Saddles are used to ride horses, mules (breeds of horses with donkeys), and pigs in the game Minecraft. However, unlike many other objects in Minecraft, you can't make a saddle if you need to. So you have to look for it. If you have good equipment, you can find them in various chests in dungeons and temples. If you carry loot, you can exchange emeralds for the villagers for saddles. You can also get a saddle by fishing, though that's unlikely. If you really need a saddle, you can also do some cheats to get it in no time.
Step
Part 1 of 5: Finding the Saddle in the Chest
Step 1. Look for chests that are rare on your adventure
Since you can't make saddles, one of the best ways to find them is to open all the chests you come across. You have a low chance of getting a saddle in the chests you find. But you can be lucky to get them in certain areas of the world.
Step 2. Look for the dungeon
The best chance to get a saddle is in the dungeons scattered all over your world. The chance of a loot saddle appearing in a chest in a dungeon is 54%. Basements can be identified by their cobblestone walls, floors, and ceilings. This place usually contains a zombie, skeleton, or spider spawner, and a chest or two. You may also find dungeons that don't contain chests, but this is rare. If there are two chests, you have a high chance of getting a saddle in one of them.
- You can find dungeons anywhere in the world.
- The 54% saddle breeding chance will decrease to 29% in Minecraft 1.9.
Step 3. Walk to the Nether and find the Nether stronghold
Another place where there is a high probability of a chest containing a saddle is in the Nether Fortress. You must skeletonize the Nether Portal from obsidian blocks in order to access the Nether. For detailed instructions see How to Create a Nether Portal in Minecraft. The Nether is a dangerous place, so bring strong equipment and plenty of supplies.
Your chance of finding a saddle in a chest in the Nether Fortress is 40%. This chance will drop to 35% if you play Minecraft 1.9
Step 4. Look for the temple in the desert
The building is located in a desert biome, and the floor of the temple structure is always at the Y:64 position. This means that the temple can be partially or completely buried in the sand.
- When you come across a temple, look for the blue clay block in the middle of the floor. Dig through this section to open a secret room containing four chests. Each chest gives a 15% chance of containing a saddle, but the chance will increase to 24% in Minecraft 1.9. So, it is almost certain that you will be able to get a saddle from the four chests.
- Watch out for hidden TNT mines when you enter the secret room. Drop an object first to detonate the mine.
Step 5. Look for the blacksmith in the village
You have a good chance of encountering a blacksmith in the village. Blacksmiths have a chest in their building, and you have a 16% chance of getting a saddle in that chest.
Step 6. Examine the temple in the forest and the abandoned mine tunnel
In both locations there are chests that can contain saddles, but only have about a 15% chance for each chest. There are two chests in the forest temple protected with hidden mines. You can find several chests in abandoned mine tunnels, depending on the size of the mine tunnel.
You won't find saddles in abandoned mine tunnels in Minecraft 1.9
Part 2 of 5: Swapping for Saddles
Step 1. Find a leather craftsman in the village to exchange with
If you're playing the computer or console version of Minecraft, you can trade items for emeralds, or vice versa, with the villagers you meet around the world. By making the available exchanges (so you have an emerald), you have the opportunity to make additional trades. The leather craftsman in the village (the one who wears the white apron) can trade the saddle as an exchange option in the third tier.
The item exchange option is not available in Minecraft PE
Step 2. Get some emeralds
You'll need about 9 to 16 emeralds to get a pass to buy the saddle, plus another 8 to 10 emeralds to buy the saddle itself. Emeralds can be obtained by mining, in chests, or by trading with other villagers. Look for articles on wikiHow about how to get emeralds by mining.
Step 3. Open the exchange window with the leather craftsman
Once you have the emerald, open the swap window by right-clicking the leather craftsman.
Step 4. Use 2 to 4 emeralds to buy leather pants
After making the exchange, close the exchange window. Leather craftsmen will proceed to the next level of exchange.
