This wikiHow teaches you how to access your Gmail account on iPhone with Apple Mail or one of Google's official apps, Gmail or Inbox.

Method 1 of 2: Adding a Gmail Account to the Apple Mail App
Step 1. Open Settings
This gray app with the gear icon (⚙️) is usually on the home screen.
Step 2. Scroll down the screen and tap Mail
It's in a section with other Apple apps, such as Calendar and Notes.
Step 3. Tap Accounts in the first section of the menu
Step 4. Tap Add Account which is at the bottom of the " ACCOUNTS " section
Step 5. Touch Google located in the middle of the list
Step 6. Type your Gmail address in the provided field
Step 7. Touch NEXT
This is the blue button on the screen.
Step 8. Type the password in the field provided
Step 9. Touch NEXT
This is the blue button on the screen.
If you have two-step verification for Gmail enabled, type in the verification code you received in a text message, or use Authenticator
Step 10. Switch "Mail" to the "On" position
The color will turn green.
You can select other Gmail data that you want to sync with your iPhone by swiping the data you want to view on your iPhone to the “On” (green) position
Step 11. Tap Save which is in the top right corner
Now you can send and receive Gmail messages through the iPhone's built-in Mail app.
Method 2 of 2: Using the Gmail or Inbox App
Step 1. Open the App Store
It's a blue app with a white "A" in a circle.
Step 2. Touch Search at the bottom right of the screen
Next, tap the " Search " field at the top of the screen, then type " Gmail ". As you type, the appropriate application will appear on the screen, under the "Search" field.
Step 3. Select the desired application
Both Gmail and Inbox are official Google applications that can be used to send and receive Gmail messages via iPhone.
The main difference is that you can set up an email account other than Gmail if you use the Inbox app
Step 4. Touch GET located on the right side of the desired application
When the text on the button changes to INSTALL, tap the button again. The app icon will be added on the home screen.
Step 5. Touch OPEN
The button is in the same place as the button GET and INSTALL.
Step 6. Touch Allow
By doing so, you are allowing the app to send notifications when you receive an email.
- If you're using the Inbox app instead of Gmail, you'll be asked to sign in first in order to allow notifications.
- You can change these settings by going to Settings, scrolling down the screen and touching Notifications, then touch Gmail or Inbox.
Step 7. Touch SIGN IN located at the bottom of the screen
Step 8. Add Gmail account
If the account is listed in the " Account " list, slide the account to the " On " (blue) position.
- If your account is not listed there, touch + Add account at the bottom of the list. Next, type in your Gmail address, touch NEXT, type the password, then touch NEXT.
- If you have two-step verification for Gmail turned on, type in the verification code you received in a text message, or use Authenticator.
Step 9. Touch DONE which is in the top left corner
Now you have set up a Gmail account on your iPhone via one of the official Google apps.
