This wikiHow teaches you how to create a Gmail contact list that you can email at the same time. However, you can't create a mailing list using the mobile version of the Gmail app, or select your mailing list as a recipient in the mobile version of the Gmail app.
Step
Step 1. Go to the Google Contacts page
Run a web browser on your computer and visit https://contacts.google.com/. If you are signed in to Google, a page with your Google contacts will open.
- If you're not logged into your Google account, type in your email address when prompted, then click NEXT and enter the password. Next, go to Google by clicking NEXT.
- If you're logged into the wrong account, click the profile icon at the top right of the page, then select the correct account (if you've previously logged in) or click Add account and type in your email address and password when prompted.
Step 2. Select the desired contact
Hover your mouse over the contact's profile photo (or their first letter if the person didn't upload a photo), then click the checkbox that appears below the mouse cursor. Repeat this process for all the contacts you want to add.
Step 3. Click the "Labels" icon
It's in the top-right corner. A drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 4. Click Create label
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu. A pop-up window will be displayed.
Step 5. Type in a name
Type in something you want to use as the name of the mailing list. This name should be entered into the " To " field the next time you send the email.
Step 6. Click OK in the lower right corner of the pop-up window
Doing so will save your contact list in the form of labels.
Step 7. Open the Gmail inbox
Go to https://www.gmail.com/ and enter your email address and password when prompted.
You must be logged into the same account that was used to create the mailing list
Step 8. Click COMPOSE which is on the left side of your inbox
The " New Message " window will be opened.
Step 9. Enter the label name
In the " To " field at the top of the " New Message " window, type the name of the group. You can see the group name along with a preview of some of the contacts under the " To " column.
Step 10. Select the group
Click the name of the group below the " To " column to be the recipient of the email.
Step 11. Type in the subject and body of the message
Do this in the "Subject" column and the blank text field below it, respectively.
Step 12. Click Send
It's a blue button in the lower-left corner of the "New Message" window. The email will be sent to everyone in the group.
Tips
- Use the " Bcc " field (not " To ") to hide the mailing list contact name so that fellow recipients can't see each other.
- You can also access the contact list by clicking ⋮⋮⋮ in the upper-right corner of the Gmail page, then click More at the bottom of the drop-down menu that appears. Next, click Contacts in the drop-down menu.
