Top sirloin steak has the right layer of fat to produce an appetizing meal that many people love. These boneless cuts of beef are usually very affordable, large enough for a family, and can be cooked in a variety of methods. Learn how to choose a top sirloin, and cook it using four popular methods: pan-fried on the stove, grilled, broiled, and roasted.
Step
Method 1 of 5: Preparation for Cooking Top Sirloin Steak
Step 1. Choose a top slice of sirloin at your local butcher or supermarket
- Choose pieces that are large enough for your cooking. Make a serving of 110 to 220 grams per steak for each person.
- Choose pieces that are at least 2.5 cm thick, and preferably 5 cm. Thin cuts of meat will dry out easily when cooked.
- The sirloin cutlet is deep red in color, with a lot of fat. It's the fat that makes the steak delicious.
- There should be white fat around the cutlet.
Step 2. Remove the cutlet from the wrapper
If there is a lot of blood, simply pat the meat dry with a paper towel. After that, throw away the kitchen paper and wash your hands.
Contrary to popular belief, you should not wash raw meat. Washing raw beef and animal meat can actually spread bacteria to other surfaces and food
Step 3. Season the meat to taste
A good cut of meat doesn't need a lot of seasoning. Salt and pepper sprinkled on both sides is enough.
Add garlic powder, cayenne pepper, chili powder, or Italian spices for variety
Step 4. Marinate the meat in seasoning or sauce (marinate) if desired
Top sirloin steak is delicious when marinated in spices, as it goes well with many spices.
- Choose your favorite ready-made marinade, or make your own with equal amounts of oil, vinegar and seasonings.
- Put the meat in a sealed plastic bag and add the marinade. Seal the bag and leave it for 4 hours or overnight.
- When you are ready to cook the steak, remove it from the bag, pat it dry with a thick paper towel, and proceed to the next step.
Step 5. Leave the meat at room temperature for an hour before cooking
Cooking the meat cold will make it more difficult to achieve the "doneness" you want. Meat at room temperature will be easier to cook raw, undercooked, undercooked, or undercooked.
Method 2 of 5: Making Top Sirloin Steak Fries
Step 1. Cut the meat into one serving size
Use a plastic cutting board to avoid contaminating the wooden cutting board.
Step 2. Place the skillet on the stove over medium-high heat
Add a teaspoon or two of cooking oil and let it simmer until it is smoky hot.
Step 3. Place the meat in the center of the pan
Let one side cook for 15 seconds, then flip with tongs to cook the flip side. It should form a thick crispy crust on both sides.
- Don't turn the meat over until it's cooked; turning it over too quickly will prevent a crust from forming.
- Don't fill the pan with meat. If necessary, cook the meat more than once.
Step 4. Keep turning the meat every 30 seconds until cooked
- For rare steaks, cook for a total of 1 minutes each side.
- For half raw steak (medium rare) cook 2 minutes each side.
- For medium well steaks, cook 2 minutes on each side.
- For well done steaks, cook 3 minutes on each side.
Step 5. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 3 minutes
It's time for the liquid to spread throughout the steak.
Step 6. Serve the steak hot
Method 3 of 5: Making Grilled Top Sirloin Steak (Grilled)
Step 1. Cut the steak according to the serving portion
Use a plastic cutting board to avoid contamination when using a wooden cutting board.
Step 2. Prepare the grill
Grease the grill with cooking oil, and heat it to medium-high temperature. Allow the grill to heat up completely.
Keep the grill from getting too hot, so you don't end up with a charred steak that's raw on the inside
Step 3. Place the steak on the grilling surface
Cook for about 4 minutes on the first side. Use tongs to turn them over once the first side has baked marks and has a brown crust. Bake the other side for another 4 minutes.
Step 4. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 3 minutes
Method 4 of 5: Making a Close Fire Grilled Sirloin Steak Top (Broiled)
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius)
Step 2. Spray the surface of the oven-proof broiler pan with non-stick spray
Put the seasoned meat in it.
Step 3. Put the pan in the oven
The surface of the meat should be 5 to 7.5 cm from the heat (top).
Step 4. Allow the meat to broil for 2 to 6 minutes for a 5cm thick steak
Remove the pan from the oven, turn the bacon over to cook the unbaked side, and place in the oven to bake for 5 to 6 minutes.
Method 5 of 5: Making an Oven-Roasted Sirloin Steak Top
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius)
Step 2. Place the meat in a shallow pan
Step 3. Place the baking sheet in the oven
Cook steaks, uncovered, for 40 or 50 minutes.
Step 4. Let the steak sit for 3 minutes before serving
Step 5. Finished
Tips
- If you want to broil the sirloin steak and want a thicker crust on the meat, try broiling each side of the meat in the skillet over high heat for 2 or 3 minutes each side. This will also lock the liquid in the meat before the grilling process.
- If you're not sure if the meat is done, use a thermometer to measure it. Insert the needle until it reaches the deepest part of the steak. No matter how you cook it, the meat is done when the temperature inside the meat reaches between 62.7 and 68.3 degrees Celsius.
- Cooking times will vary depending on the size of the cutlet, so you'll need to adjust accordingly. If you want the top sirloin to be well done, continue to cook 2 or 3 minutes for each side of the meat.
