Gumtree is a free advertising website available to users living in the UK (www.gumtree.com.uk) and Australia (www.gumtree.com.au). To place an ad on Gumtree, you must be a user, select a location, and upload an ad using the Gumtree ad form. Follow the guide below to create an official ad on Gumtree. This guide is for the English-language Gumtree website.

Step 1. Visit https://www.gumtree.com/ to enter the official Gumtree website
If you're not registered yet, you'll need to create a Gumtree account to place ads. Also include your location.
Step 2. Click the orange “Post an Ad” button located at the top right corner of the screen
If you are not logged into your account, you will be redirected to the login page or create an account. Creating a Gumtree account is quite easy and free of charge.
Step 3. Enter your email address and password, then click “Continue

Click "No, I am new to Gumtree" if you haven't registered for a Gumtree account yet. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to create an account
Step 4. Choose your ad category
For example, if you want to sell certain items, click “For Sale.”
Step 5. Click the subcategory that corresponds to your ad on the left side of the screen
For example, if you sell gardening equipment, click “Home and Garden.”
Step 6. Select the appropriate subcategory for your Ad when Gumtree displays a more specific category
For example, if you click “Home and Garden” to sell gardening equipment, you will be asked to select a more specific category, such as “Garden and Patio Furniture.”
Step 7. Click “Continue” when finished selecting the category for your ad
Step 8. Review the details of the ad category, then enter the postal code in the column provided
Step 9. Enter the ad title using approximately 100 characters in the “Ad title” column
Step 10. Enter the price of the item you are selling
The price column may not appear in some of the ads and categories that you select. For example, you don't have to put a price on an ad created to sell free stuff in the “Freebies” category
Step 11. Click “Add image” to upload a photo and attach it to your ad
Photos can help entice shoppers to visit your ad.
Step 12. Enter a description of your ad in the “Description” field
The description should include all important information about your ad. For example, if you are going to sell a device, use the description field to include information such as the shape, condition, brand, model, features, and color of the device.
Step 13. Enter your contacts in the fields provided
You can choose to be contacted via email or cell phone, depending on your preference.
Step 14. Click “Post my ad
” Your ad will appear on Gumtree.
