Sometimes you need to throw a good party. There's nothing better than hosting and seeing your friends together in one place. But how to do it? With enough planning, the right food and music, a solid guest list, and a few things to do, your party will be great and can even become a tradition.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Deciding on Your Party Plan
Step 1. Choose a place
Where will you do the party? Will it be a big event, or will only a few people attend? Can it be held at your house or a friend's house? Is there a special place in your mind like a restaurant, bowling alley, movie theater, or park?
If you are planning to invite several people and your house is not enough, you need to make a reservation where you want in advance. It's best if you call him a week in advance to make sure all goes well
Step 2. Determine the date and venue for your party
If it's a birthday party, most will want to have the party on that date. Otherwise, every weekend night is a great time for you and your guests as they are usually holidays. Most parties are after dinner, but parties during the day are okay too.
- Choose a date that most of your guests can come. Do you know of another party that will be held or is there a community event taking place on that date? You may need to ask around before setting a date.
- You may also need to determine the duration of your party. This way at midnight, your guests know they don't have to go home, but they can't stay at your place. It also helps people not to worry about the schedule ending suddenly.
Step 3. Determine the theme
Is this a special event? If so, think about what would please guests. Otherwise, try choosing a theme that everyone will be interested in. Here are some tips:
- Do something accessible, especially if the party is this weekend. An all-black party is easy, a 1940s theme party is hard due to a lack of preparation time.
- Do something unrelated to clothes. A sandwich party (everyone brings a sandwich) can be a great idea. Wine or beer feast can also be chosen.
- Go for a broader theme, like a “golf” or “owl” theme.
- Or don't use a theme. Sometimes just hanging out with friends is enough fun.
Step 4. Plan your guest list
This will determine where you have the party and how many people the venue can accommodate. What's more, who would you like to be there and enjoy the party? Can anyone not be present at that time?
- Not everyone wants to dance and hear music; some people just want to talk and relax. If your party chooses one of these 2 options, consider who will attend. However, if you can, try to accommodate different interests and social levels with space planning, and if possible, consider age as well.
- Also decide whether your friend can bring another friend or not. This will greatly change how many people you have to feed.
Step 5. Determine the budget
If this is your party, it's usually you who has to fund it. You need to decorate it too. How much can you set aside? If it's not a lot, try asking some of your friends to contribute. They also want to party right?
A great way to cut costs is with a potluck party. This way everyone will contribute so you don't have to pay for all the food. You can also specifically ask people to bring drinks, ice, plates, and cutlery
Step 6. Spread the word
The party wouldn't be a party if no one came. A great way to get started is through Facebook events, although you'll also need to invite personally. Plan to start notifying this 2 weeks in advance so your guests don't make an event in advance, too.
You can also make invitations or buy them. Spread this out within a reasonable timeframe. If you plan to have your friends invite friends, don't send out invitations too early or your party will have a very large population
Method 2 of 3: Organizing the Party
Step 1. Prepare your food
Your food is the main thing at the party. If you don't know what to serve, ask around. Safest are snacks, such as chips, vegetables, cookies, small sandwiches, popcorn and fruit.
- Don't forget drinks, ice, glasses, napkins, plates, forks and knives. You also need some kind of fridge to keep your drinks cold.
- Be sure to offer non-alcoholic drinks too as not everyone will want to drink alcohol. You certainly don't want your guests to get drunk and fall asleep in your house.
- Make sure none of your guests have any particular allergies or diets. If so, make sure there are other foods they can enjoy.
Step 2. Create a party playlist
What party if there is no music? Choose music suitable for your party and guests. Also have an iTunes window open on your computer so you can download songs that your guests have suggested.
If you don't have a lot of songs, ask your guests to bring them. You can also play internet radio which often plays the latest songs
Step 3. Set the party mood with lighting and decorations
If you want an energetic dance atmosphere, choose music, disco lights, lasers, fog machines, and some videos that match your music. If you want a classic wine party, choose some candles. It really depends on the party you want.
For decoration, it's up to you. Is there a need for a red carpet? Christmas mood? It is usually the theme of the party that determines your decor. No decorations are really not a problem either
Step 4. If necessary, clean your house
If the party is to be held at your home, be sure to choose an area for your guests to sit, chat, and eat. Clean the area beforehand and tidy it up to make sure your guests are comfortable and don't touch your personal items (photos, phones, or anything else they shouldn't touch or see).
