The resolution of the Sony Blu-ray player has a high definition (HD) with the aim of supporting a high definition TV as well. The most appropriate way to connect these two systems is to use an HDMI cable because this cable is able to connect audio and sound quickly.

Part 1 of 4: Preparing for Installation
Step 1. Take the Blu-ray player out of the box
Look for the Blu-ray player's power cord and HDMI cable. If your device does not have an HDMI cable, use an RCA cable to connect the TV.
If your Blu-ray player doesn't have an HDMI cable, you can buy one at an internet retailer. An HDMI cable will provide the best connection for your device
Step 2. Find the power outlet for the Blu-ray player
Make sure the cable can reach the TV outlet and console. After that, plug the power plug into your Blu-ray player.
Step 3. Turn off the TV
Part 2 of 4: Connecting All Electronic Devices
Step 1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the back of the Blu-ray player
Step 2. Insert the other end into the HDMI port on the side or back of the HDTV
Step 3. Attach the RCA A/V cable to the back of the Blu-ray player and TV according to the color (red, white, and yellow) if you prefer to use this type of cable over the HDMI cable
Don't forget to plug the audio cable into the Blu-ray player and TV
Step 4. Turn on the Blu-ray player

Part 3 of 4: Setting Up the Blu-ray Player
Step 1. Take the TV remote
Find the " input " button. This option will show what devices are shown on the TV.
Step 2. Select the option according to the type of port used
For example, if you plugged the cable into the HDMI-2 port on the side of the TV, choose the option labeled "HDMI-2".
- If using an RCA cable, the option will usually be named "Video-1."
- Press the input button to try all available options. Wait a few seconds before changing options so you can find the one that shows the Blu-ray player menu.
Step 3. Insert the Blu-ray into the player using the buttons on the outside of the device
Insert the Blu-ray and wait a few seconds for the player to successfully read the disc.
Step 4. Use the buttons on the TV remote or Blu-ray player remote to play, stop, pause, replay, and speed up videos
Press the menu button to access the main menu.
Step 5. Connect the Blu-ray player to the internet if the player has an Internet device
In the Blu-ray menu, find the option to connect the Blu-ray player to a wireless network. After you enter the network name and password, you can rent movies and watch them directly from the Blu-ray player.
You can also connect it to the modem using an Ethernet cable
Part 4 of 4: Adjusting TV Settings
Step 1. Set the ratio on the TV to a rectangular shape
Find the settings button on the remote, then select the 16:9 ratio.
Step 2. Set the TV resolution
Press the setting button on the remote. Select 1080 resolution if available on the TV. This resolution is the standard Blu-ray resolution.
