This wikiHow teaches you how to find, prepare, and eat food in the mobile version of the game Minecraft. You can only eat food when playing Survival mode with a difficulty of " Easy " or higher, and the hunger bar must be less than 100 percent.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Getting Ready
Step 1. Run Minecraft PE
This app resembles a pile of grass sitting on top of a block of dirt.
Step 2. Tap Play
It's in the center of the screen.
Minecraft PE will set the screen of your tablet or phone in landscape mode. So you have to hold the device horizontally, not vertically
Step 3. Tap on the existing world
Your last position will be loaded in that world.
-
The world you select must be in Survival mode, and the difficulty setting must not be "Peaceful".
-
You can also tap Create New at the top of the page, then tap Generate Random at the top of the next page to customize the new world settings. Run this new world by tapping Play which is on the left side of the screen.
Part 2 of 3: Getting and Eating Raw Food
Step 1. Choose the type of food your game character wants to eat
You can do several ways to get food in Minecraft:
Step 2. Look for an animal or an oak tree
Wherever you start the game, you'll be in an area not far from an oak tree or an animal.
- Kill an animal, then pick up the dropped object. You can kill an animal by tapping it repeatedly until it flashes red.
- Only oaks and dark oaks can drop apples. No other tree dropped anything edible.
Step 3. Kill the animal or remove the leaves from the tree
Especially early in the game, you can find pigs, chickens or sheep and tap them repeatedly until they die. Alternatively, you can also find an oak tree and remove all the leaves. The leaves can be removed by tapping and holding the pile of leaves on a tree until the circle around your finger is completely filled. This action can drop the apple (although it rarely happens).
- Avoid certain types of food such as rotting meat (from killer zombies) and spider eyes (from killer spiders) because they are poisonous.
- To do this step, you don't need any equipment.
Step 4. Select the desired food
This can be done by tapping on its icon in the hotbar at the bottom of the screen. You can also select it from the inventory by tapping … which is on the right side of the hotbar, then tap on it in the inventory.
Step 5. Press and hold your device screen
Your game character will move the food towards the face, and a few seconds later, the food will disappear. Your hunger bar will also increase.
Keep in mind that you can only eat food when the hunger bar (in the top right corner) is less than 100 percent. Otherwise, the food held only serves as a tool that will hit the block
Part 3 of 3: Cooking Food
Step 1. Gather the required materials
If you want to cook food, you'll need a stove, coal or wood, and a piece of meat or potatoes. You will need a crafting table and 8 cobblestones to build a furnace.
- Make a craft table by cutting a block of wood.
- You should at least have a wooden pickaxe to mine cobblestones.
- Cut an extra block of wood to fuel the stove. It can be used to cook a single item. Or, chop two blocks of wood, then cook one block of wood for charcoal. Charcoal can be used to cook 8 items.
Step 2. Tap…
It's on the right side of the hotbar, at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3. Tap on the “Crafting” tab
It's on the left side of the screen, above the tabs in the lower-left corner.
Step 4. Tap the crate icon, then tap the 4 x button
Knob 4 x is on the right side of the screen, and the crate icon is on the right. One wooden block will turn into 4 wooden crates.
Step 5. Tap the crafting table icon, then tap the 1 x button
This button resembles the tab you are currently using. This will result in one crafting table.
Step 6. Tap on the crafting table which is on the hotbar
The table will be placed in your hand.
If the table is not in the hotbar, tap … twice, then tap the crafting table icon.
Step 7. Tap X
It's in the top left corner.
Step 8. Tap on the space that is in front of you
The crafting table will be placed on the ground.
Step 9. Tap the crafting table if you have at least 8 cobblestones
The crafting table interface will open, which you can use to select a furnace.
Step 10. Tap the furnace icon, then tap 1 x
This is a block of gray stone that has a black hole in the front.
Step 11. Tap X again
The crafting table interface will close.
Step 12. Tap on the oven which is on the hotbar
The oven will be placed in your hand.
Again, if the oven is not suitable, tap … and select the oven.
Step 13. Tap on the space in front of you
The oven will be placed on the ground.
Step 14. Tap the oven
The oven interface will open. There are three boxes on the right side of the screen:
- Input - This is a place to put food.
- Fuel - This is the place to put the wood.
- Result - Cooked food will appear in this place.
Step 15. Tap the “Input” box, then tap a piece of meat
The meat will be placed in the "Input" box.
Step 16. Tap the " Fuel " box, then tap a block of wood
The wood will be placed in the oven, and your food will begin to cook.
Step 17. Wait for the food to finish cooking
When something appears in the "Result" box, it means that your food has finished cooking.
Step 18. Double tap on the food which is in the “Result” box
The food will be added to the inventory.
Step 19. Select the desired food
This can be done by tapping on its icon in the hotbar at the bottom of the screen. You can also select it from the inventory by tapping … which is on the right side of the hotbar, then tap on it in the inventory.
Step 20. Press and hold the screen
Your game character will move the food towards the face, and a few seconds later, the food will disappear. Your hunger bar will also increase.
- Keep in mind that you can only eat food when the hunger bar (in the upper right corner) is less than 100 percent. Otherwise, the food held only serves as a tool that will hit the block.
- Cooked food can restore the hunger bar in greater numbers than raw food.