You can also provide cleaning supplies at the party, such as a mop, in case someone spills a drink at the party. Make sure there are tissues available. This may sound strange, but of course you don't want anyone to use your towel
Step 5. Prepare some games
This can be any game from traditional games, to video games and other modern games.
- Rock Band is a great game to play at parties. The game is available on many game consoles with the goal of playing each band member using the guitar, microphone, and drums included in the game.
- The Guitar Hero series is also a great idea. This can be a one or two person game depending on the edition you choose. Like Rock Band, it uses its own controller.
- Dance Dance Revolution can also be used. This can be a one or two person game depending on which controller you have. Even if only a few people play it, depending on the edition you choose, it will also provide good music.
Step 6. Have a plan for guest rules and safety
If the party is at your house, you may need to brief it. Throwing jackets and coats on the bed is probably not allowed. If you feel like throwing up, you can probably go straight to the bathroom instead of the kitchen. Also tell how to use the bathroom.
- If you're renting a space, you may need to remind everyone to take responsibility. If they are noisy, you may be kicked out and not allowed to come back.
- If you are going to drink alcohol at your place, you need to determine how it is run. Will the little ones be there too? Who will look after guests when they are drunk? We will go into more detail in the next section.
Method 3 of 3: Making Your Party a Success
Step 1. Take a photo
Of course you want to remember this moment and flaunt it on Facebook, Twitter or other social media. So start taking photos. Whether it's food photos, or photos of you with friends, or whatever. In fact, just take photos of everything.
If you want more fun, try creating a photobooth, an area devoted to taking photos. Place the cloth behind it as a backdrop, and prepare some small, easy-to-grab props to make cute photos. This is also a fun activity for bored guests
Step 2. Be a social butterfly
There may be many guests at your party who do not know each other. If so, you are the link. To make everyone comfortable (especially at first), be a butterfly, go from group to group, introduce everyone. If everyone has started to mingle and get to know each other, then this is certainly thanks to you.
If this is a problem, try having a game that includes everyone. Charades, Heads Up, and like Truth or Dare are good
Step 3. Immediately clean anything
Parties are very messy. More songs, people will tend to be rude and dirty in a party setting, especially if this is not their home. Whether you're at home or a public place, you need to keep it clean and tidy. It doesn't have to be very clean, but you certainly don't want piles of trash and bottles on your desk, do you?
Be sure to provide a trash can in an open area. If it's full, people will fill it anyway. So throw it away immediately and replace it with a new one before the trash starts strewn around
Step 4. If your guests are drinking at your house, take the key. The party is at your house and you are serving alcohol?
Your guests are your responsibility. Take their keys at the start of the party, hide them somewhere, and only return them if they are still conscious at night.
You can also appoint someone as the key keeper, so you are not responsible for everything. If someone doesn't drink alcohol, ask for help; You are already in charge of many other things
Step 5. When your guests leave, give them a keepsake
Whether it's leftovers, cake, or whatever. This way everyone leaves with something and of course you don't have to worry about leftovers in your house.
Make sure to tag everyone in your photo on Facebook. People will be reminded of how much fun your party was and look forward to the next one. So what's the next party theme?
Tips
- Let people know about this party ahead of time! If they had known earlier, of course they would not have made the event on that date.
- Be sure to talk to everyone and ask if they enjoyed the party to make sure everyone gets noticed. No one wants to sit alone at a party.
- Always be at the party venue two and a half hours early to arrange decorations, cakes, drinks, food, music, etc.
- Always invite more people than you planned because usually some can't come.
- Set aside an extra room in your home in case someone has to stay overnight.
- If you don't have a large number of guests, consider activities like swimming or shopping.
- Consider a theme. Try picking something up-to-date and has a unique name. Choose decorations and start the conversation that fits the theme. Invite people you like or know; inviting people based on status will not improve the quality of your party.
- If there's a theme at your party, write it down on the invitation so no one comes in with the wrong costume or they'll be embarrassed.
- If the party is at your house, and there will be loud music, warn your neighbors ahead of time.
Warning
- Do not let guests invite friends without your permission.
- Do not provide drugs. This can lead to criminal problems.
- Don't invite negative people; they can destroy the atmosphere. Think about how your friends interact. Will anyone be left behind? Is there someone who will annoy others? Do your friends know each other? Do they have the same hobbies?
- Avoid people who don't like each other on your guest list.
- If you are not old enough, don't serve alcohol. Your party could be in trouble and will be dealing with the police, your parents, and your friends' parents.
