that, the contact page will be displayed.
Step 7. Scroll the screen and click No, I want to contact the seller
This option is in the " Did we answer your question? " section.
Step 8. Click Continue
Doing so opens a message field.
Step 9. Type a question
Enter a question such as " I would like to cancel my bid(s) on your item ", followed by the item name.
- If you have a link to an item for sale, use the link.
- You may need to fill in additional information, depending on the seller.
Step 10. Click Send
The message will be sent immediately. While sellers are under no obligation to cancel bids, they will usually accept cancellation requests.