Step 5. Reopen the exchange window and buy a leather tunic
This exchange requires 7 to 12 emeralds. Make sure you have closed the swap window again to proceed to the next level.
Step 6. Open the swap window a third time so you can swap the saddles
You can trade 8 to 10 emeralds for a saddle from a leather craftsman. Buy the saddle if you do have enough emeralds.
Part 3 of 5: Getting a Saddle by Fishing
Step 1. Watch for saddles when you fish
Chances are small (less than 1%), but there is a chance that you will get a saddle by fishing. You may not be able to make this your primary way to get a saddle, but if you fish often, you will eventually get one.
Step 2. Make a fishing rod (fishing rod)
Make a simple fishing rod using three sticks and two ropes. You can make sticks out of wooden planks, and get rope from spiders and cobwebs.
Place three sticks diagonally starting from the bottom left towards the top right on the crafting grid. Place the two ropes in the other two slots in the right column
Step 3. Get closer to the water
You can fish in any part of the water, and the results will not depend on the location you choose to fish.
Step 4. Throw your hook
Use the rod to toss the hook into the water. Look closely at your float to determine the right time to reel in the fishing line.
Step 5. Roll the fishing line when the float goes into the water
This indicates that your hook is caught in something. Rolling the rope at the right time can send your catch flying through the air toward you.
Step 6. Spell your fishing rod with Luck of the Sea
This enchantment increases your chances of finding treasure while fishing. The third tier of this spell can give you a 1.77% chance of getting the saddle, up from the previous 0.84% chance.
- Don't use the Lure spell if you want to get a saddle or other treasure, as this spell can reduce your chances.
- For more details on how to cast spells, see How to Make a Charm Table in Minecraft.
Part 4 of 5: Using Cheats to Get Saddles
Step 1. Enable cheats
You must enable cheats for your world in order to access this option. This cheat can be activated in two ways, depending on whether you have created a world or not:
- When creating a new world, cheats can be activated from the Create World menu.
- When you have created the world, go to the Pause menu and select "Open to LAN". Toggle " Allow Cheats " to ON.
Step 2. Switch the game mode to Creative for easier access to the saddle
The easiest way to cheat and earn saddles is to open your world in Creative mode and place the saddle next to your player.
To switch modes, open a chat window (T) and type /gamemode c. Then select the saddle from the list of available items and place it in your world. When you switch back to Survival mode (/gamemode s), you can pick up the saddle and use it
Step 3. Get the saddle on command
Use console commands to breed saddles in your inventory. Open a chat window by pressing the T key, then type the command below to get one saddle:
/give playername saddle 1
Step 4. Bring in a tame horse that has been equipped with a saddle
If you don't want to go to the trouble of finding horses to tame, use underhand methods to breed horses equipped with saddles. Open a chat window by pressing the T key, then type the command below:
/summon EntityHorse ~ ~ ~ {Tame:1, SaddleItem:{id:329, Count:1}}
Part 5 of 5: Using the Saddle
Step 1. Tame a wild horse by approaching and using the horse with your bare hands
Then you will climb on his back, and your body will most likely be thrown. After a few tries, the horse will let you stay on its back and will give you a heart-shaped animation.
Step 2. Open your inventory while still riding the horse
Make sure you have a ready-to-use saddle.
Step 3. Place the saddle in the saddle slot next to the horse image
Now you can get around on horseback, using the same controls you would use to move normally. Horses can also jump far by pressing and holding the Jump button.
Step 4. Remove the saddle
To remove the saddle from the horse's back, select your horse and remove the saddle from the inventory.
Step 5. Put the saddle on the pig's back
Not only horses you can ride! You can put a saddle on a pig's back and ride it around the world:
- While holding the saddle, use the pig you want to saddle with. Now the pig will wear the saddle permanently.
- Take control of the saddle-wearing pig with a carrot stuck on a stick. After a while, the pig will run at five blocks per second.
- The saddle on the pig's back cannot be removed unless the pig dies.
