Menstruation is a sign that you are an adult. However, menstruation sometimes occurs at the most unexpected times. So, make sure you are always ready with your menstrual equipment.
Step
Step 1. Prepare a small bag or purse
You're going to need something to hold your gear! Make sure it's big enough to hold pads, or tampons if you're using one.
Step 2. Buy some products for menstruation
Usually the first day of menstruation is quite light and only a little so you can just use a pantyliner. For heavier periods, you will need to prepare a tampon or pad. An alternative is cloth pads or special reusable container products. You'll need about three pantyliners and three pads or tampons all day at school or work. Make sure to replace it every 4-6 hours.
Step 3. Add painkillers
You will most likely experience cramps, which will be uncomfortable. Ibuprofen is good enough to reduce pain. If the taste is unbearable, you can drink up to four pills at a time as long as you don't exceed the limit in a day as stated on the packaging.
Step 4. Bring a small calendar and pen
If you're not sure exactly when your period is, write down the date each month until you get a pattern.
Step 5. Bring underwear too
Extra underwear can be helpful, especially if you're staining the clothes you're wearing. In this case, you will also need a plastic bag to store dirty underwear.
Step 6. If there is room in your bag, you can bring spare shorts in case you have a heavy period and your pads or tampons leak
(If you experience this often, consider using pads and tampons at the same time, changing products you normally use to prevent leakage, or taking birth control pills to reduce your period.)
Step 7. Bring hand sanitizer
It will be very helpful if the soap in the bathroom runs out!
Step 8. Tissues will also be very helpful
Make sure the tissue is biodegradable and unscented.
Step 9. Put in spare underwear and a plastic bag for dirty underwear
A plastic bag can also come in handy when there's no place to throw away used pads or tampons (e.g. when you're at the mountain, at the beach, etc.)
Step 10. Have some cash handy too, just in case you forget to bring a pad and have to buy one
Step 11. Also bring chocolate bars, especially dark chocolate, in a plastic bag
The chemicals in chocolate can help relieve cramps and satisfy any hunger pangs you may be experiencing.
Step 12. Done
Tips
- If you can, bring a foldable and warmed warmer too. These warmers can be thrown away after use and can relieve cramps quickly!
- Be careful not to let the chocolate you bring melt and soil the spare shorts you prepared!
- If you're at school, make sure you and your friends have spare supplies in your locker in case someone forgets. This way, you will always have friends who can help you.
- Use toilet paper if you forget to bring your pad or tampon until you can get it.
- Don't panic if it breaks. Use a jacket or borrow it from a friend until you can go to the bathroom and change pads.
- Prepare this equipment in every bag you have so you don't have to bother moving it.
- If you don't want anyone to see the contents of your menstrual bag, you can cover it with colored tape.
- If you're embarrassed at school or something, just hide your pad or tampon and hide it in your shoe, sleeve, or pocket if you have one.
- If you want to hide it neatly, just put it in a glasses case or shirt pocket.
- To save space, roll up your spare shorts, underwear, or tights.
Warning
- Make sure you don't look too anxious.
- Also make sure your gear storage bag is not a clear type of bag.
