When you drive a car on the road, then you see a dull old car, as if the owner doesn't care about the car? You don't want to be like him do you? With the right care, you can keep your car looking fresh and new. Follow these instructions and learn how to polish your car.

Part 1 of 3: Preparing to polish the car
Step 1. Wash your car
Using a mild soap and water, clean the entire car in preparation for polishing it. Your car must be completely clean and dry before starting to polish. Polishing is more difficult on a dirty and wet car than on a clean car.
Step 2. For paint that is dull, scratched or damaged, apply compound before polishing
The scrubbing compound is slightly abrasive which will actually scrape off a small layer of paint.
Polishing compound is less abrasive than coarse compound, more suitable for preparation of polishing. Use a microfiber cloth to rub the compound all over the car and use another microfiber cloth to clean it
Step 3. Polish at 13°C and 30°C, preferably in the shade
In hot weather, the polish dries quickly when you apply it to the car, and is difficult to rub off. This will also make the polish difficult to clean.
Step 4. Polish in the garage, out of direct sunlight
Due to the temperature reasons as above, it is best to polish your car indoors so that sunlight does not interfere with the polishing. Sunlight will heat up the surface of the car which will cause a polish residue, which is difficult to clean. If you can, polish the car in the garage. If you don't have a garage, find a shady spot in the shade of a tree or building, on a cool morning or evening.
Part 2 of 3: Polishing your car
Step 1. Select the wax you will use
Ideally, waxes containing carnauba are the best, even if they are a little expensive. But there are other types of wax you might want to know about:
- "Cleaner wax" is usually less expensive, but will also be harsher. Cleaner wax will erode the clear layer on your car's paint. If you use this wax, consider skipping the polishing stage of the polish preparation.
- Spray wax would be easier, but it has a downside. It doesn't last long. Spray waxes that have been tried, usually only last two weeks before then the benefits disappear.
Step 2. Place the wax on the foam brush which is usually included in the package
Use a coin-sized amount of wax for an area of 60x60cm. Make sure you check the user manual.
- How much wax should be used? Better less than too much. Using too much wax will leave more dirt, which is difficult to remove, and creates deposits. A thin layer of wax will stick more to the surface of the car.
- If you didn't get a foam brush with your wax, use a damp sponge. It's not the best tool, but it can still be used. If you use a sponge, don't use it to wash dishes later.
Step 3. Using gentle overlapping circular motions, apply the wax evenly to a small area of the car's surface
Divide your car into sections, and polish by section, adding wax if necessary. A soft circular polish - about 3-5 lbs - is enough for a good finish.
Step 4. Buff the car (optional)
Use a high-speed, dual-action, or random orbital buffer to apply more wax to the car and buff out any imperfections. Set your buffer at a low speed, apply wax to the buffing pad or directly onto the car, and buff the car holding the buffer evenly on the surface of the car. Apply more wax as needed
Step 5. Let the wax sit for a few minutes, according to the directions
After polishing, wait according to the instructions. This will include polishing and scrubbing, pausing, and removing wax.
This is a way to tell if the wax is ready to clean. Make strokes with your finger. If there are traces, it means it's still not ready. if it is clean, then the wax is ready to be cleaned
Step 6. Use a microfiber cloth to remove the wax and give it a glossy finish
Use one side of the cloth to remove the wax in a circular motion. When the fabric feels like dragging, then you have to turn the fabric over. Continue until the car body is shiny
Step 7. Continue polishing your car until it is shiny
Make sure you clean the remaining wax. You are successful!
Part 3 of 3: Optimizing the benefits of wax
Step 1. Make sure you wash the car with a special car soap that is waxed
Of course you can use a mild dish soap if you want, but that will take away the shine from the wax. Use a special soap for cars that are waxed, and polish again with wax if necessary.
Step 2. Double-wax the glossy area
Many professionals do double wax for a deeper shine. Start with synthetic wax, polish for extra shine. Clean, and continue with carnauba wax. Polishing like this is usually for car shows.
Step 3. Remove the stain
If you've removed the wax but the stain is still there, here's a tip. Fill a spray bottle with distilled water. Add a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol to the bottle and mix until smooth. Spray the stained surface and wipe with a microfiber cloth.
Step 4. Be aware that the surface wax will wear off sooner or later than the information on the package
Every car is different. You'll know when to re-polish when you notice your car is getting dull, not relying on wax instructions.
- Wax manufacturers usually recommend using more and more wax so that you come back to buy it.
- On the other hand, some types of wax do not last long and must be used more often.
Step 5. Do not apply wax to matte paint
Matte paint does not need to be waxed. Shiny particles are haram for matte paint.
Tips
- Several thin layers are better than one thick layer.
- Polishing your car will make your car look good, and the selling price is high.
