Step
Method 1 of 2: Cooking Seasoned White Rice
Step 1. Put the white rice, chicken stock, salt and pepper in a saucepan
Place a 2 liter capacity pot on the stove, then add about 300 grams of long-grain white rice and 600 ml of chicken stock into it. Then, add salt and pepper to taste.
To make the rice taste richer, stir-fry 1 red onion using 30 grams of butter over medium heat, then add the sautéed onions to the pot of rice
Step 2. Bring the broth to a boil
Turn on the stove over medium heat until the surface of the broth looks bubbly and boils. Open the lid to let you know when the stock starts to boil. Once the broth boils, reduce the heat to a smaller and inconsistent bubble size, then continue the process of cooking the rice over low heat.
Step 3. Cover the pot and cook the rice for 15-17 minutes
Put a lid on a properly sized pot and cook the rice without even opening the lid. If cooked in a closed state, the hot steam that is formed will cook the rice perfectly. In addition, rice is also able to absorb moisture and delicacy in chicken broth to the maximum because of it.
If there is still any broth remaining after 17 minutes, put the lid back on the pot and continue cooking the rice for another 2-3 minutes
Step 4. Stir the rice with a fork, then sprinkle the surface with chopped fresh parsley
Turn off the stove and open the lid of the pot. If you are seasoning rice with garlic or thyme, use tongs or a fork to remove both. Then, stir the rice with a fork and sprinkle with 1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley onto the surface of the rice just before serving.
Store leftover rice in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Remember, the longer the rice is stored, the drier the texture will be
Method 2 of 2: Cooking Brown and Delicious Rice
Step 1. Roast brown rice for 5 minutes to bring out the distinctive aroma and taste of the beans
Pour 1 tsp. olive oil in a saucepan, then heat the oil over medium heat. Gently tilt the pan so that the bottom is completely coated with the oil. Then, add 200 grams of long-grain brown rice, then roast the rice for 5 minutes to bring out the distinctive aroma and taste of the very delicious beans.
- Every now and then, shake the pan to ensure that the entire surface of the rice is roasted evenly.
- Don't want to roast rice? Skip this stage.
Step 2. Add the chicken stock, water and salt to the pot
Pour 350 ml of chicken stock and 240 ml of water into a saucepan, then add tsp. kosher salt for seasoning rice. If you want a stronger chicken taste, feel free to replace the water with extra chicken stock.
Use chicken stock that you buy at the store or make your own at home
Variation:
If you want to use a rice cooker or a pressure cooker, add the roasted rice and various other ingredients at the same time. Then, close and turn on the rice cooker or high pressure pot to start the cooking process.
Step 3. Bring the liquid of your choice to a boil over high heat
Open the lid to let you know when the liquid starts to boil, and there's no need to stir the rice at this point.
Step 4. Cover the pot and continue to cook the rice on low heat for 40 minutes
Place a properly sized lid on the saucepan, then reduce the heat to low until the surface of the liquid forms small, inconsistent bubbles. Continue cooking rice for 40 minutes without even opening the lid.
If you open the lid when the rice is not cooked, the hot steam that will form will escape and make the rice texture less soft when served
Step 5. Turn off the stove and let the rice sit without opening the lid for 10 minutes
Once the rice has absorbed all of the soaking liquid, turn off the stove. Do not open the lid of the pot and let the rice sit for 10 minutes.
At this stage, the rice ripening process will continue. If the rice is not allowed to stand, the texture will definitely feel sticky or wet when served
Step 6. Stir the rice with a fork and sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley all over the surface
Put on heat-resistant gloves to open the lid, then stir the cooked rice with a fork. To make the rice taste fresher, please sprinkle about 5 grams of chopped fresh parsley on the surface of the rice before serving.
