Learning how to disguise your voice can be a fun way to joke around, whether it's playing pranks on your friends or trying to get permission to skip school. If you want to change the voice on your phone or change the way you talk, there are small changes that can make a big impact.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Masking Your Voice on Phone
Step 1. Download a voice changer app
There are various types of smartphone apps for iPhone and Android that you can use to change your voice; most of them are free. New apps are always popping up, so check the app store to see which programs are available.
Some of these apps let you record your voice and play it back in a manipulated form, while others let you talk into your phone and then make weird robot noises and other big changes. One app, called Call Voice Changer, even lets you make calls with your new fake voice
Step 2. Record your voice on computer and add effects
You can use Digital Audio Workstation (D. A. W) on Windows or Mac. Garageband, ProTools or Ableton can all be used to record and manipulate your voice and then change it.
- Use effects and plug-ins such as distortion, pitch tuning, speed control to make your voice sound dreary, low or high, depending on what you prefer.
- Record yourself saying casual or funny phrases like, "What do you need?" or "Is there a message?" or "My child can't come to school today" to make a joke.
Step 3. Masquerade your voice with background noise
Play music at enough volume so you can still hear your voice. You can also use other recorded sounds such as the sound of road traffic, white noise and static, or even the sound of heavy machinery.
- Others can help you by making a buzzing sound or other sound when you speak that has the same effect as the recorded sound.
- Place a handkerchief or other piece of cloth over the voice input holder on the phone and move the cloth to create a static effect. Try to use different materials to produce different effects.
Step 4. Buy an affordable voice changer toy
One of the quickest and easiest ways to change your voice is to buy a small megaphone with funny effects to use while talking. Voice changing kits are available at magic supply or gift and joke stores, as well as at serious security supply stores and even Halloween supply stores.
- Toys of this kind are usually available in various price ranges and usually the price will determine the quality. Even inexpensive toys can help make your voice sound a lot different.
- A regular megaphone can also be used to change your voice. Just don't talk too close to the megaphone, otherwise you can deafening the listener.
Method 2 of 2: Talking in a Different Way
Step 1. Change the pitch of your voice
If you want to speak differently without the help of electronics or other tricks, you can learn to change the pitch of your voice. This will make you sound very different than usual.
- If your voice naturally sounds low, use your head voice to speak at a higher pitch than usual. This can be done by pinching your nose to the roof of your mouth and speaking from the back of your throat. Imagine as if you were sick with the flu.
- If you have a higher voice, speak from the bottom of your throat and diaphragm to make your voice sound much lower. Pretend that your voice is coming deeper from the back of your throat.
Step 2. Change the way you pronounce the words
If you start pronouncing the words you use differently, they will sound as if they were spoken by someone else. This step can be a funny way of composing a number of words and sounding different.
- Eliminate the last part of the words. Instead of pronouncing "unplug" it says "cabs".
- Slide the letters in the middle of the word. Instead of saying "go" say "go". Instead of "whatever" say "whatever".
- Add extra syllables where they don't belong. Instead of saying "wife" say "wife".
- Replace vowels in words. Instead of saying "there" say "to sono."
- Speak in an accent that you can master and sound convincing.
Step 3. Change the shape of your mouth
You can do several things to the shape of your jaw, lips and mouth to change your voice. Try the following steps:
- Purse your lips as if you are whistling, and speak. Your voice will sound very different.
- Try to stick your tongue out a little when you speak. This tends to mask your voice somewhat.
- Open your mouth wide and speak.
Step 4. Try to imitate someone
Even if your clone doesn't sound very precise, if you want to sound different from your usual self, try imitating the odd accent of a celebrity, or just someone you know. Here are some celebrities you should try to emulate:
- Nycta Gina (Jeng Kelin)
- Jeremy Tety
- Mpok Nori
- Arie Kriting
- Toro Margens
- Syahrini
Step 5. Use different types of words
Although the sound will sound more or less the same, if you use unusual words this can also be an effective disguise. Try these tips for picking words you don't normally use:
- Use words that sound smart or classy. Don't say "good" say "brilliant" or "spectacular". Don't say "ho'oh", say "that's right."
- Use old words or words you've only ever heard from your grandparents. Don't call something "cool" but call it "slick" or "pretty".
- Use lots of abbreviations or slang or use typical language when sending short messages. New terms typical of young people will be a good choice. Or in this term "hits ngets".
Step 6. Speak at a slower rate than usual
Pause between each word and take frequent breaths or dragging your words as you speak, giving more syllables there. You can also increase the speed of your speech and babble very quickly, although this is sometimes more difficult.
Warning
- Do not use any of these techniques to earn money. This kind of behavior is one reason why identity theft is a serious crime.
- Don't disguise your voice to hurt someone's feelings. Hurting someone's feelings is never funny.
- Do not use any of the above techniques to create a threatening phone. The person you call can call the police and report you.
