Shedinja is a mysterious Pokémon that floats and doesn't move in the air. He only has 1 blood, but Shedinja cannot be attacked using most of the skills in the game. To get Shedinja, you'll need to evolve your Nincada and meet several other requirements. Shedinja can become very powerful and strengthen your competitive team in an unexpected way.
Step
Step 1. Catch the Nincada
Shedinja appears when Nincada evolves into Ninjask as long as you meet the right conditions. You can find Shedinja in the following locations, depending on your version of the game.
- Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald - You can find Nincada in the grass on Route 116.
- FireRed and LeafGreen - You can get a Nincada by exchanging it from a friend.
- Diamonds, Pearls and Platinum - You can find Nincada in the Eterna Forest, but you need a Poké Radar.
- HeartGold and SoulSilver - You can get a Nincada in the Bug Catching Contest held in National Park on Thursdays and Saturdays.
- Black, White, B2 and W2 - You can get a Nincada by exchanging it from a friend.
- X and Y - You can get Nincada in the grass of Route 6. You can also find it in Ground type zones in Friend Safari.
- Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire - You can find Nincada in the grass on Route 116.
Step 2. Leave one space in the team
To get Shedinja when Nincada evolves, you need one free space in the team. This means you can only carry five or fewer Pokémon, including Nincada.
Step 3. Have one extra Poké Ball (for some versions of the game only)
Certain versions of the game require you to have at least one Poké Ball in your bag. Your Poké Ball must be a standard one, not a special Poké Ball like Ultra Ball.
- Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum do not require you to have extra Poké Balls. Other versions of the game require you to own one.
- Note that since Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Poké Balls are not required, Shedinja will copy the Poké Balls used to catch Nincada. This is the only way to get Shedinja in non-standard Poké Balls.
Step 4. Train Nincada to at least level 20
Level 20 is the first level that allows Nincada to evolve into Ninjask. Make sure that you meet both the requirements for space in the team and the Poké Ball before letting the Nincada evolve or you won't get Shedinja. You can level up your Nincada by using it in battle or by using Rare Candy.
Preventing a Nincada from evolving will allow you to train both a Nincada and a Shedinja at the same time, as the Shedinja inherits all aspects of the Nincada as it evolves. You can prevent the evolution process by holding down the "B" button while the evolution is in progress. For example, preventing a Nincada from evolving to level 50 would result in a level 50 Shedinja as well with all the skills that Nincada had learned by then
Step 5. Let Nincada evolve to get Shedinja
As long as you meet the requirements, Shedinja will appear in the group. You will not be notified that you got it.
- Because Shedinja is obtained from Nincada, if the Nincada you have is the Shiny type, the Shedinja you get is the same. Shedinja also inherited all of the EVs and IVs owned by Nincada.
- Shedinja's blood is only 1, but Shedinja is not very vulnerable. Shedinja's skill, Wonder Guard, allows her to only receive "Super Effective" attacks. Shedinja's attacks are also quite strong. If you teach him the Quick Claw skill, the enemy can be defeated first before he can use the Super Effective skill that can attack Shedinja.
